They're Still My Team

Your favorite team has a crappy season. Are they STILL your favorite team, or have you become loyal to some other team? Imagine how I've felt all season long as the 2011 Houston Astros finished 56-106 this season by losing 8-0 to the Cardinals. What was sad was that there were more people who cared more about the other playoff races while my Astros just did next to nothing to try to put up any kind of fight tonight.

I've stopped caring about this season as the Astros kept losing and losing and losing. At one point, I was already looking forward to Texans football as the Astros kept tanking games. The one thing I've been angered about is how far they've fallen since their improbable 2005 World Series run. There hasn't been a GREAT Astros team since the 100+ win Astros back in 1998.

After watching the game between the Cardinals at Astros tonight, I really sensed just how much faith most Astros fans had for their 2011 team- next to none. There was more cheering for the Cardinals and for other teams than in the Astros putting up any kind of fight. Almost as if nobody cares the Astros were playing. Fans do have reason to be disappointed in the 2011 Astros, but this was just depressing to watch and hear. The only positive was the great commentary from the TV and radio teams for the Astros. St. Louis put up five runs in the first inning alone. They eventually pounded my boys 8-0 with 12 hits and no errors. My Astros failed to score any runs, only managing two hits and one error. I still watched the game to show that I am not a fairweather fan (explained in the next section). However, this was just a small example of just how bad my beloved baseball team has been this season.

Fan Loyalty.

For many fans, they want to follow winners. Never mind following your favorite team through thick and thin- it's about following who's hot. Such fans are considered "fairweather fans," where they only are only bandwagon fans of teams that are hot. I hate that my Astros failed miserably this season. Basically, no expectations or hope that a team even remotely improves. Where did this lead us? A crappy season. It's one of the worst for the Astros since debuting as the Colt .45's back in the 1960s.

Regardless of our crappy season...

They are still my team.

Why give up on something you love or support? Chicago Cubs fans still love the Cubs even since the Cubbies won the World Series 100+ years ago. Los Angeles Clippers fans still love the Clippers even if they share the same building with the Los Angeles Lakers. I need not even mention the Oakland Raiders or Baltimore Orioles.

When you are a fan of a team that you really love, you honor that team through thick and thin. Let me ask any of you parents out there- if you are the parent of at least one child, especially a child that isn't doing that well in life or school, do you root on some other child of another family while leaving behind your own child? Well, why do that with a sports team you love?

Feeling like there's no hope in sight is what it was like when my Houston Texans finished 2-14 one season. Of course, that was the season when Mario Williams was selected in the following season's NFL Draft ahead of [Houston native] Vince Young and Reggie Bush. You obviously get upset your team isn't doing all that great, but you never stop rooting for your favorite team. I'm not going to switch to respecting some other team just because the one I love most is doing so poorly. I think some fairweather fans still love a certain team but only go with a certain team as a strategic measure. You know, the strategic measure of, "please do better, or I'll start rooting for this team instead."

Cheer on Your Favorites!

You can root for whatever teams and athletes you want. Regardless, if you love a team or a certain athlete, you cheer on that team/athlete to your heart's content as a sports fan. I love a team or athlete with my utmost amount of respect. In no way am I a bandwagon fan. Also, I couldn't care if you think I'm a pathetic fan just because I support a team/athlete that's not all that good. Take me- I don't care if I'm disliked because I'm a Rockets fan regardless of what Spurs, Mavericks, and Lakers fans think. Even as an Astros fan, I do highly respect the New York Yankees. Even as a University of Houston fan, I think the University of Texas is the best schools in almost any NCAA sport.

You cheer on your favorite teams and athletes regardless. No matter what teams/athletes I love...

They are still my team(s).

He/She is still my favorite athletes.

A Brief Houston Sports Rant.

Having said this, I sincerely hope the Houston Astros (along with many other substandard Houston pro and college sports teams) never have such pathetic seasons and tough luck EVER AGAIN. It's sick to my stomach that the city of Houston has had so few pro sports championships. I still remember the back-to-back Clutch City years for the Houston Rockets. I recall the Houston Comets being the first WNBA dynasty. Two years in Houston, two championships for the Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer. I just want Houston sports to really flourish rather than always be among the "pathetic sports cities" year after year.

A Quick Shout-Out...

I want to quickly shout out to Bob Ford Productions down in Galveston for complimenting me on the kind words I've made about him. Bob Ford is the PA announcer who can be heard during Astros' home games. He also does voice-overs for a variety of FOX Sports stations as well as for Houston PBS among others. For more information on Bob Ford, please visit www.bobfordproductions.com.

One last time- my Astros may have been terrible this season... but they're still my team. Some seasons just don't work out. I just hope we don't have as disappointing season like this ever again. That's even if we have to fire Ed Wade (or a bunch of other people) just to be any real contender again. Thank you for reading!

Lady Antebellum

(UPDATED: April 9, 2012)

Lady Antebellum a country group you may have heard of before. Better TV describes them as being "a little country, a little rhythm and blues." This is a country trio from Nashville, Tennessee, USA. While I don't listen to country music much at all, this group has amazing singing. Just hearing "Need You Now" and "I Run to You" is enough to get me going. They recently released a new album called "Own the Night." Rather than any really detailed blog post on them, this is more a digest piece on Lady Antebellum. Of course, I'll update and enhance this post as need be depending on the traffic I get to this blog post.

--- Lady Antebellum ---

Lady Antebellum formed in 2006 and consist of this cast of three- Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott, an Dave Haywood. They nearly won what I call the Triple Crown at the 2011 Grammy Awards. Lady Antebellum won Record of the Year and Song of the Year, but missed out on Album of the Year to Arcade Fire (the Canadian independent rockers who I was NOT impressed with). Lady Antebellum is still a very talented group.

So you've never heard their music before? Two classics of theirs will be featured in this blog post. I'd like to thank those on YouTube who allowed these videos to be embedded. Videos that couldn't be embedded will be replaced with links. I still want my reading audience to enjoy this post and its content.

Need You Now.

This was the song that netted Lady Antebellum "Song of the Year" honors at the 2011 Grammy Awards. Prepare to gauge their smooth vocals:

I LOVE their singing!

I Run to You.

Here is another gem from Lady Antebellum. Enjoy this one:

I love this one as much as I do "Need You Now."

And here is one of their latest songs:

We Owned the Night.

This one is new to me, so I'm including this one in addition to the featured songs here. I dig this one, do you too?

I tried to find a video of "Friday Night" to include. While there are videos on YouTube, I fear they may be taken down on YouTube for copyright infringement. So if you want to hear "Friday Night," here is a safe way to hear this song: "Lady Antebellum Friday Night" search results on YouTube.

--- What I Would Tell Lady Antebellum (if they read this) ---

I still think you all should have won the Triple Crown at the 2011 Grammy Awards. However, nothing is more assuring than knowing one has favorites in genres of music people normally don't listen to. I love listening to your music in the realm of country music as much as I do with Taylor Swift (and even Sugarland). Keep up the great work, Lady Antebellum!

Would I Want to Meet Lady Antebellum?

I'd be honored to meet them, even if it's just one or two members of this trio.

That concludes this blog post on this great country trio. If you want more Lady Antebellum, here are ways to get social with them:

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection features some 40 Genesis (or the Megadrive in Japan) games encompassing gaming goodness between 1989 and 1996. Those who have never played Genesis/Megadrive games will have a chance to play classics on either the PlayStation 3 or XBOX 360. The games can be played in standard resolution or up to 720p high-definition. This blog post is my look at this game released back in 2009.

--- Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection ---
Here is a look at this game:

Sonic Ultimate Genesis Collection (PS3 version)
^ from: - Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection (PS3 version).

This game features MANY games to choose from to play. What makes this collection unique is that you are playing complete Genesis/Megadrive games, not just ports of arcade games like some of the other classic collection games I've reviewed before on John's Blog Space. You are also able to make Save States of games so you don't have to worry about starting from scratch all the time. Considering how lengthy many of these titles can be, that's a good thing to be able to use Save States. In case you don't know what a Save State is, it's a popular thing for emulators since you're able to save any emulated game at an exact point and be able to go back to it as many times as you like to better your chances of beating a level or the entire game. Each game can be customized to your liking.

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection has Genesis/Megadrive titles in alphabetical order from "Alex Kidd: In the Enchanted Castle" to "Vectorman 2." Extras (including other games) can be unlocked by playing through certain games. You can even see some bonus videos highlighting on certain past games. There are even some facts and figures on games as well as some art you can see for each regular game. Each game features the full range and scope of design in maximizing the Genesis/Megadrive and its power.

The Genesis Games.

So you know that this package features MANY games? Which ones, though? What "classics" are featured? Well, look at these:

• Alex Kidd - see if Alex Kidd's father is still alive.
• Alien Storm - save the world from an alien infestation.
• Altered Beast - after being awakened by Zeus, power up into a beast and rescue Athena from evil.
• Beyond Oasis - an interesting action RPG with fun gameplay.
• Bonanza Brothers - stir up some trouble by stealing things!
• Columns - think of it as the anti-Tetris. Can be great fun to play!
• Comix Zone - try to survive in your own comic book with this graphically impressive game.
• Decap Attack - a very unusual platformer.
• Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine - a fun puzzle game that can be frustrating later.
• Dynamite Headdy - use your head (literally!) to save the land in this weird platformer.
• Ecco the Dolphin - experience deep sea life as a dynamic and talented dolphin.
• Ecco: The Tides of Time - Ecco is back for more in this more graphically-intense sequel.
• E-SWAT - from human to futuristic crime stopper, save the city from despair.
• Fatal Labyrinth - go through a fortress to eventually battle a dragon on the top level.
• Flicky - rescue the Flicky birds in each stage while avoiding enemies and traps.
• Gain Ground - a top-down shooter which is honestly boring.
• Golden Axe - the Genesis version of the classic beat-em-up. Destroy the Death Adder!
• Golden Axe II - get ready to slay evil yet again!
• Golden Axe III - one more tour of duty including different routes to take.
• Kid Chameleon - can you beat this arcade game that seems too real?
• Phantasy Star II - a futuristic science-fiction RPG. One of the first of its kind.
• Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom - rescue your fianceé from evil!
• Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium - try to survive all the chaos!
• Ristar - a very fun platformer! Go intergalactic to save an enslaved universe from evil.
• Shining Force - a strategy-based RPG with some turn-based play.
• Shining Force 2 - an improved and enhanced sequel to the first Shining Force.
• Shining in the Darkness - a cinematic Shining Force with more traditional RPG elements.
• Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master - put an end to Neo Zeed's madness once and for all.
• Sonic 3 - stop Dr. Robotnik, and what's up with Knuckles?
• Sonic 3D Blast - traverse through an isometric world while rescuing Flickies and beating Dr. Robotnik.
• Sonic Spinball - think Sonic games are tough? Imagine Sonic as a pinball!
• Sonic and Knuckles - play either as Sonic or Knuckles and stop Dr. Robotnik.
• Sonic the Hedgehog - the original Sonic game. Save the land from Dr. Robotnik.
• Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - save the land from Dr. Robotnik. Play as Sonic, Tails (his debut), or both.
• Streets of Rage - rid the city of crime as well as Mr. X's crime syndicate.
• Streets of Rage 2 - Mr. X is back for more as you must once again save the city.
• Streets of Rage 3 - Mr. X returns again in the most detailed SOR to date.
• Super Thunder Blade - pilot a powerful helicopter and destroy all evil- sea, air, and land!
• Vectorman - save the Earth and humanity from a vicious villain.
• Vectorman 2 - a much-more detailed platformer than the previous Vectorman.

In addition to these games, there are nine bonus games to unlock, including the arcade version of Shinobi among others. Here is a word of warning... if you do unlock arcade Shinobi, when you reach Mission 5, the game is automatically over if you are out of lives in Mission 5. So make sure to regularly save your progress to see the ending.

--- Overall Review ---
This game is a great opportunity for Genesis/Megadrive players to relive the good old days of Sega game. It is a chance to relive old memories for classic gamers, or introduce yourself to the Genesis/Megadrive experience if you are new to these games. There is a lot you can do with this game. This classics collection suits a wide variety of games ranging from simple arcade-type games to fully-detailed long (and much longer) games.

Unfortunately, a LOT more could have been done to provide more insight on these games than what basically shipped with this package. I would have liked to have seen more artwork, hearing the soundtrack to these games, maybe some hints on how to play these games. Otherwise... this is a lovely gaming package for Sega fans alike.

If you're trying to collect Trophies/Accomplishments, many of the goals don't seem incredibly hard. In just one weekend, I was able to get up to 30% or 40% of Trophy (PS3, obviously) somewhat easily. It doesn't take too much to rack up getting the goals reached.

Video Preview.

Here is a trailer for this game. Get psyched!

What Games Would I Have Added (Bonus Section!)

While it could only include so many games, there are a few I probably wouldn't mind seeing. These would include both Genesis/Megadrive games as well as games not on these systems. Here are some titles I would have liked to have seen included either as games or as extras:

• Hang-On (arcade only; there was never a Genesis version, but there was one for the Sega Master System)
• Super Hang-On (Genesis and/or arcade version)
• Galaxy Force 2 (Genesis and/or (especially) the arcade version)
• (the AfterBurner series, including arcade versions)
• (OutRun Genesis/Megadrive games, excluding the Genesis/Megadrive version of OutRunners)
• The Revenge of Shinobi
• E-SWAT (arcade version)

I guess I'm really surprised there isn't a single racing game in this collection. Considering Sega's history with racing games, that's sad there aren't any racing games in this collection of Genesis games.

So please honor the classics that have helped establish Sega as a competitor in the console wars. Many think of Sega like Nintendo- a shadow of its former self. Of course, between Nintendo and Sega, who's still in the console-making department?

Did you enjoy my review and look at this game? If so, you can get it on Amazon. Here you go:

My Salute to the LGBT Audience

This post is my salute to LGBT readers who visit John's Blog Space. For those unsure of what LGBT stands for, LGBT relates to those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and people like that. Many topics in this category have been posted by me. I don't know who all visits my blog, but I do want to salute this audience for those who are interested in my content and content under this label. Also, I've never given a proper introduction to this label. This post, then, is a dual-purpose blog post. I will salute the LGBT audience who reads my blog and also provide insight on discussing topics under this category.

--- My Salute to the LGBT Community ---
Having an audience follow and respect your work is always what any publisher of any quality content want. I have to be mindful of various audiences who visit and share my material.

So I would like to honor anyone and everyone lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, intersexed, genderqueer... whatever terminology within this category that defines you. I hope my material in this category is to your liking. None of the material I post is of any taboo. Part of my own influence has been in actually meeting such people. I can honestly say I've gotten to know at least one of each- a gay male, a lesbian female, (maybe) I've met someone bisexual, and I've eventually gotten to know a transvestite. So after teaching myself about certain issues facing LGBT folk and even gaining insight from certain LGBT folk I've contacted (mostly online), I was able to offer my comments and posts online to contribute to this category.

I do not release a label or a blog post if I don't feel able to generate some sort of following or gain some sort of respect from others. Not as many people actually comment (NOTE: I said people; not spammers) on my posts, so I don't know if my material has actually struck a chord with the LGBT community. I do know a significant amount of my audience has been interested in my blog post regarding androgyny in fashion and art. However, I want to know if my work actually has resonated with the LGBT audience in any such way. And if so, how many actually care about my work?

Regardless, I want to honor and thank all of you LGBT folk who support my work. This is more about transparency than anything else.

--- Why Post These LGBT-Themed Topics? ---
You could ask this question for almost every topic and every label I've introduced to this blog. I've actually introduced the LGBT Issues blog label in my blog post about Kim Petras. There are many people who have their own preoccupations and thoughts on people among the LGBT crowd. I have two options as someone who posts about various topics- either tune out a certain audience (and subsequently lose out on expanding my audience), or offer some topics with LGBT themes for those interested in this topic. Guess which one I obviously went with.

Everything I post for "John's Blog Space" is with the intent of providing content that is educational, entertaining, inspiring, informative, or any combination of these items. That even includes LGBT issues. I don't post anything until I feel I can comfortably discuss them. That ultimately leads me into discussing LGBT topics on John's Blog Space. I post these topics because I know there is an audience who has even remote interest in these topics. My general rule of thumb is to never release anything online unless you are completely confident and comfortable in what you post. And I'll be honest- some topics I post on are some that I am not comfortable putting in my blog or discussing. However, I post these topics anyway with a good degree of confidence because I have things to discuss, and people want to know what I think about certain things. Remember that I am responsible for myself. I am not posting material just because someone is watching over me or hoping for me to mention something. I am also not posting anything and trying to word everything in a certain way so I can make somebody happy.

Most of my posts in this category simply feature worthy elements related to or featuring LGBT issues. For example, I may make mention to some sort of same-sex elements or something along the lines of kissing someone of the same sex or something along the lines of crossdressing. Whatever I post is with the intent of being opinionated and factual; NOT along the lines of posting taboo. As an important element of discussing issues, I have to mention "the other side" of things. It adds credibility to posts and comments. I am not saying that taboo and just-for-fun material is bad; I am just saying that it's sometimes refreshing and different to look at things from a different perspective.

--- Final Thoughts ---
As important as any audience, I am always honored to meet new people and receive new support from others. That even includes

For the purpose of this blog post, I want to thank all of you LGBT folk whom have supported my work and read John's Blog Space. I want to post more content in this category/label to further interest the LGBT audience. But again- I don't know how much of my audience is that of LGBT folk. But for the gay/lesbian audience reading this blog and its posts, I salute all of you in this blog post.

You may be a male who prefers the company of other males. You may be a female who prefers the company of other females. You may be male or female and equally love males and females. You may be an androgynous person. Perhaps you are one person, but enjoy crossdressing; or you may be a permanent member of your non-birth gender. Perhaps you are intersexed, genderqueer, or whatever. Whatever the case, if you are proudly among the LGBT audience, and if you read/love "John's Blog Space" or any of my other online material; I salute you and thank you for your support!

Of course, I salute all of my readers for reading my post; but I wanted to take some time and salute the LGBT audience who reads my blog for this post here. Thanks to all of you for reading! If you're an LGBT blogger and want me to shout out to you, feel free to contact me. I'll be sure to make a mention to you. I actually wanted to create a section in this blog post where I salute certain bloggers in the LGBT realm who love my work. But since I don't get too many loyal readers (meaning anyone who doesn't post suspicious material and links to my blog in comments), I don't really know where my audience is that really supports my work. So PLEASE support me if you love my work!

Thank you for reading!

Shopaholic

Many people love to shop. Many more are addicted to shopping. There's nothing wrong with someone who loves shopping. But just like certain things in life, it is possible to be addicted to shopping. So much so, that one risks getting into debt by continually spending and shopping. Being a shopaholic involves being constantly influenced and intrigued to keep spending away until every last bit of money is gone. You know- maxing out credit cards, consistently spending... all of this adds up to you being out of money after spending every last bit of currency.

If you follow certain fashion bloggers, some mention putting spending limits and even implementing set budgets on shopping. Some fashion lovers feel like they MUST have certain garments and accessories. You know- "I GOT to have those pumps." "Those sandals are cute!" "I need those jeans!" The key problem here is in being addicted to spend. It's a combination of a shopping addiction along with a spending addiction. Two wrongs don't make a right.

This blog post is a commentary piece on compulsive shopping.

Compulsive Shopping.

This blog post was not inspired by the famous "Confessions of a Shopaholic" novels, but this video provides a little insight on being a shopaholic. This is the trailer to the "Confessions of a Shopaholic" movie:

This is a more comedic take on being a shopaholic. However, the same principles apply. Compulsive shoppers feel the need to keep buying and buying and buying until their money has all been exhausted. I remember watching one show on the Style Network years ago where some shopaholics were getting some financial experts on their side to help cut their spending habits. Can you imagine having so much a love of shopping and spending that you have to have a financial expert to help you? Imagine going crazy using your credit card to where you start getting into debt.

In coming up with this blog post, I've heard of how some just shop for anything. You know... clothes you're not going to wear, electronic goods that just collect dust, and stuff like that. Some basically buy things just to say they bought them. These are shoppers who feel like buying new things helps them feel better and give them power. While that may be true, think of what happens when you have to pay the bills eventually. You can't have everything. And I quote:

"You can't have everything. Where would you put it?"

-George Carlin
So learn to shop and spend in moderation.

Final Thoughts (and Resources).

You don't need to consistently buy and shop. You do want to have money left over for... countless other things, don't you? It is purely understandable that buying something can help you to feel good. However, you have to practice moderation. You shouldn't have to keep spending and spending until you ultimately become strapped for cash. If you don't NEED it, don't buy it. Why continually feel the need to shop and spend like crazy? You are just simply wasting your money if you feel you have to continually shop and spend to feel satisfied. You must WANT to be in financial trouble if you lack financial responsibility. Set budgets. Impose shopping bans. Do whatever it takes to prevent from being out of money (or falling into debt).

There are services available if you are a compulsive shopper. If so, here are some resources to help you battle your shopping urges:

Shopaholic No More
Shopaholics Anonymous

I may add extra links if I find more resources to help curb compulsive shopping.

Thank you for reading! One note before I share with you my usual closing- let me provide a warning for any would-be spammers. I know I've mentioned debt and other similar material. I am always careful of whatever comments come my way. I am also careful of whatever topics I choose to post about. Therefore... If you even SOUND like a potential spammer, somehow post on this topic through a spam search, or provide links to some questionable websites (I monitor my own traffic, so I can tell) based on this topic... I will immediately shoot down the comment and perform any other needed actions. It just doesn't add up for the majority of my commenting audience mostly have would-be spammers make up the majority of my commenters. That's especially if I've worked to make my material to be as accessible as possible to mostly have spammers speak up. Still- it just doesn't add up.

"Sea of Stars" Theme

UPDATED: September 26, 2011

John's Blog Space didn't see any new posts recently because I was busy trying to modify this blog as much as possible. I modified its appearance by utilizing features from Wordpress blog templates, but still keeping true to Blogspot as possible. This required me to set up an experimental blog. And... that is its ONLY purpose- to test out blog templates while also coming up with newer template designs to dress up my own blogs. The fruits of my labor have culminated with this extensively-modified template. It has actually taken me a few days to extensively try to modify everything in preparation to unveil the latest changes to this blog. The trickle-down effect is that my other blogs will see similar renovations.

This blog post is simply an announcement of my newer theme for JBS.

UPDATE INFORMATION:

SEP 26 2011 - misspelled "jQuery," added some more content

"Sea of Stars" Explained.

The new theme implemented on John's Blog Space is called "Sea of Stars." I was somehow convinced or influenced to come along with a nighttime-inspired design while also being inspired by water. The same blue and gold colors of most of my online content remains intact. However, I have introduced another color to my color scheme to have the underwater influence- teal. The sidebar has a new look to it. To provide the underwater effect, I made a bunch of filled circles to resemble bubbles when underwater. The only problem with this scheme is that my hyperlinked content in the sidebar can be a bit tough to read. I'll work on this and improve this in possible future edits.

In addition, I've done some rearranging to give the blog a fairly new feel. The usual header has been replaced by my first-ever usage of a background image for my blog. Because you're unable to link to images greater than 800px in length through Picasa, I had to cheat the rules a little bit. The background is actually a repeated image, and it is repeated horizontally. The sky to the image is one of my typical nighttime displays, and the watery display has lots of filled circles as it sparkles along with the sky.

BY THE WAY... I named this theme as the "Sea of Stars," but this name has absolutely NOTHING to do with, nor was inspired by the "Sea of Stars" cinema movie promotion by Pepsi in the Middle East.

The New Slider.

In case you haven't noticed, I have added a new slider showcasing all of my work. I may periodically showcase some of my content. Most jQuery sliders have five slides. I found one slide from one Wordpress-derived blog template that suited me best. And so, I've used it and edited it vastly to suit my blog. I was so pleased that it worked well in my primary blog that instead of having five slides for it, I put in ten. The slider will link you to many places you can find me online as well as see some of my own featured content. A blog is a website. As a website and as a blogger, I feel it is necessary to treat this blog like it's something special. So therefore, I've spared very few expenses to provide a different-looking experience of John's Blog Space.

I may regularly update the slider to reflect new changes, choose various featured labels and posts, and things like that. I have to edit this from HTML, though. These changes to the slider will not be as easy as editing HTML or JavaScript through the Layout menu. Here are what each slider represents (as of September 26, 2011):

• Welcome to John's Blog Space! - my welcome to everyone.
• Get Social With Me! - connect to other links of mine.
• Featured Label - I will pick a specific category/label to feature for all of my visitors.
• Featured Post - I will pick a certain blog post to feature for any of my interested readers.
• Subscribe and Follow! - make sure to subscribe and follow my work if you love JBS!
• JohnMarineTube - take a look at my YouTube channel.
• International Appeal - I share enjoying an international audience visit JBS.
• Houston-Galveston Love - the latest blog posts featuring my local-area topics.
• John's Gran Turismo Space - my blog about Gran Turismo and Tourist Trophy.
• Contact Me - if you have an inquiry about my blog, feel free to contact me.

I hope this will help give my blog a more professional touch while also welcoming new readers and visitors.

The Wordpress Influence.

Wordpress is used and utilized by more bloggers (including proper websites) than Blogger/Blogspot templates. I love the Blogger/Blogspot interface, but you can only do so much with it and templates for it. Utilizing elements from Wordpress blog templates I've downloaded and tested out, I was still very happy with this Stretch Denim template (yeah- the newer Blogger/Blogspot templates are slow. So I stayed classic) to where I wanted to modify this one extensively rather than completely go to a Wordpress template suited for the Blogger/Blogspot template.

I have downloaded several templates just to seek inspiration and find something that would fit my blog best. The things I learned helped me to mold my own blog and give it its own personality. I had to take elements from other templates to help build my own blog's template. Other blog templates inspire me to come up with my own designs for my own blog. It is very difficult to come up with a blog template from absolute scratch. While it may sound lazy, this is about the only way to make your own dream blog template without feeling like you need to have a completely different template altogether. You will need to take your current template and modify it extensively. Whatever template you're happy with can be extensively modified to suit your blog and your own tastes.

I hope you enjoy the changes I've made to this blog. There are many more to come. Here are some blog template websites you can visit if you want to modify your own Blogger/Blogspot blog with a different template. Or, you may see these other blog templates for inspiration:

Blogger Templates
BestBloggerTemplates.Net
Our Blogger Templates
Blogger Templates, Tricks, Tools, News.

I actually came across Our Blogger Templates through the Blogger/Blogspot blog, "Chekka Cuomova." Anyhow, those are sites I recommend if you are seeking your own Blogger/Blogspot templates. The best way to make your own blog stand out in looks is to take inspiration from other blog designs. That is, unless you are a pro at making your own unique blogs from scratch. I am still sampling code from other blog templates to help shape my own.

Thanks to my loyal readers for their comments on how I can modify the looks of John's Blog Space. These are not the only changes I am making. I am working on making more changes to help improve this blog for all of you. I may even retire (my term for "remove") some widgets. These changes (and more) will all come along to help further enhance my material. So if there are any suggestions, contact me.

The blog changes are going to be implemented in a piece-by-piece basis. I'll stop with modifying when I feel like I can't spice it up any further. I have more blog posts on more topics to come in the near future. So thanks for visiting John's Blog Space and thank you for reading!
