East Asian Beauties

(UPDATED: April 9, 2012)

I take my Beauties blog posts to Asia now. The next series of posts regards beautiful ladies from the world's largest continent- Asia. I begin with lovely ladies from Eastern Asia. Initially supposed to be about just Japanese women, I have extended the scope of Asian beauties to include lovely ladies of East Asia and eastern Asian descent. I would like to welcome and salute all people from the aforementioned countries representing this blog post.

WARNING: Some material in this blog post may not be suitable for all audiences. Videos and pictures are being shown at your own discretion.

LATEST UPDATE(S)/REVISION(S)

APR 9 2012 -

--- Asian Beauties ---

When most people think of Asian people and things, many people (understandably) think of Asia along the Pacific Rim and many of the outlying Pacific islands around Asia. In this series of blog posts regarding Asian beauties, I will showcase various Asian women as some of the most beautiful from this featured part of the world. I will be sure to feature many more lovely ladies from this certain sector of the world in more posts.

Once the series is complete, you may link to any of the following through the list below. Here is a look at the Asian Beauties series:

--- ASIAN BEAUTIES SERIES ---
• East Asian Beauties
• Southeast Asian Beauties
• South Asian Beauties
• Central Asian Beauties

I may plan on doing Middle Eastern beauties separately. Either that, or I may include another blog post in this Asian beauty series to feature Middle Eastern ladies.

Asian Beauties: East Asia.

Initially to be about just Japanese women, I decided to include various East Asian nations (including Japan). I have to continually provide content to please my readers around the world. I had long planned on doing some other "Beauties" post regarding some other sector of the world. I eventually chose to complete my post on Asian women.

The following are all the countries/territories represented in this blog post: Japan, Korea Republic, [People's Republic of] China, Mongolia, Taiwan, Macau, S.A.R., China; and Hong Kong, S.A.R., China

How This Blog Post Works.

You will see certain ladies from the seven represented nations that make up East Asia. Here are the represented nations in order:

• Japan - ladies from Japan and/or of Japanese descent.
• Korea Republic - ladies from South Korea and North Korea, and/or of Korean descent.
• China - ladies from China, and/or of Chinese descent.
• Mongolia - Mongolese ladies and/or those of Mongolese descent.
• Taiwan - Taiwanese ladies and/or those of Taiwanese descent.
• Macau, S.A.R., China - those born in the Chinese Special Administrative Region of Macau.
• Hong Kong, S.A.R., China - those born in the Chinese Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong.

So let's get started! Some information on featured people were provided by Wikipedia searches. I may only make mention to certain ladies if I can't find pictures, websites, or videos on each featured lady. Don't forget that I may edit this post from time to time to update my material.

By the Way (and Just for Fun)...

I learned a new word coming up with this blog post: "blasian." Blasian is a term meaning someone who is a mix of Black and some variation of Asian. Some Blasian ladies will be featured in this post. I think a more technical term for "Blasian" is "Afro-Asian."

--- East Asian Beauties: Japan ---

Initially, this blog post was supposed to be about just Japanese beauties. Then, I decided to have it be about Japanese, Korean, and Chinese ladies. So I decided to make a post to satisfy many audiences. There are many lovely Japanese ladies to me. Some of the many favorites will be featured here.

Because I wanted this post to be about Japanese ladies only, you're going to see a majority of featured ladies from Japan in this blog post.

Konnichiwa, Nihon (bows down in prayer)! ^_^

Asami Konno.

Asami Konno
^ from: japan-zone.com - The sweet-faced Asami Konno.

Formerly of Hello! Project fame, Asami Konno (or Kon-Kon) has a sweet face and lovely hair. The (born: May 7, 1987)-year old is as sweet as sugar along with a sweet smile and a great singing voice. Asami Konno also has played as a football goalie for the Gatas Brilhantes Hello! Project futsal (indoor football/soccer) team. In fact, Asami is a very sporty girl. Watch Kon-Kon in action as a goalie in this video below (she's #12 on the team):

If you want to see more pictures, I have found a Picasa gallery featuring more kawaii pictures of Asami Konno. Take a look if you're interested: Picasa Gallery featuring Asami Konno.

Risa Niigaki.

Risa Niigaki
^ from: www.freewebs.com - Equally sweet-faced Risa Niigaki.

(Born: October 20, 1988)-year old Risa Niigaki was also part of Hello! Project in her past. Like Asami Konno, Risa is also super-cute and has also played for the Gatas Brilhantes Hello! Project futsal team. Let Risa-san sing for you! She sings "Never Forget" solo in this video:

Rio Natsume.

Rio Natsume
^ from: celebrity.the-best.org - The deliciously sexy former gravure model, Rio Natsume.

Rio Natsume is a sexy buxom who used to be a gravure model. In fact, Rio was the first-ever gravure model whom I became a fan of. She no longer is a model. So with this said, her hot and sexy pictures still resonate with me even to this day. I salute and say hello to Rio Natsume if she is somehow reading this blog post of mine. You're one of the sexiest women in this universe. STILL one of the sexiest even if no longer modeling. Truly a gravure goddess.

Yoko Matsugane.

Yoko Matsugane
^ from: www.yokomatsugane.org - Gravure model Yoko Matsugane and her copious breasts.

Like Rio, Yoko Matsugane is another busty beauty. I learned of this gravure hottie around the time I learned of Rio Natsume. She, too is a deliciously hot Japanese lady.

Saori Yamamoto.

The sweet-as-sugar Tokyo native Saori Yamamoto is both a model as well as a musician. She plays some alternative rock music aside from her lovely modeling pictures. Here is a video showcasing the super-cute Saori Yamamoto:

Isn't she cute? ;)

Sayaka Isoyama.

Sayaka Isoyama is one seductive Japanese hottie. Luscious curves and a sweet face make her a truly lovely lady. Here is a look at this lady in this video. Just goes to show you how Japanese girls can perfectly balance cute and sexy:

If you want to see how hot Sayaka Isoyama is, here is a YouTube video for you. I decided to post a link to this video since I want to keep my blog post as world-friendly as possible. Be warned... this video, while not considered as objectionable by YouTube, may not be safe for work. So here is the video: "Sayaka Isoyama in Black" on YouTube.

Mayumi.

Mayumi used to be a model and a grid girl. I best know her as being a race queen for Symbolic Motor Car and the STP Taisan team. The combination of a sexy race queen as well as having absolutely beautiful looks makes this cute from Osaka memorable for me. She no longer does modeling. In fact, there was an unfortunate incident when she was hit by a car and had to deal with having lots of pain in her back. I do hope she's well however she's doing right now.

I honestly can't find any pictures or videos on her that I can actually use, but I don't want to forget her because Mayumi is a very beautiful lady. So if you want to see pictures of her (albeit old pictures), I invite you to view these images on IGN's UK site.

Namie Amuro.

When I was learning about Japanese pop, I've always learned of Namie as the queen of JPOP. Here is a sample of Namie Amuro's singing:

(A possible blog post on her is something I'm not ruling out in the future.)

Ayumi Hamasaki.

Ayumi Hamasaki
^ from: neoseeker.com - Ayumi (or just "Ayu") Hamasaki.

While many would consider her the Britney Spears or the Paulina Rubio of Japan, (born: October 2, 1978)-year old Ayumi Hamasaki is one of the all-time best in the realm of Japanese pop. I've known her in supplying the theme to the PlayStation 1 RPG, "Thousand Arms."

(A possible blog post on her is something I'm not ruling out in the future.)

Aya Matsuura.

Aya Matsuura is one of many alums of the supergroup Morning Musume. My all-time favorite song of hers is "Love Namida Iro." This young singer has also been in a variety of commercials and even done some acting. And oh, did I mention she's super cute? :) See for yourself by checking out this classic song. It's "Love Namida Iro" below:

(A possible blog post on her is something I'm not ruling out in the future.)

EmyLi.

This young and beautiful Japanese singer is EmyLi. One of her first hit songs was "Tekito Lover." This song and the video for it can be heard below:

I blogged about EmyLi long ago. To see it, read "EmyLi" on John's Blog Space.

Yuki (of Roconamente).

As part of the duo known as roconamente, Yuki is the kawaii singer who wears creative outfits and expends her creative energy in her music. roconamente is best known for cover songs of anime songs as well as some non-anime songs. The one doing the singing is the super-cute Yuki. I blogged about roconamente in my blog post called "roconamente" here on John's Blog Space. How cute is Yuki? Here is one of her performances on YouTube (you may need to turn down the volume):

My blog post on roconamente can be read here: "roconamente" on John's Blog Space.

Riyo Mori.

Riyo Mori
^ from: www.cool-chicks.com - Riyo Mori won Miss Universe in 2007 representing Miss Japan.

Riyo Mori won Miss Universe in 2007. She is only the second Miss Universe winner from Japan, the first Miss Japan winner was Akiko Kojima back in 1959 (no relation to Hideo Kojima, at least I think).

Kurara Chibana (fan page link).

Kurara Chibana is a (born March 27, 1982)-year old model. This is a brief video showcasing this beautiful lady:

Chiaki Kuriyama.

Chiaki Kuriyama
^ from: xyface.com - Whether you know her as Chiaki Kuriyama or Gogo Yubari, she's still a Japanese beauty.

As I was putting the finishing touches to this blog post, I wanted to make mention to one lady you may have heard of from "Kill Bill: Volume 1." She swings a mean morning star playing as one of the villains in "Kill Bill: Volume 1." This girl is known as Gogo Yubari in the movie, but away from this movie, she is (born: October 10, 1984)-year old Chiaki Kuriyama- a Japanese girl with some very long hair.

HitomiNeko.

HitomiNeko is the blog of a young deco designer. Hitomi also provides some beauty insight. This is a Taiwanese-American (?) blogger is beautiful in looks as well as in speaking. She personifies cute on so many levels, it's insane. Here is how cute she is with this video as she introduces herself to you:

Keiko Lynn.

Keiko Lynn was born in Florida and resides in Brooklyn. This young fashion blogger is 25% Japanese, so this beauty very much qualifies as part of the East Asian beauties. She is also big on beauty in addition to fashion. Another thing dear to Keiko Lynn's heart are animals, which she cares very deeply for. Postlapsaria is her own fashion store. This video introduces you to this beautiful young lady:

Her blog can be reached at www.keikolynn.com. Visit today!

Arika Sato (Honorable Mention!).

Japanese-American beauty Arika Sato is mostly known as a contestant on MTV's "Paris Hilton: My New BFF" reality TV competition. Her ambition to become a celebrated star in TV and media is an ambition I proudly cheer her on for. This lady is immensely entertaining, immensely beautiful, and immensely hot! To read my old blog post on her, check out "Arika Sato" here on John's Blog Space.

Kimora Lee Simmons (Honorable Mention!).

She's the queen of all things Baby Phat. She lives life in the fab lane. And... she happens to be Afro-Asian. Kimora Lee Simmons was born on May 4, 1975 in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. Her mother is Korean-born Japanese. Here is a sample of Kimora Lee Simmons in this video:

Maria Ozawa (or Miyabi).

With a Japanese mother and a French-Canadian father, Maria Ozawa (with the stage name of Miyabi) is a sexy former adult video model. The (born: January 8, 1986)-year old is one of my own Capricorns. Maria is also a lady who has a pretty nice booty. :D I read on Wikipedia that she is a big gaming fan. Got to love a girl gamer. :) This video is a promotional video of this very sexy woman. It's either this or nothing:

These are some of Japan's beautiful ladies. These are the Japanese ladies as beautiful as the islands and the land they represent. I hope you enjoyed some of the many Japanese natives and Japanese-descent ladies here.

I'm not done yet! I have many other countries and ladies to feature! Read on to see more beautiful ladies profiled (or disregard this line if you are reading the full post).

--- East Asian Beauties: Korea Republic ---

(This section: South Korea and North Korea)

Time to give some beautiful Korean ladies some love here. This section features Korean ladies as well as those of Korean descent.

An nyoung ha seh yo, Korea! ^_^

Park Soo Kyung.

Park Soo Kyung is a Korean hottie with very sensual curves. This delicious beauty was selected as Maxim South Korea in 2006. She is also a Korean grid girl. Did you know Korean girls can be super-hot? If you didn't know that, you'll be a believer once you see this beauty here:

Kim Go-Eun (Byul).

Kim Go-Eun (Byul)
^ from: 2008.yimsiam.com - Byul is a great singer from South Korea.

Kim Go-Eun is better known by her stage name of Byul. I know of Byul best for one of the most beautiful Korean songs I've ever heard. Anyone familiar with Korean drama might have heard of "Full House." This is the Korean drama "Full House," not the popular American comedy "Full House." This may be one of the most beautiful songs you'll hear. Don't believe me? Listen to the theme of "Full House" in this video:

^ "I Think I" by Byul (includes Korean lyrics)

Well? Impressed?

Keira Kang (Facebook Fan Page).

Any long-time reader of "John's Blog Space" may have seen my post on Keira Kang. This young Korean has been through a lot of tumult in her life. She is someone trying to make it in the music realm as well as in the fashion realm. Though her past hasn't been beautiful, Keira is definitely beautiful. Do you want to hear a sample of Keira Kang's singing? Of course you do! Have a listen:

More of her videos can be seen on Keira Kang's YouTube channel. Don't forget also to read my blog post on Keira Kang!

Amerie (Honorable Mention!).

You remember earlier I talked about "Blasian" women? Well, here's one of them. Of Black and Korean descent, Amerie is a singer who is an alum of Georgetown University. She is one of many famous "Blasian" (Black and Asian) women out there. This is the first thing I think of whenever I hear of Amerie. It's the first song to come to mind for me. And really... the ONLY song I know of best from this Black/Korean beauty:

^ "Why Don't We Fall in Love?" (2002) from Amerie's VEVO channel

Yoon Mi Rae (Honorable Mention!).

(born: May 31, 1981)-year old Yoon Mi Rae is a very popular Black and Korean hip-hop artist. She also does some rhythm and blues as well. She was born Tasha Reid. As a native Texan, I'm proud to say that Yoon Mi Rae is one of my fellow Texans- born in Portland, Texas (a suburb of Corpus Christi).

I wish I could embed this video to this blog post. But unfortunately, embedding was disabled. I found a great song where this Black-Korean beauty sings beautifully. I think it's something you really need to hear if you love rhythm and blues-type music. So if you want to hear Yoon Mi Rae sing, click on this link: Yoon Mi Rae - Don't Leave Me (this is a VERY good song!).

These are some of Korea's loveliest ladies. Thanks for reading!

--- East Asian Beauties: China ---
(This section: People's Republic of China)

It's rare I get blog hits from China, but I want to showcase some of China's lovely ladies in this post.

Ni-hao, China! ^_^

Coco Lee.

Coco Lee is a Chinese pop star who has a long history of singing. She was the very first Chinese artist to perform at the Oscars. She made her American debut in 1999 with "Do You Want My Love?" If you have never heard this song before, here is your first chance to see and hear Coco Lee. Trust me, this is a cool song:

^ "Do You Want My Love?" (1999) from Coco Lee

Zhang Zilin.

Zhang Zilin won Miss World 2007. This beautiful (born: March 22, 1984)-year old from Shijiazhuang, China is one of the loveliest Chinese supermodels in the world. She stands 5'11" (the same height as Taylor Swift and Wendy Williams) and has an extensive sports background. Want to know how she sounds? Have a look and a listen:

Allison (Honorable Mention!)

Allison of "Curvy Girl Chic" more than qualifies as an East Asian beauty. The young blogger is Cantonese-Taiwanese. "Curvy Girl Chic" is a blog devoted to plus size fashion. This Asian beauty will astound you with her incredible sense of style. Visit her blog and see her beauty by going to Curvy Girl Chic.

Alexa Chung (Honorable Mention!).

It's on with Alexa Chung! Though British, (born: November 5, 1983)-year old Alexa Chung has some Chinese blood in her. Her father is of Chinese-British descent. What I respect most from a fashion perspective on Alexa is that she doesn't play by any fashion rules. Her own fashion style is... well, hers. This was the best I could find and embed to introduce you all to Alexa Chung:

(A possible blog post on her is something I'm not ruling out in the future.)

So if you want to see more of Faline Song, visit Faline Song's Facebook Fan Page on Photography or Faline Song on Model Mayhem.

Lucy Liu
^ from: hotandnerdy.wordpress.com - Actress Lucy Liu.
(Born: December 2, 1968)-year old actress Lucy Liu is Taiwanese-American. Her roots are Chinese since her parents are from (respectively) Shanghai and Beijing. One interesting experience in her acting career was the movie "3 Needles." It was a movie regarding the AIDS problem in China, Africa, and Canada. I also remembered seeing her as villainess O-Ren Ishii, part of the final battle in "Kill Bill: Volume 1."

HitomiNeko.

HitomiNeko is the blog of a young deco designer. Hitomi also provides some beauty insight. This is a Taiwanese-American (?) blogger is beautiful in looks as well as in speaking. --- East Asian Beauties: Hong Kong, S.A.R., China ---

Finally, here are women born in Hong Kong or from Hong Kong. Those ladies born in the Chinese Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong will be featured here. Saluting all you Hong Kongers!

Maggie Cheung (or Zhang Manyu(?)).

Hong Kong actress Maggie Cheung is among one of the most celebrated actresses. The (born: September 20, 1964)-year old Hong Kong native was the first Asian to win the "Best Actress Award" at the Cannes Film Festival. She has won countless other awards and accolades including the Hong Kong Film Award (five times), the Taiwan Golden Horse award (5 times), and other awards at other different ceremonies. She was even Miss Hong Kong before. Needless to say, this beauty has a deep passion and dedication for her work. She showcases her passion in movies in this video:

Jill Vidal.

Jill Vidal
^ from: www.topnews.in - Jill Vidal is a beautiful Hong Konger who had an ugly moment that has fairly silenced her music career.

Jill Vidal was a singer of rhythm and blues and contemporary music in her native Hong Kong. Unfortunately, some legal troubles have halted her singing career. She and her boyfriend, Kelvin Kwan, were both being accused of shoplifting as well as marijuana usage in Tokyo in 2009. Jill Vidal got involved with trafficking heroin in Tokyo in 2009, and she was later imprisoned for two years as well as being suspended for three years. The (born: April 13, 1982)-year old is still a beautiful lady. She is of Chinese, Filipino, and Korean descent.

Sammi Cheung.

Though she didn't win Miss Hong Kong in 2010, Sammi Cheung still represented Hong Kong in the 2010 as Miss Hong Kong World that year. Sammi lost Miss Hong Kong to Toby Chan (who would later be voted as the "Ugliest Miss Hong Kong") that year. Allow Sammi to introduce herself to you:

Miss Kwong (Honorable Mention!)

Miss Kwong may be one of the most stylish teachers in the world. She believes that not every teacher wears horrid, boring outfits to class. This blogger proves this point brilliantly as she introduces you to her vast array of styles. Recently, she has even adopted the usage of lovely fashion sketches to further showcase her array of styles. Let this Hong Kong beauty show you how to teach... in style! Check out Miss Kwong - From Art to Classroom today!

I will further expand upon my "Asian Beauties" Series to include many more lovely ladies from Asia. Also included in this series, I will eventually talk about lovely ladies from Southeast Asia, South Asia, and the Middle East. Car Style - The Hyundai Elantra (5th Generation)

"The compact car other compact car makers don't want you to see."

Maybe Hyundai said this for good reason. This Elantra marks the 5th generation of the Hyundai Elantra is a Korean offering bound to make you forget about any other compact sedan. Commercials for the Elantra aired during the Super Bowl talking about how compact sedans don't have to be boring. I guess for Hyundai, they got sick of seeing the Mazda 3, Honda Civic Sedan, and Chevrolet Cruze get face time for being hot compact sedans. So on comes Hyundai and their radically-styled Elantra that's made in Montgomery, Alabama, USA for the American market. I saw this first at the Houston Auto Show both on a turntable and on the show floors. My thoughts on the Elantra's looks will be expressed in this blog post.

(sources for my information: Hyundai USA and Wikipedia)

--- Car Style: The Hyundai Elantra (5th Generation) ---
This is the 5th Generation Hyundai Elantra:

5th Generation Hyundai Elantra
^ from (my Houston Auto Show 2011 gallery on Facebook) - Hyundai created perhaps the most beautiful Korean work of art when this car was unveiled.

And this is a video preview of the 5th Generation Hyundai Elantra:

In the eyes of Hyundai, they wanted to create a compact sedan to rival cars like the Mazda 3, Honda Civic Sedan, and the all-new Chevrolet Cruze. Their answer to these cars is the Elantra. The Elantra starts out at an MSRP of $14,830 USD for the GLS model and $19,980 USD for the Elantra Limited. The Elantra is a front-wheel drive car that pushes 148 horsepower and 131 lb-ft of torque from its 1797cc engine. The car weighs anywhere between 2,660 lbs. to 2,877 lbs. Its other 2011 opposition includes the Toyota Corolla LE, Nissan Sentra, Honda Civic sedan, Mazda 3 i SV 4-door, and the Ford Focus SE. Those whom have critiqued the Elantra praised the copious amount of room inside the Elantra. Best bang for the buck is mostly what Hyundai is known for. A nice thing about Hyundai's website (as I was preparing this blog post) is that you could put this car to the test against other similar cars. I'll provide a link to Hyundai USA's website so you can learn more about this car and do your own comparisons. Also, did you know the Elantra is also called the Avante in its native Korea Republic?

Exterior.

I thought the front was a bit unusual at first. After taking more looks at it, the front is absolutely gorgeous! Its curves are sculpted beautifully and don't look too much out of whack. Take note of its headlights, for example. While a bit unusual in design with its curvy lines, it still has gracious style. Both the front grill and front air dam have horizontal bars to compliment its image. The front grill bearing the Hyundai badge is even stylish along with the front air dam and the two fog lights. The front hood/bonnet is styled nicely and smoothly as well.

When you look at the side profile of this car, you see a car which boasts elegant curvy lines. Maybe not the curves of your favorite supermodel, but a car with aerodynamic and graceful charm. The elongated headlights and tail lights only compliment the flowy charm of the Elantra. The car features some bold fender flares, but they are not too bold to where its elegance is violated or tainted. This car just looks like it is best friends with the wind. This car also comes with a sunroof that nicely adds to its character up top.

Hyundai spared no expense in adding elegance to the rear with a nice set of tail lights. More curvy lines add some extra style to its rear. That even includes a rather curvy rear bumper. The rear is charming and smooth. Its swoopy profile is just accentuated and completed at the rear. It is a great looking car that is very luxurious.

Interior.

The exterior is a gorgeous masterpiece, but what about when ready to drive? The dashboard is not as gorgeous as its exterior, but it is very far from ugly. It has a pretty nice looking steering wheel and a nice instrument panel complete with lovely analog gauges. The center console is the nicest-looking element of the interior with a lovely high-definition navigation system (you read right!). The seats are stylish and comfortable. Only the Limited-trim Elantra has heated seats for both the front and rear passengers- the first compact to offer this for both front and rear passengers.

The 5th Generation Hyundai Elantra is one of the most gorgeous cars ever from a Korean automaker. It is a car designed to be both stylish, practical, and safe. I was so amazed seeing this car in print and in person that I couldn't help but fall in love. I'll say it right now- it is one of my new favorite Hyundais in terms of looks. It surpasses the Genesis sedan. Only Hyundai lovelier than the Elantra all-time (to me) is the 2007-2008 Hyundai Tiburon. The 5th Generation Elantra is absolutely one of the most beautiful non-sporty Hyundais of all time. I have never been so much in love with a Hyundai's looks since the 2007 Tiburon. I think this car looks best either in white (rare ANY car looks great in white), silver, or blue. Also, it takes some courage to call your car as a car other's don't want you to see or know about, and be able to back up their claim with a good comparison of itself against rival cars. Hyundai has created perhaps the most beautiful Korean car of all time when the 5th Generation Elantra was unveiled. The likes of Chevrolet and Honda (among others) will have you shy away from Hyundai and their Elantra/Avante, but Hyundai built themselves a potent challenger to woo away anyone who wants to get a compact sedan from any other company other than Hyundai.

Learn more about the 2011 Elantra (or build/order your own) by visiting Hyundai Elantra on Hyundai USA's website. I recommend you visit that site especially if you want to compare the Elantra to other cars in its category.

Keira Kang

(UPDATED: March 28, 2012)

Endurance. Perseverance. Determination. Inspiration. Keira Kang has endured a great deal of hardships in her life. From the divorce of her parents to unemployment, this young Korean-American singer from Los Angeles pursued her passion and made the most of each day. Once you understand her story, you begin to appreciate what all she has faced in her time. Keira has passion both in music and in fashion. Keira sings mostly cover songs on her YouTube channel. For one thing, she has a very nice voice and is a beautiful lady. I would have known nothing about Keira Kang had it not been for a Facebook friend of mine (who will be named later).

This blog post concerns Keira Kang, who is both an inspiration and an enduring fighter. Oh, by the way... she's also very good with pianos and keyboards.

LATEST UPDATE(S)/REVISION(S):

^ from: www.wacowla.com, by way of facebook.com(?) - Keira Kang is a beautiful singer, but this young beauty has endured some ugly experiences in her life.

Once I've read her YouTube profile page and her Facebook fan page, I began to understand all Keira Kang has been through to eventually get to where she is right now. The ability for her to endure and persevere is praiseworthy. It has to be painful to fathom how a young beauty like Keira could have so many ugly moments in her life. What kinds of ugly moments?

Well from her Facebook fan page, her parents divorced at age 10, leaving her mother to raise her and her sister alone. It wasn't easy (as one would imagine). Just trying to live to see the next day while remaining positive was a great challenge. She then wanted to study in college as far away from home as possible without going out of her native state of California. Keira would pursue her other love besides music after graduating from the University of California-Santa Cruz (home of the UCSC Banana Slugs!)- fashion. She would get to take part in and work with some big fashion shows and names (including New York Fashion Week and BCBG Max Azria). Unfortunately in 2009, she would be unemployed. Rather than back down, she wanted to use this negative experience to influence and inspire others through the medium of music. Keira went back into the music realm by posting videos of her singing on YouTube. She even became a finalist in the ETTV Top Idol competition in 2010.

So if there is one thing you can learn from her, never give up on your dreams and don't let setbacks get a stranglehold of your life.

--- Keira Kang Singing ---

Here are a few videos to demonstrate the full range and depth of her singing ability.

One of my favorite songs from 2010 was "Nothing on You" by B.O.B. Here is Keira's rendition:

This is Keira Kang's cover of "Telephone" by Lady GaGa:

Finally, Keira wants to put it down to L.A. with her version of "Empire State of Mind," dedicated to Los Angeles. Shouldn't this be called "Golden State of Mind?" You know, since California is the Golden State? Okay... video time:

One artist she is fond of was someone I mentioned previously in a blog post- young Filipino singer Charice Pempengco. As she said about her in her Facebook fan page, "little girl, big voice!" Her use of the keyboard is proof that one of her other singing inspirations is Alicia Keys. I think Keira has a very sweet voice. It should be enough to draw in even any casual music fan.

BY THE WAY: You can view my popular blog post on Charice Pempengco by clicking on Charice Pempengco.

--- What I Want For Keira Kang ---

For all that she has been through, I mostly pray and hope Keira Kang will become a celebrated star in music and/or fashion. I wish her the absolute best. She has endured a lot and needs that big break that really puts her over the top and into the public eye. Since friending me on Facebook, my deepest prayers and thoughts are wirh Keira that she becomes that mega star in music. I also want her to be a key figure in fashion as well. If she wants to excel in both music and fashion, then more power to this determined diva. I just want the best all aspects of life can provide for her. I want Keira to reach whatever she considers her summit of arts and media. I guess you can say that I'm wanting a happy ending for her after having endured multiple plots, so to speak.

It would also be nice for her to be an inspiration among Asian and Asian-American audiences as well. Part of being a star involves being a star and an inspiration among your culture and your people. Keira would certainly be a great inspiration for her people (among many others).

--- What I Would Tell Keira Kang (if she read this) ---

Keira, I want to thank you for being so loyal and supportive of my work. I have enjoyed listening to your music and vastly support your work. After all the Hell you have endured, I want Heaven for you. I most hope for a happy ending and a real sense of survival. Life is never easy, but I hope things ease for you and that life gets better (and perhaps much better) for you. There will be that day and that time where you will be as celebrated as almost any other figure in your field. My best wishes are always with you no matter where you go.

Would I Want to Meet Keira Kang (if given the chance)?

Absolutely.

Special Thanks...

One I'd especially want to thank is Arika Sato. I think without Arika (or at least being friends on Facebook with Arika), I wouldn't have known of Keira Kang. So I send special thanks to the Japanese-American cutie for sort of introducing me to Keira.

Short Hair

(UPDATED: April 5, 2012)

While I think long hair is beautiful, short hair can be just as lovely. Semi-inspired by my Blogspot friend Glamour Blog (formerly Glamour Bbey). (who has lovely short hair herself), I'm providing this blog entry to discuss short hairstyles. Short hair is a bit more versatile (many others would say more manageable) since you can go for a chic style or go for a boyish cute hairstyle. Even if you already have long hair, you can still wrap your hair up without losing your long locks of hair.

This blog entry is a look at short hairstyles for females.

PERSONAL NOTE: Thanks to all of you for making this one of my most popular blog posts! I never thought that doing a post on short hair would get so many views and get so much support. Please be sure to share your ideas on what you think about this topic by posting comments. Do remember- any suspicious or spammy comments WILL be disallowed. Enjoy this post!

--- Short Hair at a Glance ---

Short hair can be either chic or boyish, allowing for a variety of possibilities and ways to dress it up or down. A bob is the most basic of short hairstyles. Short hair allows for sophisticated style (especially from the more chic) styles. Short hair can range from sophisticated to edgy, from cute to tough, from ladylike to rock star, and from feminine to boyish.

Even if you have long hair, you can still wrap up your long hair to go with a lovely short hairstyle. A simple updo is great if you don't want to trim or cut your long tresses. I will surely count updos as short hairstyles since this is all about short hairstyles. I will even count short ponytails and pigtails as short hair.

You won't find hair advice in this blog entry, but I may provide short hair resources online later in this blog entry or in future blog edits. I will define "short hair" as hair that extends no further than than either the shoulders or below the upper back

--- Short Hair in Pictures ---

Here are some pictures including some text. Let me begin with one of my favorites:

The Posh Bob (or "Pob") and Other Boyish Hairstyles.

Posh bob boyish
^ from: smh.com.au - the Posh bob combines boyishness with feminine cute.

Posh bob
^ from: beautyschoolsdirectory.com - the Posh bob- boy tough, girl cute!

What I love about the Posh bob is its combination of chic and edgy. Its biggest draw is just how one layer of hair dramatically shapes one side of a lady's face. It's a boyish hairstyle that's uniquely feminine. Here is another variation of this lovely hairstyle:

Posh bob feminine
^ from: huffingtonpost.com - a more feminine version of the Posh bob.

Unlike the previous picture, this one still provides great feminine appeal while providing some edge. The Posh bob has been highly regarded among most ladies for its edginess and cuteness.

boyish cute bob
^ from: hairstyleslibrary.com - an ultra-feminine bob, but with a boyish touch.

I finally end this area by showcasing this bob I found in a Google Images search (that's how I do most of my image searching). This is smooth and sophisticated with a little bit of boyish charm. The end result is a feminine hairstyle with a little bit of boyish charm. I'd see it as a cute way to have a boy's hairstyle while not being overly boyish. Hairstyles such as the Posh bob or the one I just glanced on is a good way to enjoy boyish cute style.

Asian (Oriental) Bobs.

(NOTE: I may consider a future blog entry exclusively about Asian hairstyles. If I do make it, consider this section as a preview of that blog entry.)

I included Oriental to note this is mostly about hairstyles for Southeast Asia and the Pacific Rim. Also, I couldn't find any good Indian (as in the country of India) bobs. I think Asian girls are beautiful. Even more so when you have lovely hairstyles such as Asian bobs. Here is a look at some cute bobs for Asian ladies...

Kato Natsuki bob
^ from: hairstylesbob.com - a kawaii Japanese bob from model/actress Kato Natsuki.

Korean bob
^ from: asianhairandbeauty.com - a Korean lady with a bob hairstyle.

When it comes to Asian bobs, their simplicity makes them fun. I usually see bouncy bob hair in regards to Asian bobs. The face is shaped beautifully with these Asian bobs. I think their cute faces to go along with these cute short hairstyles make this look stand out most for Asian ladies.

Curly Bobs (and Curly Updos).

Rihanna curly bob
^ from: becomegorgeous.com - Rihanna's short curly bob.

Selena Gomez curly bob
^ from: prommafia.com - sweet as sugar Selena Gomez with her equally sweet curly bob.

I always say that curly is cute. That's true for curly short hair as it is for curly long hair. Shaping your face with curly locks of hair provides a catching and beautiful touch. Personally, I think curly short hair can be fantastic for formal and semi-formal occasions. You need a hairstyle that is beautiful and sophisticated. Short curls of hair can be just as lovely as having long curly hair.

What if you have long curly hair, though? No problem. Just take inspiration from this young lady:

Taylor Swift curly updo
^ from: aaa-fashion.com - Taylor Swift's usually long hair done up for a short hairstyle. This was from the Grammy awards last year or so.

Taylor Swift sometimes goes from her long hairstyle to a sophisticated short hairstyle. Taylor is usually looks like a goddess anyways. This updo of her hair adds a sophisticated touch apart from her goddess-like long curly hair. A lovely pair of earrings (or maybe some hair accessories) can help make your beauty stand out even more.

Spiky Short Hair.

Kim Rhodes spiky hair
^ from: buddytv.com - spiky hair from actress Kim Rhodes.

Kim Rhodes of Disney's "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" is someone who comes to mind when I think of spiky hair. The native of Portland, Oregon has a whole host of lovely short hairstyles, mostly boyish hairstyles. Really on the show, she has a unique combination of boyish cute with girly charm. Another lady comes to mind for spiky-type hair...

spiky hair
^ from: americansfortruth.com - This lady from Metarie, Louisiana has a famous daytime TV talk show. Can you guess who she is?

...and that would be Ellen DeGeneres. Ellen DeGeneres is surely one of the funniest women on television. She also has very nice short hair.

When it comes to spiky hair, the challenge (at least, to me) is to have boyish hair while still remaining uniquely feminine. You can either be boy-meets-girl or punk/rock with spiky hair. Here is another example of boy-meets-girl spiky hair:

boy meets girl spiky
^ from: shorthaircutstrends.com - boy-meets-girl! But what do you think- does she look more boyish or more feminine?

boyish spiky hair
^ from: greatestlook.com - this is much more boyish spiky hair than the previous picture.

Now let's change attention over to the rock crowd. We set the tone with spiky rock hair:

emo spiky hair
^ from: photobucket.com - spiky hair is popular among rock and emo folk (males and females).

I'm not much of a rock person or emo person, but you probably are or know someone who is. Rock and emo basically exaggerate toughness and edginess, even glam rock. Either hair spray or hair gel will help maintain spiky hair.

Ponytails (Only Short Ponytails).

Wrapping up your hair in a ponytail is a very simple short hair look. If you're a fan of my "Sporty Cute!" blog entry, then ponytails are definitely sporty cute.

short ponytail
^ from: blackhairplanet.com - a beautiful short ponytail worn by an ebony female.

I actually wanted to find more short ponytails, but couldn't find anything really better than this one. But always remember- blog entries of mine just don't go to die. I may update this blog with more content in the future.

Other Short Hairstyles (and Random Shout-Outs!).

Here are various other short hairstyles I've found online and haven't categorized. It's also a chance to send a special shout-out through this blog post. These are only pictures of short hairstyles from these ladies mentioned. They range from cut hair to wrapped-up hair:

Paula Deen.
Paula Deen short hair
^ from: b105.com - Paula Deen and her beautiful silvery short hair.

Paula Deen (whom I've blogged about previously), to me, is a beautiful queen. The Georgia girl certainly the queen of Southern cooking. Her short hair looks wonderful.

Paris Hilton.
Paris Hilton bob
^ bobhairstyles.co.uk - Paris Hilton's Bob is hot! :)

Sophisticated and elegant are two words that come to mind as Paris Hilton rocked this bob at the Teen Choice Awards once. Whether you like Paris Hilton or not, she does know how to look sophisticated and chic.

Hello Lucie!. (click hyperlink to visit blog)
This young short-haired lady is very beautiful with her outfits and her fashions. Her hair and face are about as lovely as the various fashion items she wears and features in her pictures.

And finally...

Glamour Blog (formerly Glamour Bbey).. (click hyperlink to visit blog)
My Blogspot friend, Cindy, from Belgium is the inspiration for this blog entry about short hair. This teenager's style is exceptional with her many outfits. Her short hair is more along the lines of boyish cute. Her short hair is very sophisticated and charming. And again, it is her lovely short hair that has become the emphasis for this blog entry on short hair.

Are you short-haired and want me to shout out to you too in this blog entry? Comment this blog entry or even Contact Me via E-Mail. I may just give you some John's Blog Space love too! :-)

--- Cut Long Hair or Not? ---

If you are a long-haired person tempting the idea of cutting your hair, this can be a tough decision. You have one of three options:

• Cut your hair.
If this is what you want to do, then go ahead and do so. Just be sure to stylize your new shorter hairstyle any way you please.

• Make an updo of your already long hair.
You can just updo your hair to a lovely style. This will open the opportunity to have your own unique short hairstyles without getting rid of your long tresses of hair.

• Just enjoy your long hair.
...or just hang on to your long hair. If you love your long hair and wouldn't consider cutting it or doing an updo, that's your call.

Some ladies' hair grow quickly, so unless you want to really have short hair, it's all up to you.

S.E.S.

When first getting into Japanese Pop, S.E.S was the first Korean group or artist I loved. SES stands for the three girls who made up this group- Bada (Sea), Eugene, and Shoo. The first song of theirs I loved was called "Believe in Love." According to what I've read from Wikipedia.

This blog entry coins another seperate label- Korea and Korean. Don't expect too much from this category here because I'm severely uneducated about Korea and Korean culture.

S.E.S. (Bada, Eugene, and Shoo)
^ from: taiyo-sun.org - Bada (meaning "Sea"), Eugene, and Shoo- the three Koreans that make up S.E.S.

Here are a few SES favorites of mine on YouTube, beginning with the first song of theirs I've loved:

^ "Believe in Love" (Live)

^ "Just a Feeling"

^ "Twilight Zone"

Other great songs from S.E.S include (but not limited to) "Oh My Love," "Chance," and "Eternal Love" among others. If you want to get yourself some music from S.E.S., check out S.E.S. on Amazon. Thanks for reading!

BoA (Beat of Angel)

(UPDATED: September 17, 2011)

BoA is the greatest non-Japanese star in Japanese pop. Born in Guri, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea on November 5, 1986; Kwon Boa sings beautifully with her amazing voice. You cannot help but levitate to her awesome music. I've read that she speaks very well in Korean and Japanese. But I know her best as the Korean who can sing beautifully either in Japanese or Korean pop.

Here is Kwon Boa (or BoA) here:

^ from: www.eclesiartes.com - BoA... Beats of an Angel.

This is a rather unusual way I introduce my latest blog label- Korea and Korean.

About the Label: "Korea and Korean":

This blog post is dedicated to all things Korea and Korean. I hope I can get more readers from the Korea Republic with individual topics related to Korea, Koreans, or all things Korean.

My respect of BoA began this song:

^ "Someday Somewhere"

^ "Jewel Song" (Live, Japanese)

^ "Shine we Are!"

This is not a song, but a nice video interview about BoA. She has a cute laugh:
