Some days on the calendar and certain times of the year are those we all seem to loathe, primarily because we don't seem to be at our best or have our best moments. Maybe are times on this day or this time that don't go very well. These certain unlucky or dismal days are those we may totally loathe when those times. Are there certain days or times of the year where you seem to have some of your worst memories? The reason why I bring this is up is because one of my least favorite times of the year for me is here...
Halloween.
In some of my past, especially as a student, some of my worst moments have come on Halloween. I was suspended for fighting. It was my final day as a student of Lamar University. It is almost as if I have sort of anticipate what (if anything) will go very wrong with me. It has been a certain day I've loathed because something negative always seemed to happen on this day.
Now... I do enjoy the candy on Halloween. :) However, this day just brings bad memories for me for things that have happened to me on Halloween. Maybe I have a Charlie Brown sort of aura regarding certain holidays and times of the year. Some holidays just don't go right for me sometimes. There is nothing cheesy or movie-like about it, but I just sometimes don't have the best luck on a day like Halloween. That's why I'm not as jovial as many others in dressing up and being scary and all that. I am myself for Halloween. I don't do any dressing up or anything like that. That even includes wearing anything even remotely Halloween-related.
In certain other cultures and calendars, some days are considered some of the unluckiest days. For example, on the Medieval calendar, there are two Egyptian days each month that are considered dismal days (dismal meaning unlucky or evil here).
In case you're interested on dismal/unlucky days on the calendar in certain cultures, here are some sites to look up:
• Dismal or Bad Egyptian Days
• Dismal or Bad Japanese Days
Unlucky for many people is Friday the 13th. However, some days can be much worse than any Friday the 13th.
How do you handle your unluckiest days? Or at least, a certain day or time of the year where you're probably not as happy or not as joyous that a certain day/time is happening? Comment away. By the way... HAPPY HALLOWEEN (since it is Halloween as of this initial blog post)!!!

Deals
"Live Well for Less With Deals" is a half-hour show on the Live Well Network devoted entirely to saving people money. Hosted by Katishia Cosley (or Kat Cosley), this is the Indiana native's first foray into hosting and producing. Every episode features at least five segments with many ways to save money or ways to not spend as much on things in life. These can range from knowing where to shop to basic advice that can lead to big savings in the long run. Also included are things like recipes for creating certain items to help aid in not having to buy from stores all the time. There is no shortage of ideas or concepts to save money on things we use or already have. So is the concept of Deals. And with this said, this blog post is my own opinion regarding Deals.
Welcome to "John's Blog Space!"
NOTE: This blog post is not some paid review or anything. This is all personal commentary of mine regarding this program.
^ from: (Deals' Facebook fan page) - Live Well for Less With Deals, hosted by Katishia Cosley.
Deals debuted on the Live Well Network on July 4, 2011. It is perhaps fitting the show debuted on Independence Day 2011 as Katishia Cosley goes independent in going from reporter/anchor to host/producer. She goes from the sinking ship of CW 39 News to returning to the ABC networks, where she used to be a freelance reporter for KTRK Channel 13. The only other difference is that she is now with Live Well Network as opposed to covering news stories on ABC 13.
What is Deals all about? It is about saving money. Each segment can last anywhere between two to maybe five minutes, and there are about four or five segments in each episode. There is a little of everything and a lot of ways to save money on things we do and use every day. Among the various segments, you even learn some new things, such as new uses for things you may already own or use. The diversity of topics in saving money is vast. Often times, some very fun segments are shown on Deals. Among some of the better Deals segments, Katishia Cosley went as far as to learn about making gourmet-style cupcakes on the cheap, talking about boat rentals (even piloting a boat), and things like that. The sort of surprise factor is there sometimes on Deals. You just have to tune in or watch online.
Now you have an idea as to what Deals is all about.
Although Katishia Cosley is nicknamed "Kat," she is no ordinary cat when it comes to finding these deals. Really, Kat is the lioness of the frugality jungle. This lioness roars loudly and confidently with all of the segments and episodes of Deals. I have always thought that Katishia is at her best when discussing positive and fun material. She expresses herself quite well incorporating her sweet smile as well as some lighthearted humor often times. Since Deals is about saving money, these topics are far less depressing than most news stories you often see on the news. This allows Katishia to provide her stories and commentary in a pleasant manner. It also allows her to incorporate a bit of her fashion style as well.
It's funny that a show about saving money is so rich with priceless advice for living well for less (for lack of a better term). It is money-saving advice a lot of us can use. An observation I once made is that Deals seems to better suit Katishia Cosley as it allows her to exhibit her personality and charm more. Both of which, she has an abundance of. I have been a fan of hers in reporting/anchoring, but the host/producer role seems to be better with the mood Deals provides as well as in how Katishia presents and promotes her material in each episode and segment. I am not trying to talk about hosting and producing like being a reality TV show host. All I am saying is that Katishia does hosting/producing about as well as she's done in the reporter/anchor realm.
I think you can afford to just watch Deals to pick up on something useful in saving money. If the cards are played right, Deals may become as much of a mainstay on Live Well Network as any other program on there, such as Rebecca Spera's "Mirror/Mirror." The passion and the drive to deliver on money-saving ideas in Deals are vastly expressed and executed by Katishia Cosley as well as by the people interviewed in Deals segments. As a national TV show, people nationwide can see Deals and all of the money-saving advice offered in the show. Each episode is meant to be helpful and creative. Among the many ways to save money on things, there are no shortage of ideas or concepts to help in saving money. Viewers are even encouraged to offer their own money-saving ideas on Deals' Facebook fan page.
So give Deals a try if you're watching Live Well Network! Visit livewellnetwork.com/deals to learn more about Deals for yourself.

--- Thoughts on "Deals" ---
Most of what Deals discusses includes a combination of alternative shopping ideas, crafty ideas, and some basic knowledge being shared. --- "Deals" Samples ---
These videos below give you an idea of what Deals is all about. So what's the deal with Deals? That's what you're going to see for yourself in these videos. I will feature different videos showcasing different categories of segments featured on Deals. They will be listed under a few distinct categories. I am using categories to sort these videos, but there's no real categories of advice offered. To read the articles that go with each video, please click on the provided links. These videos are all provided for educational purposes. Here are previews of "Deals" in these segments below:On the Cheap/Saving Money.
This video is an example of getting a good deal on something. So I'll feature this video below in the "On the Cheap" or "Saving Money" category. This is one of my favorite segments of any episode of Deals. Here, Katishia Cosley discusses deals for using a Go Local card at participating businesses. Have a look:(Article: Go Local)
Crafts/Do it Yourself.
Here, I will feature two different videos, both involve saving money by making things yourself. This category would include things like making items to modifying fashions yourself. The first video is a wonderful piece featuring floral arrangements. The second video will probably make you hungry, so watch the second one at your own risk. :)(Article: Floral Arranging)

Consumer Advice.
This is an example of consumer advice on Deals. The sample video here pertains to spotting fake items. It is one of many different consumer advice topics on Deals:(Article: Designer Fakes)

--- What I Would Tell Katishia Cosley (if she were to read this) ---
I wish you nothing but continued success with Deals. This show can go a long way. It has immense promise and usefulness. Then again, what on Live Well Network DOESN'T have some sort of use? Since the CW 39 news days, it is great seeing you on television again since Deals debuted. Once again- I wish you and Deals continued success. Eye Opener
News, weather, and traffic; all to get you going for the day. When the NewsFix was in for CW 39, it meant radical changes to compete for news supremacy in Houston. Another radical change was Eye Opener. Though Eye Opener has been on since May 9, 2011; my first time really seeing Eye Opener was not too long ago. It is therefore time to offer thoughts on CW 39's brand of morning news. I welcome you to John's Blog Space and another blog post on JBS!

^ from: (Eye Opener's Facebook fan page) - Wake up to a new style of morning news. Welcome to Eye Opener!
Eye Opener is a different kind of morning show meant to compete with the other morning newscasts. Remember Mia Gradney (featured among my favorite Houston news personalities)? Yeah. Well, Mia is one of the different personalities of Eye Opener. Each weekday morning, this crew delivers up news in a very casual way. It is television morning news that is as unpredictable and as unconventional as some morning radio shows.
This is the Eye Opener crew (click on any hyperlinked names to read his/her bio):
• Sean Dowling, reporter
• Mia Gradney
• Bohuš Blahut, Casual Expert (first name pronounced "BOH-hoosh")
• Kirby O'Connell
• Adam Lee Campbell (better known as ALC), "Acapella with ALC"
• "Wrench"
These are among some of the many personalities of Eye Opener. Only Mia Gradney is the one I've mentioned previously here on John's Blog Space, among some of my favorite Houston on-air news personalities.
• I saw Eye Opener at around 7:39 AM Central [Daylight] Time on Friday, October 28, 2011. What I discuss here is based on the 20 minutes of Eye Opener I was able to see from today and from what more I saw on Eye Opener online.
So with this out the way, it's time I make my own review of "Eye Opener."
Speaking of the aforementioned NewsFix, when I first tuned in to actually see Eye Opener for myself, there was NewsFix-style news on Eye Opener when I tuned in. And I'm like... oh, I remember this from back in March when I compiled my lengthy review of NewsFix. I can't bring myself to watch NewsFix. So I basically muted out the NewsFix part. I later saw and heard Marci Izard (reporter and sometimes anchor for CW 39 News) make mention to news, weather, and traffic. Unlike NewsFix's "f___ anchors and f___ reporters" format, Marci's voice actually discussed the weather in a brief manner. Later the attention goes from the CW 39 team to the Eye Opener team as they came along with some... interesting topics. Newsworthy topics are discussed, just not really typical stories about typical topics (like politics, for example).
IN CASE YOU'RE INTERESTED: I have noted Maggie Flecknoe as one of my favorite Houston on-air news personalities. Here are more links for you to check out to compliment this blog post:
• My Favorite Houston News Personalities (besides Maggie Flecknoe)
• "Online Dish With Maggie" on www.39online.com
• "Like" Online Dish With Maggie on Facebook
Those are the segments I was able to see on TV. To learn about other segments featured on Eye Opener, such as Your Moment of Cuteness, visit Eye Opener's website.
Would I watch Eye Opener again if I were up earlier or if I wanted to see it again? If on a scale of 1-5, where 1 means "least likely" and 5 means "most likely," I would put Eye Opener at 3.5. Or at the most, 3.75 or even 4. I have basically stopped caring about TV/radio news except for weather and sports. So I can't honestly say I'd watch Eye Opener again if I wanted to.
It was pretty cool seeing Eye Opener and actually seeing what it was mostly about. Too bad I didn't get to see the lovely Mia Gradney on TV in preparing this blog post.
You can learn more about Eye Opener by visiting 39online.com/eyeopener. You may also "like" Eye Opener's Facebook Fan Page as well as Follow Eye Opener on Twitter.
Perhaps I should see more of the show more often so I can provide a better look at Eye Opener. This will do for now, though. Thank you for reading! That concludes this blog post. Hope you enjoyed it.

--- Eye Opener at a Glance ---
I usually start off with a picture, but I couldn't find a good enough one to feature here to set the mood for this blog post. So I'll be using this one:^ from: (Eye Opener's Facebook fan page) - Wake up to a new style of morning news. Welcome to Eye Opener!

A few notes on this initial blog post...• I saw Eye Opener at around 7:39 AM Central [Daylight] Time on Friday, October 28, 2011. What I discuss here is based on the 20 minutes of Eye Opener I was able to see from today and from what more I saw on Eye Opener online.
So with this out the way, it's time I make my own review of "Eye Opener."
--- Eye Opener: Basic Thoughts ---
This is really a different sort of morning show. It is surely non-traditional, as most morning news have a traditional newscast designed to get you going for the morning easily. If a usual morning newscast is like starting a day with a cup of coffee, then watching Eye Opener is like starting your day... with a can of Red Bull (or any other energy drink). The same sort of irreverent material you'd probably see on NewsFix is what you'll find on Eye Opener. To my knowledge, Eye Opener isn't all Houston-based and all Houston-operated. In fact, I read the Eye Opener material is based in Chicago with Houston news breaks. It is mostly a national show as opposed to a Houston-exclusive program.Speaking of the aforementioned NewsFix, when I first tuned in to actually see Eye Opener for myself, there was NewsFix-style news on Eye Opener when I tuned in. And I'm like... oh, I remember this from back in March when I compiled my lengthy review of NewsFix. I can't bring myself to watch NewsFix. So I basically muted out the NewsFix part. Online Dish With Maggie.
At around 7:45 AM, "Online Dish With Maggie" was on. This was the first time I've seen Maggie Flecknoe on my TV since the CW 39 News format gave way to NewsFix. The beautiful blonde from Colorado still dishes on some of the most interesting and gossip-worthy topics. I have seen some of the most recent Online Dish segments from Maggie (or "Blondie") in preparing this post. No shortage of interesting topics from Maggie including her unique commentary.IN CASE YOU'RE INTERESTED: I have noted Maggie Flecknoe as one of my favorite Houston on-air news personalities. Here are more links for you to check out to compliment this blog post:

Videos Gone Viral.
Trending videos are as much a part of CW 39 News as anything else. Your taste of the most interesting Internet videos get some face time on Eye Opener. These would be those videos that get all kinds of hits online or are worth watching. Those are the segments I was able to see on TV. To learn about other segments featured on Eye Opener, such as Your Moment of Cuteness, visit Eye Opener's website.
--- Eye Opener: Final Thoughts ---
Touted as a different kind of morning show, Eye Opener is just that. It is a morning show that is more casual and in-your-face while not severely overdoing it. Eye Opener is not NewsFix (a good thing for NewsFix haters), but some of the sort of swagger of NewsFix is instilled in Eye Opener's news. It is surely a different sort of morning news experience. For someone who used to watch FOX 26 Morning News a lot and even ABC 13 Morning News, Eye Opener is radically different. CW 39 delivers mostly casual news in Eye Opener and NewsFix while having a deeper tie to the Houston-area and Houstonians than most of the major local networks do at trying to showcase things on a local level. Eye Opener is no different.Would I watch Eye Opener again if I were up earlier or if I wanted to see it again? If on a scale of 1-5, where 1 means "least likely" and 5 means "most likely," I would put Eye Opener at 3.5. Or at the most, 3.75 or even 4. I have basically stopped caring about TV/radio news except for weather and sports. So I can't honestly say I'd watch Eye Opener again if I wanted to.
It was pretty cool seeing Eye Opener and actually seeing what it was mostly about. Too bad I didn't get to see the lovely Mia Gradney on TV in preparing this blog post.

Fashion Freedom
Fashion freedom is a concept in which there are no gender limits to wearing certain garments. There are some people who feel like they should be able to wear anything- including clothing from the opposite sex. Think of men in high heels. Think of men in skirts and dresses. At least in the minds of most fashionable males, a male would be confounded as to why he would be considered crossdressing if he wears feminine clothing, yet a female could be able to wear masculine clothing without penalty and not be called a crossdresser. This is part of the reason why I mostly discuss feminine fashion more than I do masculine fashion- fashion is more versatile for females than it is for males. This versatility (and the fact I'm a bit more comfortable discussing feminine fashion) is why I mostly discuss feminine fashion. If you are someone who feels strongly in favor of fashion freedom, this is your blog post.
I want you to know that this blog post may lead to separate blog posts on the same related topic, so make sure to keep reading John's Blog Space for this and other posts on the same topic. Most of what this post pertains to is about males wearing feminine fashions. While I did an entire blog post on this topic, this blog post is a more in-depth look at fashion freedom.
WARNING: While there is no seriously objectionable content, some of the content matter in this blog post may not be suitable for all audiences.
• Why should only females wear skirts (or even dresses)?
• Why should only females wear high heels? Why should only females wear makeup and nail polish?
• Why is it that if a female attempts to wear male clothing (a la boyfriend fashion), she is seemingly okay; but if a male attempts to wears female clothing, he is considered crossdressing?
These questions and more are questions that those into fashion freedom would ask. The key point is in feeling able to wear clothing even from the opposite sex without fear of being considered gay or a transvestite by society.
The male should have no problem wanting to go out sporting this look, right? Wrong. With the society we live in, there are those who would cringe at the sight of a male being left of socially acceptable. Females wear pink. Do males wear pink too? Absolutely males do. I've even known a few guys who wear pink, or even some variation of pink. To those who believe in fashion freedom, there should be no reason why a guy should be hated on for wearing something that would easily look cute/sexy/fierce on a female.
Imagine something as simple as wearing certain clothes as a barrier of getting a good education. Sad.
Remember I discussed the versatility of feminine fashion from the outset? Well, fashion favors females more than males. Because of this favorable nature, a number of people would frown at the notion of a male wearing feminine clothing. Imagine that a guy wants to wear a flirty leopard-print elbow sleeve top, dark blue skinny jeans, and some black round-toe pumps. Not out of taboo, but because he wants to express himself through the means of fashion. Do you allow him to dress up this way, or do you admonish and criticize him because he doesn't dress up like other average males?
So therefore, the concept of fashion freedom is a risky one. Many people take different things in different ways.
I've seen in pictures and in blog posts about girls looking boyish or even wearing menswear clothing. Many females can pull off such looks. However, a male who wants to wear feminine fashions is somehow unable or disallowed by others. Many average males would think of such males as gay or as crossdressers just because they are wearing feminine clothes. So if males wearing feminine fashions are gays/crossdressers to some, how come no one (or a certain few) refers to females wearing masculine clothes as lesbians/crossdressers? Males who are in favor of wearing feminine clothes would feel strongly opposed on how much more freely females can wear masculine clothing as opposed to males wearing feminine clothes.
I have said all along that fashion is a form of art. As a form of art, one should be able to express himself/herself however he/she chooses- including fashion. That even includes males who want to dress in a feminine way. Think of Jonathan Escobar from earlier in this blog post. It is okay to be disgusted or feel uneasy about a male wearing feminine fashions. However, you have to appreciate such males being able to pull off certain looks and proudly wear them, even if at the expense of looking awkward.
The next section will make the case that males should be able to wear feminine or feminine-inspired pieces about as easily as any girl could easily wear.

I won't go crazy on videos, but I will show one video of a male wearing feminine fashions. Let this be some inspiration for you males to wear feminine fashions if you feel fashionable and confident enough.
Before I show you this video, I would NOT recommend you wear this in this situation. Anyhow, Gregory GORGEOUS shares with you this outfit. Any sexy girl would look hot in this outfit, but leave it to the Canadian to wear with outfit proudly:
Note the painted fingernails. Remember- this is a GUY wearing this outfit. Almost any female confident enough to wear such an outfit would have no problem wearing it. However, this fellow proudly wore this outfit.
If there are any other male fashion blogs or videos relevant to this topic, I will feature them in future edits.
I know there are social stereotypes on any thought regarding fashionable males. You know, almost as if males should only dress up in masculine fashions and only masculine fashions. Society would mostly draw cruel stares at males who constantly are image conscious and take great care of themselves much like a lot of females. There is nothing wrong with a male who wants to look his absolute best, even to being real high maintenance with his looks. However, there are males who would think that if females can wear masculine fashions without penalty or complications (for those females who can comfortably and confidently wear masculine fashions), how come males can't wear feminine fashions if they so choose? This double standard in fashion has some fashionable males feeling disappointed.
This is more about fashion versatility and comfort than addressing any gender stereotypes or homophobic fears.
The challenge for men trying feminine shoes is in finding a pair of shoes that will fit. One rule of thumb is that for males wearing feminine heels, your feminine shoe size should be added by two. I could fit in a 10.5 D(M) US shoe or even a 11 D(M) US size shoe. So for women's shoes, they'd have to be either 12.5 B(M) US or 13 B(M) US. So here's a little reference:
• Male seeking female shoes = your women's size is two (US) sizes up.
• Female seeking male shoes = your men's size is two (US) sizes down.
So if I was crazy about getting feminine shoes, you shoe retailers better have some lovely shoes in a men's size 10.5 or 11! :D What I just mentioned is just a general rule of thumb. The only way to really know if a pair of shoes fit you best is by actually going out and wearing these shoes for yourself.
What I'd go with has to be completely casual. That's why I'd be okay with something like a long denim jean skirt and maybe some mary jane wedges. I haven't really thought of what kind of feminine top I'd try on. Then too, I doubt I'd look great wearing any sort of feminine top or dress for a frame like mine. So I'll just stick to bottoms and shoes here. I rarely wear sandals outside of the house, so I am not sure if I'd actually want to wear feminine sandals or any open-toe/peep-toe shoes. I wouldn't try slingbacks unless wearing any bottoms that extend above the ankles. Trying some VERY feminine shoes takes MUCH more confidence than wearing something like ballet flats or flat gladiator sandals.
And those are your Final Thoughts from me, including a "What If?" if I was trying these looks myself.

--- Fashion Freedom as a Concept ---
Fashion freedom would ask questions about fashion that mainstream society would frown upon instantaneously. For instance...• Why should only females wear skirts (or even dresses)?
• Why should only females wear high heels? Why should only females wear makeup and nail polish?
• Why is it that if a female attempts to wear male clothing (a la boyfriend fashion), she is seemingly okay; but if a male attempts to wears female clothing, he is considered crossdressing?
These questions and more are questions that those into fashion freedom would ask. The key point is in feeling able to wear clothing even from the opposite sex without fear of being considered gay or a transvestite by society.
--- Fashion Freedom: You Can't Wear THAT! ---
In the minds of those who feel they can wear whatever they want, there should be no reason why anyone should have to have restrictions on what they should and should wear. How come a male shouldn't be able to wear a skirt if he wants to? Why shouldn't a male wear pumps or some feminine heels if he wants to? We tend to live in a society where everything is taboo. Anything left of mainstream society is grounds for taboo and gossip. For example, a male who wants to wear a silky camisole top with a pair of chic jeans and either high-heel pumps or high-heel sandals should feel he can wear such a look without penalty or cruel stares. One male makes such a fashion choice and ends up having all sorts of mostly negative attention to him. Not everyone wants to wear something just to be noticed in a negative light.
"I Want to Wear Whatever I Want."
Some people feel they should be able to wear whatever they like, and the feeling tends to be especially hard for school students. One such case was that of a (even I must say) very cute young male named Jonathan Escobar. In 2009, Jonathan Escobar- a (then) 16-year old from Miami who enrolled in North Cobb High School (Kennesaw, Georgia, USA) was kicked out of his high school since he wasn't allowed to dress up as a girl. An interview on television saw Jonathan dress up in a black wide-brim hat, a gray blazer, indigo blue skinny jeans, black nail polish on his fingernails and toenails, and a cute pair of platform high-heel sandals. It was concluded that the dress code strictly enforced students didn't dress or act in ways that would disrupt school functions... including crossdressing. Here was the news segment from 2009:Imagine something as simple as wearing certain clothes as a barrier of getting a good education. Sad.
Double Standards in Fashion?
Fashion poses a number of double standards. In case you need a refresher on what a double standard is, it means that one such situation is perfectly fine for one party but troublesome for another party. One can make the case for the boyfriend/menswear trend. For instance, it's perfectly fine if a girl wants to dress up as a guy or wear masculine-cut clothes. However, a male would be heckled or be frowned upon if he wants to wear feminine garments. There are females who dress and look boyish. Not every girl wants to wear sexy dresses and sky high heel pumps. But then, not every male wants to wear masculine clothing.Remember I discussed the versatility of feminine fashion from the outset? Well, fashion favors females more than males. Because of this favorable nature, a number of people would frown at the notion of a male wearing feminine clothing. Imagine that a guy wants to wear a flirty leopard-print elbow sleeve top, dark blue skinny jeans, and some black round-toe pumps. Not out of taboo, but because he wants to express himself through the means of fashion. Do you allow him to dress up this way, or do you admonish and criticize him because he doesn't dress up like other average males?
Homophobic Fears.
One thing people do not want to have happen to them is being considered gay just because of a few fashion choices. More than anything, this is perhaps the biggest fear and biggest deterrent for most males trying on certain feminine fashions. The fear is that someone is considered/presumed gay just because he/she isn't "like everybody else." A certain preference in fashion does not make anyone gay. A lot of people would assume (especially males) to be crossdressers simply because they wear feminine clothing. So therefore, the concept of fashion freedom is a risky one. Many people take different things in different ways.
--- Fashion Freedom: How Others Would Feel about Fashion Freedom ---
(NOTE: This section is all opinion. It is not based on any scientific research I've done on this topic matter.)How Most Females Would Feel About Males in Feminine Fashions.
Most females would object to the notion of a male wearing anything feminine. To some females, males should stick to masculine clothes, and females should happily wear feminine clothing. This would be flawed logic by most males. The flawed logic would be that if a girl could get away with wearing guy's clothing, how come guys can't get away with wearing girl's clothing? The double standard here relates to how females could wear male clothing, but males somehow can't wear feminine fashion if a male chooses to do so.I've seen in pictures and in blog posts about girls looking boyish or even wearing menswear clothing.

--- Fashion Freedom: Males in Feminine Fashions ---
This is not necessarily about fashion freedom, but more along the lines of males who have no problem wearing feminine fashions and posting about their looks. The most important thing to remember is that these are males who wear feminine fashions and do not wish to have any sort of transgender surgery to permanently become the opposite sex. You are invited to visit their blogs and see these males showcase their style in feminine fashions.Click on the hyperlinked headings to visit their respective blogs or sites.
The Art of Avant Garde.
As one of the most unique fellows you'll ever come across, Eli is an androgynous fellow who proudly puts together some lovely outfits. His beauty and charm shows that males can greatly wear feminine fashions if a male so choose to do so and can pull such looks off. His sense of style has as much appeal to fashion as Lady Gaga to music and art. So visit "The Art of Avant Garde" and check out Eli's style.FASHIONpaak.
Paak Chan is a male from Hong Kong who has no problem wearing skirts, heels, or platforms. His style is unique as you see him sport a number of styles. Now, Paak is not androgynous or anything. He just shows that certain feminine fashions can look great even on males.high heels for men.
This blog is run by a woman showcasing males wearing high-heel shoes. They can range from average males to androgynous males. The males featured range from wearing masculine fashions to more feminine outfits. So you get a little of everything here. Most importantly, though, there are NO transgendered folk to speak of. All of the males featured are all males wearing high heel shoes.Hottest Heels - Heels Are Hot! Anything Else Is Not!.
This young blogger from New York City commonly posts on celebrities wearing high heel shoes. Sometimes, this fellow even showcases himself wearing high heels. This person very much shows that if a guy wants to sport some high heels, he should be able to do so and be confident wearing them. Even if pictures of him in high heels don't tickle your fancy, at least visit to see various celebrities wearing high heels.Androgyn.beauty's Blog (Wordpress).
This is a Wordpress blog of an androgynous male beauty from Spain. He posts a variety of different posts where he mostly shows you his fashion style. This fellow has androgynous beauty with such smooth legs. Fashion items he wears are mostly casual and mostly chic. There are also skirts and dresses he may wear, as well as a handful of feminine shoes. His blog and his beauty will impress a lot of you. One last thing (and maybe a word of warning)... I would be disgusting most of my reading audience if I mentioned this, but he even has a few pictures of himself wearing lingerie. His looks and charm are surprisingly so lovely that he looks very passable even in lingerie.Fashion Freedom for Men (Wordpress).
This blog highlights on fashion freedom for men. It showcases a level of style when males wear feminine clothing. It also features various fashion insights. If you are someone who feels strongly that males should be able to wear feminine fashion if they so choose, this site is for you.I won't go crazy on videos, but I will show one video of a male wearing feminine fashions. Let this be some inspiration for you males to wear feminine fashions if you feel fashionable and confident enough.

--- Final Thoughts ---
This Final Thoughts section is a two-part deal. I will provide some lasting thoughts as well as what I would wear if I were to try feminine fashions for my own frame.Final Thoughts on this Topic.
I have expressed this topic from a journalistic standpoint throughout this post. When you really think about it, those who feel strongly in favor of fashion freedom feel that males should have as much versatility and freedom in fashion as females do.I know there are social stereotypes on any thought regarding fashionable males. You know, almost as if males should only dress up in masculine fashions and only masculine fashions. Society would mostly draw cruel stares at males who constantly are image conscious and take great care of themselves much like a lot of females. Would I Try Any Feminine Fashions?
A few times thinking about topics like this, I often imagine what it would be like if it were me sporting some of these fashions. Going out and about, I'd lack the confidence to go with anything really feminine if I were to try any looks mentioned here. You have to be confident in what you wear, even if you appear to look mostly awkward to many people.

FL Studio Thoughts
I downloaded the FL Studio demo over the weekend. I wanted to see if I could make great music using FL Studio as opposed to making tracker music. I am also thinking of what version to buy to enjoy the full experience of FL Studio. This is just a quick blog post I wanted to put out there in regards to FL Studio. This is not a review or anything, I just wanted to share some quick thoughts in regards to FL Studio in trying to maybe get back into making music. If you're reading this and have used FL Studio, maybe you can help me better make my decision as to buy whatever version of FL Studio.
^ from: www.housemusicessentials.com - FL Studio logo.
FL Studio (formerly FruityLoops) allows music makers various tools to make great music. It was created by a Belgian company called Image-Line. The majority of content I've heard in YouTube videos are mostly electronic dance music songs using FL Studio. It can also be used for hip-hop and pop songs as well. For almost any sort of electronic music, users are armed to the hilt with various facilities and utilities to help make great music. Items such as VST instruments, hundreds of instrument samples, and more are all offered to users of FL Studio. Songs created can be put out in a number of different formats, including OGG, WAV, MP3, and more.
Playing around with FL Studio's demo has given me a somewhat limited view on what is possible using this program. Making music and making certain inputs seem simpler in this program aside from making tracker music in MadTracker 2. I haven't yet made a proper pattern and a proper song, but I'm working on it. I'm sure I will have enough experience to make great music if I choose to buy any version of FL Studio.
• FL Studio Express Edition - great for making music loops. No audio recording or piano roll.
• FL Studio Fruity Edition - great entry-level software for making songs. No audio recording.
• FL Studio Producer Edition - great for audio recording and post-production songs.
• FL Studio Signature Edition - the top-of-the-line program and most definitive version. That is... if you have nearly $300 USD to spare.
I am not sure what way to go with getting FL Studio. I mean, I'm considering getting the FL Studio Express version since it has most of what I am looking for in making music. However, I may want to get the almost $100 USD Fruity Edition just to have something solid for making music. The Fruity Edition is about the absolute maximum for me in making music. The offerings for the Producer and Signature editions are just too much for me. They are too much for me, and I doubt I have all the facilities and services to warrant use of anything higher than the Fruity Edition. So I'd be torn between the Express and Fruity editions.
Purchase of any edition gives you lifetime updates, so no more of having to pay for updates. Separate instruments and such for FL Studio can be purchased.

FL Studio and its Editions.
From the initial download of the FL Studio demo, you already have all you need to make great music with. All you have to do is either purchase for whatever version you want to get. There are four varieties of FL Studio, and here is about as much as I understand about each one:• FL Studio Express Edition - great for making music loops. No audio recording or piano roll.

Pizza
Who doesn't love a good pizza? Taking a bunch of dough to make a circular disc of bread topped with all sorts of goodies makes for one delicious meal. This is usually enjoyed either at home or at various functions. There are so many ways to top pizza with all sorts of toppings, herbs, and more for that deliciously satisfying experience. Go easy on the toppings (like I do)... or pile on as much as you like- it's YOUR pizza. This blog post is another Food and Drink post regarding that delicious pizza pie. I'll try not to get you hungry thinking about this topic. :)
^ from: free-extras.com - Who doesn't love a good pizza pie?
The origins of pizza dates all the way back to the ancient Greeks, who covered bread with oils, herbs, and cheese. Modern pizza, however, originated in Italy with the Neapolitan pie. They added cheese to it in 1889. Before the Italians popularized the pizza we know and love today, countless other cultures in Europe and the Middle East have come along with their own offerings for pizza.
More on pizza from Wikipedia can be found here: Wikipedia entry on pizza. A more in-depth look at the history of pizza can read at Wikipedia's article on the history of pizza.
Most pizzas are usually shared among family, friends, groups, and more. It's a great-tasting way to bring people together. Some may just enjoy pizza for dinner, after a group function, for movie night, parties, and more. You may even see the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles chow down on some pizza pie while battling evil.
No matter what the occasion or how you top it, there is nothing like pizza. It is a food best enjoyed with others. So go ahead and slice up and share that pizza- there's plenty to enjoy for everyone ranging from two people to a whole group!
Some stores even offer pepperoni separately so you can make your own pizza. You can even buy or prepare some dough to help create your dream pizza.
No matter how you like your pizza, at least you know and love that magical disc of bread that makes for a great pizza.
• cheesy stuffed crust
• cheese
• pepperoni
• chicken (maybe barbeque chicken)
And if I could have certain sauce or something to go with it, definitely garlic sauce from Papa John's. That stuff goes great for dipping pizza into for a great taste. Cinnamon bread sticks with icing would be a sweet way to finish off my pizza-eating experience.

--- How Do You Like Your Pizza Pie? ---
Whether you prefer restaurant pizza or store-bought pizza, there are many styles of pizza for many who want that great-tasting disc of bread with all kinds of toppings. The most common and basic pizza is your usual pepperoni and cheese pizza. There are some who prefer pizza with loads of cheese toppings. Some even fancy hamburger pizza. For those who love their pizza with meat, some will have pizza with different kinds of meat. The more vegetable-friendly kinds have their pizza with various vegetables and fruits as toppings.Store Pizza.
Pizza you can buy in the frozen foods sections can be prepared in an oven or stove. Some can even be prepared in a microwave. Everything is all pre-made. All you have to do is warm it up and cut slices. Some pizzas are small and can easily be prepared. In addition, there are always pizza pockets, which offer all the rich taste of pizza in small, breaded pieces. Some stores even offer pepperoni separately so you can make your own pizza. You can even buy or prepare some dough to help create your dream pizza.
Restaurant Pizza.
The best thing about restaurant pizza is how much control over what you want topped on your pizza. If a restaurant offers pizza in a certain way that you can customize, feel free to order a pizza to have whatever toppings you want. Some of the most popular pizza chains in the United States include Domino's Pizza, Pizza Hut, Papa John's, and Cici's Pizza. One other pizza chain that you don't hear much about (but still exists) these days is Little Caesars.Italian Pizza (or Margherita Pizza).
I'll need the help of my Italian readers to help me with this part. Either you all, or my friend Gabriella of "Principessa Gabriella." I think I remember watching a TV show once about Italian pizza. Authentic Italian pizza is MUCH different from the pizza we all are used to in the United States and elsewhere around the world. Italian pizza is much less fancy-looking. Instead, it is a fairly simple-looking pizza that still delivers great taste... not to say I've had an authentic Italian pizza. I'm so used to American pizza that I don't know what Italian pizza is like. But again, I am not as educated on authentic Italian pizza to explain it here.Foods to Go Along With Pizza.
Many pizza chains let you purchase other items to help sweeten the experience. Among others: soda, chicken wings, breadsticks, cinnamon bread sticks (with or without icing), pasta, and more. This helps you to enjoy pizza long after you're done with your pizza. In case you're wondering... I did get myself a bit hungry for cinnamon bread sticks with icing (like what you get with Dominos Pizza). I even get myself hungry sometimes preparing these Food and Drink posts! :DNo matter how you like your pizza, at least you know and love that magical disc of bread that makes for a great pizza.
--- How Do I Like My Pizza Pie? ---
Most of the time, I prefer a basic pepperoni and cheese pizza. What I go for depends on what a restaurant offers. I think I've prepared a few store-bought pizzas in an oven before. My Dream Pizza.
This would be my dream pizza... whether healthy for me or not:• cheesy stuffed crust
• cheese
--- Pizza Resources ---
These are various links to help you with pizza. More links may be provided in future edits.Pizza Chains.
Here are places to order pizza online. These are mostly American pizza chains. You can order pizza online from these sites. Most of these offer more than just pizza, and some of these have international sites. So for example, one pizza chain may have its own site for your specific nation if you aren't from the United States. So have a look around and enjoy pizza:• Dominos Pizza
• Pizza Hut (site also offered in other countries)
• Papa John's
• Cici's Pizza
• Little Caesars
• Sbarro
• Spanky's Pizza and Italiano (Houston area)
• Empire Cafe (Houston area) - offers gourmet pizza

Making Pizza for Cheap.
I want you to know that I prepare a blog post on the show you are about to see below. If you are wanting to make your own pizza on the cheap, Live Well Network show, "Deals" once aired a segment on how to make pizza for cheap. Host Katishia Cosley (or Kat Cosley) did this segment on how to make pizza for cheap. Save dough while making your own pizza pie. This link includes an article and a video featuring the beautiful Kat Cosley. Here you go:"Pizza 101," as shown on Deals
And just to say again, I may prepare a blog post for "John's Blog Space" regarding a review of "Deals." So make sure to keep reading John's Blog Space! Remember that I may include more links in any future edits I may make.
No matter how you like your pizza, at least you're fond of something that tastes great and brings together people like no other food. How do you like pizza? What's the best pizza you've had? Please feel free to share your comments. More than ever, thank you for reading!

Blogging Before Blogspot
Let me tell you a little story. Did you know that before Blogger/Blogspot, most of my blogging was on Myspace? My Myspace blog still remains intact today! I would mostly blog about anything that crossed my mind- just like here on John's Blog Space. Since a lot of my friends became interested in what I had to type about and post in bulletins back in the glory days of Myspace, I would share some stories with everyone including some personal thoughts of mine. I knew I had friends who cared about me and could offer some great words when I am not feeling strong. So because of this, I was able to share some of my issues. Nothing EXTREMELY personal, though. I even mentioned once about blogging for money in my Myspace blog. Over time, I became interested in starting a blog elsewhere. And in so, I chose Blogger/Blogspot.
This blog highlights on my past blogging on Myspace before graduating to Blogger/Blogspot.
I always kept a little text file stored on my computer or on some external media storing my work. I've always had this sort of knack for typing up a lot of text that would eventually lead to detailed posts. I would fear that I'd lose all of my text in case the computer crashes. Also, I want to make sure that if I did screw up something, I could quickly edit it and edit the previously-released post with the new data. This is a practice I still do. Only instead of using Wordpad (because I did not want to have to load RTF files in Microsoft Word), I mostly use text files with NoteTab. NoteTab is also more flexible to me in all that I do in posting blog entries.
Myspace is also where I tried to meet many people from around the world. I wanted to try to be friends with others to try to expand my international appeal. Sort of the international appeal came over time when more people started viewing "John's Blog Space." Even more so when "John's Shop Space" and "John's Gran Turismo Space" got their respective views. To this date, over 170 to 180 countries and territories have visited any of my Blogger/Blogspot blogs at any time.
In all honesty, though... I sort of taught myself how to be better as a Blogger in going from Myspace to Blogger/Blogspot. Part of the maturation came in learning HTML and CSS to enhance blog posts. The main part of blogging that still matters at the end of the day is content, and that is one element that hasn't changed one bit in my blogging.
I guess you can say I've come a long way. :)
I still eventually want to have my Myspace friends who have Facebook to friend me on Facebook and "like" my Fan Page. Since Myspace is dying (or dead to many others), I do not want to completely lose touch with my loyal Myspace people.
While I do try to profit from my blogging, I hate getting the impression (not that anyone says it about me) that I care more about blogging for money than I do blogging for the love of posting blogs. Sure, I want to profit from my work, but it is more important that I share my mind and meet new people all the while. I felt like I have become a better blogger over time ranging from Myspace blog posting to making detailed posts in online forums. Sometimes, a habit or a hobby ends up becoming your strongest trade.
These days, I mostly use my Myspace blog to tell my Myspace friends to visit my Facebook fan page as well as my blogs- John's Blog Space, John's Shop Space, and John's Gran Turismo Space. You never forget where you came from. That statement surely is true in regards to where I've come from as a blogger and my further evolution as a blogger. I will never forget about my Myspace blogging roots. Trouble is, I never thought I'd be THIS serious about blogging to where I actually took it like a profession. There are many more blogs that get more traffic and probably earn more money than here on John's Blog Space, but I still enjoy what I do and still enjoy getting visitors from all over the world. I feel my international presence is greater on Blogger/Blogspot than on Myspace.
You now know about my roots in blogging before I seriously took into blogging. Thank you for reading!

This blog highlights on my past blogging on Myspace before graduating to Blogger/Blogspot.
--- Blogging Before Blogger/Blogspot ---
My Myspace blogging thoughts and history will be explained here. You will get to learn about my blogging past before coming onto the Blogger/Blogspot service. From Myspace Blogging to Blogger/Blogspot Blogging.
Anyone who may know my story knows that I have apparently set up a Blogger profile in 2007, but never posted an actual blog post until 2009. And at that time, I didn't even think about a specific name for this blog. I then eventually came up with "John's Blog Space" to define and establish my blog. It was initially intended to be about the Gran Turismo series (among other things). After posting certain blog posts, I decided to focus my blog more on various topics as I was getting bored trying to stick to the Gran Turismo series. Once I became more serious about blogging, I decided that I wanted to try to monetize my blog. After all, I wanted to profit from my work because I wanted to feel like my work was actually being valued. So I took up on Google Adsense and Amazon Associates. I was uncertain what kind of occupation I wanted to take part in or what college aspirations I actually want to complete, so I stuck with doing blog posts and YouTube videos. I enjoy doing both.I always kept a little text file stored on my computer or on some external media storing my work.
Lessons Learned from Myspace Blogging.
Really, I didn't get to gauge my appeal in blogging until I started becoming more experienced with HTML. Myspace doesn't really allow you to get really creative with your blog. I started learning more techniques to enhance blog posts as I became more experienced using the Blogger/Blogspot interface. Even more so when I started using the Blogger in Draft features. When I was trying to promote my YouTube channel, I used my Myspace blog to get my Myspace friends to care about my videos. So Myspace has meant many things to me in trying to promote my material.Has Blogging on Myspace Made me Better for Blogger/Blogspot?
To an extent, yes. I could communicate with a much bigger audience compared to my days on Myspace. More people have found John's Blog Space than hardly anyone finding my Myspace profile (let alone its blog). I just became more confident in what I post when I started doing more blogging on Blogger/Blogspot than on Myspace.Myspace is also where I tried to meet many people from around the world.

The main part of blogging that still matters at the end of the day is content, and that is one element that hasn't changed one bit in my blogging.
I guess you can say I've come a long way. :)
--- A Salute to my Myspace Blogging Roots ---
With Myspace being a sinking ship, I just want to thank Myspace and all of my Myspace friends for even caring about my blog on Myspace. I never thought I would care so much about blogging that I would graduate to Blogger/Blogspot. I am thankful for everyone to see my primary blog. As Facebook's popularity was growing, I started focusing more on my Facebook audience while still staying true to my Myspace friends.I still eventually want to have my Myspace friends who have Facebook to friend me on Facebook and "like" my Fan Page. Since Myspace is dying (or dead to many others), I do not want to completely lose touch with my loyal Myspace people.
--- Was I Destined to be a Blogger? ---
One last thing...Is Blogging Really My Trade?
You know, I've had a knack for making long and detailed material. So you can probably say that I've perfected becoming a blogger by simply typing up a bunch of stuff while making sure it all eventually makes sense. Since I habitually do lots of typing, you could say that blogging has been both a hobby and a profession to me.While I do try to profit from my blogging, I hate getting the impression (not that anyone says it about me) that I care more about blogging for money than I do blogging for the love of posting blogs. Sure, I want to profit from my work, but it is more important that I share my mind and meet new people all the while. I felt like I have become a better blogger over time ranging from Myspace blog posting to making detailed posts in online forums. Sometimes, a habit or a hobby ends up becoming your strongest trade.

Vintage Fashion
Vintage chic has shown that one can show Old World glamour while living in today's postmodern times. This is an inspiration-driven post of vintage looks rather than a completely detailed look at vintage chic. What you will see are various bloggers wearing vintage (as well as vintage-inspired) items. Vintage can range from thrifted old fashions to modern fashions with a vintage twist. It can also relate to vintage fashion touches with makeup and hair styled up in vintage ways. In all of these posts, you will note various fashion bloggers going vintage.
Maybe in future edits, I may expand upon the vintage theme to include more material. For now, this is a blog post mostly about vintage fashions worn by various fashion bloggers.
Many who enjoy thrift shopping find joy in putting together looks based on vintage items. It is great to have such vintage influences in putting outfits together. You may head to certain vintage stores or thrift shops to put together your vintage masterpiece. Either that, or just find some vintage items that are still every bit as stylish now as they were then. Also, consider those who don't want to always shop at all the major retailers for the latest fashions. Not every girl wants to shop at Forever 21 or someplace for the latest fashions.
I was planning on posting some pictures to set the mood for vintage fashion, but I was unable to find any really good ones. So I won't be using any pictures to set the mood for this blog post.
The real body of this post relies on vintage inspiration from other bloggers. That's what is coming up next!
Each heading features the name of the blog. Each bullet to the section features a blog post featured and the name of the specific blog post. Below each featured blog post is a description of each post. So get an idea of each post before you click on the featured post. It is best you open these links in other windows or tabs (depending on your browser) so you can keep reading the rest of this post of mine.
Oh, and if you get to meet any new bloggers and want to thank me for introducing them to you... then, you're welcome! :) We are all bloggers, and meeting other bloggers around the world is always a cool thing to do.
• tropical pin-up.
Niki wears a cute vintage romper/playsuit with a halter design. Its color and pattern absolutely cry vintage.
• vintage seventies romper.
One romper not good enough for you? Well, how about another? This was featured previously in my blog post about the Jeffrey Campbell "Lita" boots post. Niki wears her "Lita" boots with this vintage romper/playsuit. Vintage meets modern in this one.
• it's just tequila and the beach, that's why it's salty when we kiss.
Niki is rocking vintage chic again with a cute pair of flared jeans. This is hippie love from this beachy cutie.
• Never too late...Outfits!
Seven outfits are featured. Outfits #2 and #5 are very vintage in appearance. The second outfit is VERY vintage in looks while #5 is vintage with some modern twists.
• Seeing Spots
Honestly, I don't think you can do a vintage look any better than this. A light blue dress with white polka dots is adorned with some cute low-heel shoes. Look at the blog post above. I think you'll love it.
• Plenty of Sunshine
Here is a lovely dress along with a pair of vintage earrings and a hot pair of Louboutin platform pumps. Karla is in her mid-20s (as of this blog post), but she shows some '70s chic with this lovely outfit post of hers.
• Prints Charming
Too good for one dress? Here's another! This is a fabulous '70s short dress she wears in "Prints Charming."
• Puffy Prints
While I honestly don't really like the pumps she wears in "Puffy Prints," the blouse she wears in this blog post is purely vintage and lovely.
• bored by the chore of saving face
This is beautiful- a lovely blouse is paired with a groovy pair of flare jeans and some sweet shoes. Have a look at her lovely style in the post above.
• I'm wearing blue, but I'm not feeling blue because I love wearing vintage
While I could feature this post in my popular post on the "Lita" boots from Jeffrey Campbell (I actually have this featured blog post as part of another blog post I'm working on), the main highlight is the vintage shirt she's wearing. The blue color is a beautiful royal blue color as it compliments her skirt and her booties, both of which are black. So this is a real blue and black outfit she wears here.
• Style Diary July 2011 - A collection of my favourite looks
A collage of Natalie's favorite looks are featured here. Of all the looks, a good number of them have vintage influence to them. Feel free to gauge her vintage charm in all of the outfit posts featured in this post.
• Can You Be My Flower Boy.?

Have you a blog post with vintage fashion cues or makeup touches that other readers of "John's Blog Space" may be interested in? Feel free to contact me via E-mail and tell me about your vintage-relevant blog post. If I like your post, I may feature it in future edits to better service my readers.

--- Vintage Chic: Why Do It? ---
While there is nothing wrong with wearing some of today's fashions, wearing fashions from and inspired from the past can be just as lovely. Vintage can range from the rebellious fashions of the 1970s to even taking cues from Victorian-era fashion. Various designers and makeup artists have helped to make vintage style trendy even today. Rather than a lot of people embracing some of today's of-the-moment trends, many have found style going back in time while still looking great in the present and for the future. Many who enjoy thrift shopping find joy in putting together looks based on vintage items. It is great to have such vintage influences in putting outfits together. You may head to certain vintage stores or thrift shops to put together your vintage masterpiece. Do You Prefer Warm or Cool Weather?
Warm weather or cool weather? Personally, I prefer cooler weather. There is just something enjoyable about cooler weather than warmer weather. Especially here in Houston, where Summer can be brutally hot, cooler weather is always welcome for us Houstonians. Many people either love cool weather or warm weather. It all depends on what you're used to and what you can really tolerate. There are a number of people from Frost Belt states who lovingly go south and west to get away from the snowy north and east during Fall/Autumn and Winter.
But which do you prefer- warm weather or cool weather? I've been wanting to debut this new label for my blog posts for the longest, and here you go:
Most females enjoy wearing capris, skirts, and certain dresses to take in the warm weather. That's why most love wearing their short shorts and mini skirts on such warm days. I refer to this as beating the heat by looking hot. :) These times of year are usually the times where you normally see beach-inspired fashions and surf-inspired fashions take over for wardrobe. Girls usually embrace the warm weather times with shorts and skirts from makes like Hollister, Abercrombie and Fitch, Volcom, and brands like those.
Sports fans enjoy and know warm weather times for sports like baseball. Various Spring and Summer sports are also popular and well-loved around these times of year.
For many that love warmer weather, most people dislike cooler weather because of having to wear layers and bundling up. Many people feel like wearing shorts and sandals rather than longer jeans/pants and covered shoes. A number of females are reluctant to tuck jean legs and pant legs into a chic pair of boots. From my popular "Party Time!" blog post, there are lots of ladies who would love to head out on the town in cocktail dresses.
I know and love this time of year for gridiron football. Then later, basketball season rolls around. So it's a great time to be a sports fan this time of year.
So where do you stand- warmer weather or cooler weather? Take your pick! Thank you for reading!

"Take Your Pick" is a blog label regarding my readers to pick one or more sides of something. I will mostly encourage my readers to choose between one or more featured items. The point is for my readers to choose between two or more different items featured in a post. My hope is to get some more involvement and commentary from readers.--- Take Your Pick: Warm Weather or Cool Weather? ---
So where do YOU stand? Please note that "warm" can mean warm days and hot days, and "cool" means cool days and cold days. Why Warm Weather?
For most people, not having to wear layers or heavy clothing are the main reasons why many love warm weather more than cool weather. There are also those who enjoy going to the beach. No better way to enjoy life on the beach or in coastal areas than on a warm/hot day. People also love wearing shorts for warm days, and many others also love wearing sandals to embrace the warm weather. And not one day will go by where you will see at least one pair of flip-flop/thong sandals being worn on these days.
Why Cool Weather?
Cooler weather allows you to dress comfortably and not have to worry about battling the heat. My idea of a beautiful day is a sunny day with temperatures between 65°F to 79°F. I also like sunny cool days that have only calm winds or even breezy days. Considering how hot it can be in Houston, anyone sick of the Texas heat reluctantly look forward to cooler weather times.

Ballet
(UPDATED: October 16, 2011)
Whether you love it for its grace or if you dislike it because it's too "pretty," ballet is one of the greatest showcases of grace and spirit among any art. It is by far one of the most popular and oldest performing arts in existence today. Both males and females ranging from children to adults take part in the beautiful and graceful art of ballet. This blog post is my contribution to ballet. I don't know much about ballet or is any kind of aficionado of ballet, but I will do my best to discuss and showcase ballet in a classy and respectful manner. I hope you will enjoy my blog post on ballet.
If any of you are in ballet or have done ballet before, I'd like to salute you and thank you for visiting John's Blog Space!
(from Wikipedia) The origins of ballet originate back to the the Italian Renaissance courts in 15th Century, and then later enhanced by the French and Russians. Ballet is something that requires great concentration and grace to be amazing. No one average person- not even my out-of-shape self- can ever do any of these moves as gracefully as a conditioned and trained ballet dancer. There is an exact science to precisely and properly executing the many maneuvers ballet dancers make. A good deal of fitness and exercise can help in more precisely executing each stunt and performance. I don't know the name of any such ballet moves even if my life depended on it.
Anaheim Ballet mentions ballet as a "beautiful strength." This video will set the mood for the style of dance to be showcased in this blog post:
You have now been introduced (by me) to ballet. You can read much more about ballet from a much more qualified source than I by reading the Wikipedia page on Ballet.
I guess for a lot of people, ballet is too pretty and girly and soft. Like EVERYTHING is supposed to be hard and raw. Almost as if many people believe those who are in ballet are somehow wimpy and couldn't fend for themselves if in a compromising position. Then again, who said ballet dancers are as tough as gridiron football players or any hockey players? I think people often look beyond the grace and charm of ballet and just think of ballet as a pretty art form where everything is seemingly perfect. The training to have everything perfect is tough. I wouldn't survive one day in ballet class, let alone multiple days trying to get EVERYTHING perfect.
If you'd like to learn about more ballet misconceptions, I invite you to read "Ballet Myths Busted" at www.theballetbag.com.
Leotards are usually accompanied with tights to complete an outfit. Unitards can be thought of as rompers/playsuits or jumpsuits for ballet dancers. They consist of the leotard top and are joined with either short legs or pant legs as part of the whole outfit.
And of course...
You are probably thinking of ballet flats if you're reading this. However, ballerina slippers are the real dancing shoes of ballet dancers. These shoes were specifically designed for ballet dancing. They contour to the feet and are more comfortable to wear for the various routines and moves such ballet dancers execute. The appeal and style of ballerina slippers found their way into ballet flats you've probably seen or worn. I asked online what makes ballet flats different from ballerina slippers, and one girl said that ballerina slippers were specifically made for ballet dancing; not just to wear with your outfits casually. The cute ribbons and bows you see on most ballet flats usually originate from the lovely ribbons and straps you see on ballerina slippers. Just know that your ballet flats are for wearing with your outfits; ballerina slippers are graceful shoes to wear in your ballet routines and moves.
Pointe shoes are so beautiful with the ribbon ties to secure them. Pointe is so graceful and beautiful as a form of ballet dance. Pointe shoes offer a basic ballerina shoe with many ribbon ties to help secure them. To get an idea of what Pointe is like, I have found this video, courtesy of the Ballet Center of Houston. Take a look at this video and see these Pointe shoes in action as well as pointe ballet:
By the way, I doubt they were wearing blue in support of my blog. ;) The song playing in the background is beautiful.
Many of these items have even influenced everyday fashion. In fact, the movie "Black Swan" in 2007 offered up a look at ballet-inspired fashion. For a detailed look at ballet-inspired fashion, please check out this site: "ballet inspired fashion" on dancemana.biz.
• Russian Ballet
I mentioned Russia as one of the key players in the evolution of ballet. Well, a young lady named Natalia Osipova at Moscow's (as in Moscow, Russia) Bolshoi Ballet Academy performs a ballet routine for all of you in this video. Take note of her graceful moves. This is a beautiful performance:
• Twinkle Toes!
Here are some videos showcasing a few different ballet moves.
Italian fouettes are performed by this (then) 13-year Canadian old girl named Alys Shee:
How about some pirouettes? Here you go:
Finally, here are some arabesques. These are done beautifully by this lady:
• Ballet Boys
My objective in blog posts like this one is on factual material. So therefore, I tried to find a proper video to suit this section. I tried to find a proper video on a male in ballet rather than some random video of males fooling around as ballet dancers. I don't have just one video... I have two. Many people think that males who practice ballet are gay or wimpy. Fact is- males have performed ballet LONG before mostly females have taken up the ballet scene. So what you're about to see is the kind of ballet most have come to know before most know ballet as a girly form of dance.
Believe it or not, what you will see in the first video is classic ballet... but are all played by males! Before women essentially took on these ballet roles, these roles were played by men. So have a look at this interesting video featuring men wearing feminine ballet outfits and wigs:
This male performer practices in contemporary ballet here. Check out his moves here:
• Ballet Fun With Kids
This video could not be embedded. Therefore, I will make this link regarding the video. This is a very cute and fun video of a little girl (then) 10-years old showcasing a vivid imagination coupled with ballet dancing.
Again, embedding was disabled. So if you want to see this video, click on "KIDS BALLET DREAMS Rochelle Marks (10yrs old)" on YouTube.
There are your video inspirations on ballet. Hope you enjoyed your time here!
So uh, keep doing your thing! You dig? :)
So here are some resources for you ballet dancers. More will be added in future edits. These are all my own words on each resource. I am not paid anything to talk about any of these resources in the way that I do:
Again- more items should be made available to this blog post should I find some more worthy resources. If there are some you think I should consider posting, I would appreciate if you contacted me via Email. Help me help my reading/visiting audience.
Special request for all of my readers- please help support my work by finding items online featured in my blog posts. One such way is by checking out these items on Amazon. --- Ballet Misconceptions ---
I touched on it a bit in the introduction. I won't name all of them, but I will touch up on some of the most common misconceptions.I guess for a lot of people, ballet is too pretty and girly and soft. Like EVERYTHING is supposed to be hard and raw. Almost as if many people believe those who are in ballet are somehow wimpy and couldn't fend for themselves if in a compromising position. Then again, who said ballet dancers are as tough as gridiron football players or any hockey players? If you'd like to learn about more ballet misconceptions, I invite you to read "Ballet Myths Busted" at www.theballetbag.com.
--- Ballet Outfits ---
Let's see these ballet dancers in their outfits. This is ballet from a style perspective. All of these are descriptions of what most ballet folk wear.Leotards and Unitards.
The most basic outfit for any ballet dancer is a leotard. Leotards cover the body much like a one-piece swimsuit. Some leotards may or may not have sleeves to them (most do not). These leotards mostly are in spandex, but some may even be polyester among other materials.Leotards are usually accompanied with tights to complete an outfit. Unitards can be thought of as rompers/playsuits or jumpsuits for ballet dancers. They consist of the leotard top and are joined with either short legs or pant legs as part of the whole outfit.
Ballet Skirts.
Dress yourself up a bit with a ballet skirt. Accompanied to a leotard or unitard, a little extra diversion is offered to your ballet outfit with these skirts.Ballet Dresses.
As beautiful as any leotard, a ballet dress can be equally graceful and beautiful to wear. What girl wouldn't want to be just a bit more lovely in her ballet dancing?Tutus.
The tutu is a petticoat for ballet dancers. Just put one on and twirl to your heart's delight! And of course...
Ballet Shoes.
Ballet shoes are mostly form-fitting shoes designed for various foot movements. A good pair of shoes designed for tip-toe moves and bending the feet are needed for various ballet dancers. Two of the most common ballet shoes are your basic ballerina slippers and pointe shoes. Their soles range from full sole shoes to split sole shoes. My best guess is that they offer different levels of comfort and control when performing ballet moves. --- To All Who Practice (or Have Practiced) Ballet... ---
You all are the ones who help exhibit and showcase what makes ballet so enjoyable and graceful. You help showcase the beauty and grace of such fluid movements while also dancing to lovely musical scores. It is just too bad you ballet folk get such a bad rap from most people. Those especially include people who think ballet is just pretty and wimpy, like everything has to be hardcore and tough. People fail to realize (let alone appreciate) all that goes into being great ballet dancers. I am not any kind of serious fan of ballet, but I greatly appreciate what all goes into ballet. So uh, keep doing your thing! You dig? :)
