Ridge Racer Type 4

(UPDATED: May 16, 2011)

Ridge Racer Type 4 is all about Real Racing Roots '99. It's the championship that is all about Ridge Racer action across eight different events in two countries. It's where getting sideways and going real fast go hand-in-hand. It was the final Ridge Racer for the PlayStation 1.

--- Ridge Racer Type 4 Overview ---
Ridge Racer Type 4 (or RRT4) is a racing game all about fun racing action on city streets and highways. But if you think this is your average street racing game, think again. This is where you race cars from four different companies (all fictonal) for four different teams.

Grand Prix Mode.

Ridge Racing Roots '99 consists of a racing season of three stages and eight races. You must finish within a qualifying position to advance to the next race. You have four chances to advance in each race. If you fail after four tries, you must retire from the Grand Prix. You have to finish third or better to advance through Heat 1, 2nd or better through Heat 2, and you MUST WIN all four races in the Final Heat (in other words, anything worse than first means you will not advance). With each heat comes faster cars and tougher competition.

You have to choose between four different teams. All four teams have cars tuned to certain specifications.

* Micro Mouse Mappy - This is a French team recommended for beginners. Cars are tuned for ease of handling.
* Pac Racing Team - This Japanese team is a debutante team in Real Racing Roots. This is the normal-level difficulty.
* Racing Team Solvalou - This is the hard-level team with cars tuned for amazing performance from this Italian team.
* Dig Racing Team - This is a once-successful American team. But thanks to a limited budget, winning with this expert-level team will be difficult (but not impossible).

Once you select a team, you will learn more about the team and then go on to pick a manufacturer. Here are your choices:

* Assaulto - This Italian car maker makes DRIFT cars. Their cars are sexy and fast (as you'd expect). I recommend these cars because they are very easy to drive and drive hard.
* Lizard - The cars made by this American make are DRIFT cars. Driving these cars are dependent on throttle and brake input.
* Terrazi - The most unique cars come from this Japanese maker of GRIP cars. Varied body styles can be had with them.
* Age Solo - The GRIP cars from this French developer are mostly compacts.

Once you're done, you're ready to race!

--- Go Racing! ---
You have three heats and eight races. Here is a brief description of the races you'll take part in:

First Heat.

* Helter Skelter - This is a two-lap race in Yokohama, Japan. Nothing is too challenging about this course. Just be sure to attack the apexes and don't get too slide-happy.

* Wonderhill - This event in Fukuoka, Japan is one of only two events held outside of suburban or downtown area. Only thing to be careful of is the corner coming out of the first tunnel.

Second Heat.

You may get a new car or have your current car upgraded depending upon your performance in the 1st Heat.

* Edge of the Earth - This is one of three American events. Taking place in New York City, NY, USA; this three-lap race starts on an airport runway and winds its way into downtown.
(Fun Fact: This is the course in the demo of Ridge Racer Type 4.)

* Out of Blue - Return to Yokohama to contest this track. It's one of the most bizarre settings- the race is held at 6:30 AM on Thursday morning. Who races at THIS time of day on a weekday? And with a packed crowd, no less? It can be very easy to screw up, so make sure you're alert at all times at every corner.

Final Heat.

You may get a new car or have an upgraded car depending on your performance in the Second Heat. After completing the third race, you may get a new car or an upgraded car based on your performance from the other heat races.

* Phantomile - This course in Yokohama, Japan is the shortest of all tracks in RRT4. This is a three-lap race where you can't afford to make a single mistake where laps just fly by.

* Brightest Nite - This track in New York City is different from the previous event. Rather than a romp through downtown on the highways, you go instead to this fun and festive zone. It also features an awesome jump. Three-lap race.

* Heaven and Hell - This track in Fukuoka, Japan couldn't have had a better name for it. It's the longest course at over four miles long and features some of the toughest corners in all of RRT4. Keep mistakes to an absolute minimum if you expect to win.

* Shooting Hoops - If you made it this far, Shooting Hoops in Los Angeles, CA, USA is the finale of RRR '99. This is a six-lap race around a modified oval where the name of the game is high-speed racing. No need to drift here. If you can keep a consistent racing line for the full six laps, you'll power your way to the championship.

--- Recommended Songs ---
As a bonus, here are some songs I'd recommend playing for each course:

* Helter Skelter - "Pearl Blue Soul"
* Wonderhill - "Your Vibe" or "Thru"
* Edge of the Earth - "Naked Glow"
* Out of Blue - "Silhouette Dance" or "Revlimit Funk"
* Phantomile - "Silhouette Dance," "Quiet Curves," or "Motor Species"
* Brightest Nite - "Naked Glow," "Your Vibe," or "Motor Species"
* Heaven and Hell - "The Ride"
* Shooting Hoops - "Movin' in Circles"

--- Why Should You Get This Game? ---
This is the best Ridge Racer experience you can get for the PS1. You can still enjoy this racing game on a PS2 or a PS3. The graphics are as beautiful as... two games called "Gran Turismo" and "Gran Turismo 2." It's a must-play if you're a racing game fan. Great music, great action... why pass this up? Honestly... WHY?

--- Negatives of This Game ---
"Burnin' Rubber" and "The Objective." They are my two least favorite songs in the game. Those are really only negatives. That, and you have to remember to press the Circle button to confirm an item, rather than pressing the "X" button.

So what are you waiting for? Go get this game NOW! Also, this game has a wonderful soundtrack as well, as you may have noted in my description.

New Year Music

Recommendation for Facebook friends: click on this note and comment on my full blog entry!

So the new year is coming. Some songs have that kind of vibe to them that would make them pretty cool to listen to in ringing in the new year with energy. Allow me to name a few songs that have that energetic vibe to them. They will be accompanied by links to YouTube videos.

"Waiting for Tonight," by Jennifer Lopez.
Jennifer Lopez - Waiting for Tonight

I remember this video back in 1999. This song and this video have that new year vibe to them from its high-energy beats and singing. You'll agree that this song is a nice one to ring in the new year once you hear it.

"Sexual (la da di)," by Amber.
Amber - "Sexual (Li Da Di)"

This is a light tune with a sweet amount of energy. This was also out in 1999, I believe. Great track. It's like a light song to ring in the new year with.

"Born Slippy" (Nuxx Remix)," by Underworld
Underworld - "Born Slippy" (Nuxx Remix)

The actual song is about 11 minutes long. You're hearing the shortened version. This is just old school Underworld.

"Into the Light," by MISIA.
MISIA - Into the Light (Live Version)

I just mentioned MISIA in a past blog entry. I'm including the live version of this song to stay consistent with high-energy. Even if you don't know Japanese (like I don't), you can still feel the power and the energy of this performance.

"Roots," by Airbase (Andy Blueman Remix)
Airbase - Roots (Andy Blueman Remix)

Okay. Maybe your version of "rocking out" is by enjoying trance. Well, do I have a deal for you! This is one of the most uplifting songs I've ever heard, especially the second half of the song. Here's a timeline for you. The song calms down around 3:30. It starts drawing energy at the 3:58 mark. When you listen around 4:54 of this song, imagine that the new year is about to come. Then by the 5:49 mark, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! As one YouTube comment put it:

"Airbase and Andy Blueman! A combination of GODLIKE proportions!"

Well said and completely true.

Finally, the only video game song to even be in the same discussion in New Year's style:

"Movin' in Circles - Ridge Racer Type 4 Soundtrack
"Movin' in Circles"

"Real Racing Roots '99 in... Shooting Hoops!" In Ridge Racer Type 4, this is the ONLY song to play in the Shooting Hoops event. The year 1999 transitioned to 2000 in this title. My brother and I joked about if the Y2K hype would make the cars fall apart when 2000 hit. But there's nothing like this song. The silky vocals of Kimara Lovelace only makes this song better. And as a bonus, here's a YouTube video showcasing the awesomeness of this whole deal. Consider it my thanks to you for reading my blog entry! Here you go:

These are only a few songs that bring about high energy. I hope you all have a happy and safe New Year.

Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD 9

(Edited: Nov. 13, 2010)

This is Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD 9:

^ from: tlethai4.spaces.live.com - the box for Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD 9.

My latest videos have been done with Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD. I wanted something to graduate from Windows Movie Maker with, and so I chose this inexpensive program that fits my computer's specifications. You only need 512 MB of RAM or more for HD-type videos. Think about it like this- Vegas Movie Studio HD costs about $40 USD and up. The Vegas almost everybody knows and (maybe) loves is Sony Vegas Pro, costing about $600 USD.

If you've seen my videos on my YouTube Channel, I use Vegas Movie Studio HD to edit my videos. The facilities available for this program all work quite well. It features things such as chroma key, various video effects, media generator, and more. My videos are basic because I'm still learning how to fully utilize this program. You can export rendered videos to the Internet, iPod, PlayStation Portable, and more. One of the coolest things about this program is that if you don't know how to use something, you can click on "Show Me How" to have a quick tutorial of a certain feature. And believe me, that junk helps!

If you want the [Sony] Vegas experience without having to pay $600 USD for Sony Vegas Pro, or if you're just wanting to graduate from Windows Movie Maker, this is a GREAT program to consider. Some of the other Sony Vegas packages are for things like DVD making, and things like that. For example, Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9 allows you to make your videos to be published on DVD. And Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro Pack gives you sound-editing programs to add extra appeal to your videos.

Want to make videos? Don't want to spend too much? Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD 9 is worth a look. Learn more about the Vegas line here:

Wii Sports Resort

Recommendation for Facebook friends: click on this note and comment on my full blog entry!

Wii Sports Resort takes everything you love about the first title and made better with the Wii MotionPlus. Wii MotionPlus is required to play all the games for this title, which can be a hassle if you don't have a Wii MotionPlus. The first Wii Sports featured five different games with not much on the control front. This game gives you a total of 12 games with multiple modes and challenges. Also included are various challenges where you can earn Stamps. These stamps are tokens of accomplishment for competing certain tasks. For example, bowl a Turkey in the Bowling events. Let me delve into this deal for a bit.

--- Wii Sports Resort: Events ---
Please note that I may have not played every last game to explain everything. So most of this will have to be discovered on your own.

Swordplay.
In Swordplay, you are given a few modes to play with. The ones I've played were Duel and Speed Slice. Swordplay allows you to get your Bushido or Kendo on. Duel is where you compete in a Best-of-3 contest where you try to knock off your opponent from the platform through various sword slashes. Speed Slice requires you to think fast and slice in the correct direction before your opponent does. First to ten (and the Match Point) winner will win. If in case of a draw, the one who completed the correct slash first wins the point.

Wakeboarding.
Go from side-to-side on your wakeboard, then attack the waves with cool tricks. You must land on the water properly, or you won't score any points.

Frisbee.
In Frisbee, you have a cute little puppy who'll go and fetch frisbees that you throw. Challenge yourself to land frisbees in target areas for points. Or in balloon challenges, try to make your frisbee pop the given balloons for bonus points.

Archery. (Nunchuk Required)
Archery gives you the challenge of attacking a target from various locations. The easiest levels feature simple challenges with steady targets. Harder levels have moving targets and even some tougher challenges. You get three shots in each round. Upon the completion of one shot, you will be moved back for harder and longer shots. Trust me. This is NOT easy, especially in the hardest stages.

Basketball.
You can take part in a three-point shooting contest (Which I normally do), or you can play a game of three-on-three basketball. The three-point contest sends you behind the three-point arc from five different positions. You know what to expect if you've seen real-life three-point contest. You have sixty seconds to drain as many threes as possible. You're shooting 25 balls, five on each rack. The multi-colored ball is the bonus ball (which is also often called the "money ball"). Each three drained is worth one point while the bonus balls are worth two points. So if you do your math, a maximum of 30 points is on the line. Pick up a ball, quickly shoot it, then reach down to get another ball and shoot again. The most I had in the contest was about 13 or 15 points. The traditional basketball game gives you only one shot in alternating fashion. Try to hit the basket on offense and block the ball on defense.

Table Tennis.
I haven't played the Table Tennis before, so I'll leave this up to you.

Golf.
Enjoy the gentlemanly game of golf. Swing the club right, hit the balls straight, go for the Fairways, make your putts... and you'll be fine.

Bowling.
I LOVE Bowling in this game! The angle you start with gives you the change to curve up your shot. It's also easier to control your swings. Go for the Strike, baby! I got a few Turkeys in my play. If you're tough enough and brave enough, try the 100-pin challenge! With over 100 pins, you get some help as to what the headpin is because it's colored red. There are some crazy ways to bowl strikes, and only twice have I knocked out all 100 pins in one swing. Never bowled doubles or turkeys yet, though. There's a nice challenge called Spin Control. A barrier is in your way, and the only way to send the ball down the way is to navigate the barrier and curve up your swing. I think on my first try, I bowled a strike.

Power Cruising (Jet Skiing). (Nunchuk Required)
Ride the waves on your jet ski and try to clear the checkpoints.

Canoeing.
I have no experience with this, so I'll leave it up to you here.

Cycling. (Nunchuk Required)
The goal of cycling is to navigate a course while placing as high as you can. It can sometimes be like the Tour de France from Hell, especially in the later stages. You need to concentrate on cycling properly and avoid overusing your energy. If you pedal too fast for too long, you'll exhaust yourself and lose valuable position and time. Take on one stage, or do a three-stage or a tour of all six available stages.

Air Sports.
This event is very diverse. Most of the action gives you memories of the Super Nintendo classic, Pilotwings. The Skydiving event has you trying to tag as many people as possible in the air. The more people you try and connect with, the more points you score. And what I don't understand is... there's bonus points if their faces are visible as you're trying to connect people. The Island Flyover takes you on a sea plane as you fly over various "i" points. Get as many of these points as possible by flying over certain points. Funny enough, the plane has some kind of shooter to it. Not sure what you'd shoot at, though... I haven't done the dogfight because that requires two players. Be careful flying because you can actually crash your plane. Fly carefully! You can also perform barrel rolls and stuff while flying.

Overall, this is a very fun game. It's the first Wii Sports game I played, and it's a lovely game. Give yourself that workout you want! Test your skill in the myriad of games and mini-games within each event. It's sure to keep you busy for quite some time.

Rompers/Playsuits

(UPDATED: April 9, 2012)

Rompers/Playsuits are a covered-up alternative to the short dress. A top portion is combined with shorts for a one-piece look. The romper was brought back a few years ago with a chic and sexy makeover. Almost like taking a nerdy girl who wore a blouse, a schoolgirl skirt, tall socks, and Keds sneakers... and turning her into a sexy siren with a one-shoulder ruffle top, skinny jeans, and a fierce pair of metallic high-heel sandals. The end result is a modern take on making short-shorts chic and sophisticated. This blog entry will NOT feature rompers/playsuits for babies or children because the premise of this thread is on rompers/playsuits for Junior and Women sizes.

NOTE: Because I know them as rompers, I'll use "rompers" instead of "playsuits," though I may alternate the terms. And to avoid further confusion, I will NOT refer to rompers/playsuits as jumpers. I will NOT mention jumpsuits here either. Rompers/Playsuits are essentially jumpsuits, but jumpsuits (to me) are more one-piece PANTS and not one-piece shorts.

If you prefer reading about jumpsuits, read my blog post on jumpsuits.

LATEST UPDATE(S)/REVISION(S):

APR 9 2012 - added some extra inspirations

--- Why Care About Rompers/Playsuits? ---

Many have criticized that rompers are only for children. Yet, hardly anyone complained in the 1990s and early 2000s when teenage and adult femmes were wearing overalls. What makes the new rompers so much better than the rompers of old is that the styles are actually sexy. Take note of some of the daring sleeveless and strapless models. Some rompers even pass as stylish and feminine shirts and blouses, when they are really blouses and shorts together as a one-piece outfit. Take a look at this picture, for instance:

Denim Rompers/Playsuits.

Baby Phat rompers
^ from: macys.com - Baby Phat rompers.

These are denim rompers from Baby Phat. They are every bit as comfy and cute as your favorite denim shorts. You can see these are paired with a lovely pair of high-heel sandals. This is only a mere sample of the chic appeal rompers/playsuits provide.

But what if you don't fancy dress-like rompers? Here's a pair of strapless rompers that are cuffed:
strapless rompers
^ from: killahbeez.com, by way of static.stuff.co.nz - Prefer strapless rompers instead? This is a sexy strapless romper from Killahbeez.

These blend chic with comfy. The strapless design is surely romantic, but the cuffed legs add an appeal of casual cool. One of my favorite styles for femmes are cuffed short-shorts, especially trouser-like short-shorts.

These days, I've been seeing more rompers being worn by females ranging from not just kids, but also Women/Misses as well. I've once seen a young woman sporting some black strapless rompers that had a little sequin star detail on them. I guess they have become better accepted by fashionistas than most have initially thought of these one-piece shorts.

--- Footwear to Accompany Rompers ---

No outfit ever pops if you don't wear the kind kind of shoes. The most basic footwear would be your average pair of flip-flop/thong sandals. Care to take it up a notch? Try gladiator sandals, peep-toe espadrilles, or even a pair of booties. You need a pair of shoes that are fun and stylish for the rompers. So I'd probably avoid sneakers (especially for very chic rompers), especially Chuck Taylor-style sneakers. You can probably do a pair of knee-high boots if you can get a good look going. But, I'd stay away from tall boots.

--- A Dream Look ---

I've wanted to join deviantArt and show a little of my artwork to supplement my material. But what I'll do instead is describe a dream look for rompers. Here would be my own Polyvore-like model:

• a short pair of strapless rompers (preferred color- lemon yellow)
• brown cutout oxford sandals, brown of magenta lace-up sandals, or (preferred colors- brown or magenta)
• (your choice of accessories)

That would be a look I'd go for if I were a girl.

rFactor

When Sports Car GT was released back in 1998 or so, it was praised for its great racing, but also for its mod-friendly nature. One was able to create mods for the Sports Car GT engine. These mods came in the form of tracks and cars. But amid the fun of making mods for this game, the experience was completely limited. You can only choose day/dry, night/dry, day/wet, and night/wet. They are all determined on if the tracks will allow certain mods. Downloaded cars and car packages didn't have their own in-car views. Certain engines sounds were made available.

In a blog post dated back in December 2009, this post has been updated (rather than be replaced with a new post) substanially on April 12, 2011. Welcome to rFactor.

--- rFactor at a Glance ---
rFactor box
^ from: amazon.com - rFactor: Customize. Control. Connect.

Back around 2005, Image Space Incorporated, the makers of Sports Car GT (as well as other great racing game titles), made a game that is no doubt a TRUE and complete successor to Sports Car GT. Introducing... rFactor!

Considered by many to be the finest simulation-type racing game on the market today, rFactor is really a testament to both racing and the modding community. This is a racing game created with modding in mind. Later versions of rFactor only build upon what the original started off with. You get a fairly expansive number of cars and tracks for which to race in rFactor with. What other racing game offers all of the following right out of the box:

* sportscar racing
* open-wheel racing
* stock car racing
* a short oval
* a speedway-type oval
* a superspeedway-type oval
* a street course
* an off-road rally course

This game gives you a whole lot out of the box. You pay good money for an experience like this, and Image Space delivers again as they've done for at least a decade. rFactor was made with the sim racer in mind. It can be as forgiving or as unforgiving as the racer would like. You can race with your keyboard or any other gaming device compatible with rFactor. The hardcore set will lovingly play rFactor with a proper steering wheel assembly. rFactor is even used in a number of different driving and other simulations. It makes rFactor one of the most significant racing games of the past decade.

As much as the game offers so much out of the box, the REAL key to rFactor's success is with the mod community. People will lovingly create mods to make an already great game even more so with their own modifications. People will create their own championships and series using mods. Many cars introduce racing game fans to a variety of different cars and racing series. Many track mods help expand the already deep track lineup and offer new opportunities to enjoy racing full speed. Different utilities and add-ons only make this game even more accessible and feature-rich. If people are making all kinds of mods for a game like this and if many people are praising it, then rFactor HAS to be totally worth it, right?

--- Why rFactor? ---
rFactor is a racing game that allows you to enjoy great simulation-type racing across various styles of racing. Everything from sportscar racing, open-wheel racing, stock car racing, rally racing, and more can be found in this game. You get a complete racing experience that's completely customizable. The addictive nature of making and installing mods makes this game like crack for the sim racer.

(DISCLAIMER: John Marine does not endorse or condone illegal drugs or using terminology like "crack for the sim racer" as a means of expressing something. In other words- it's just an expression. Pull yourself together!)

So what's changed between SCGT and rFactor? LOTS of things!

Got Time?

You are able to do proper endurance races. Would I kid you if I told you that could do a 24-hour day-to-night-to-day race in only 24 minutes? You can do a full 24-hours of gaming, but the only problem is that you have to give up about 24 hours of your life to play a game for hours and hours, even while your lover tweets you and texts you wanting you to go out on a date. You may have to tell your imaginary blow-up doll the hard truth- "I'm playing a racing game for hours on end, I need my time, baby. I'ma treat you so good when I'm done racing, alright, baby?" Once your lover (whether real or fake) understands that you're pursuing the racing experience of your life, you can note that the skies go from a sunny day to a starry night beautifully. You note lights turned on around the track and also note cars turning on their lights to prepare for nighttime battle. You can set races to be decided on time, with dynamic time changes, or just set a normal race that has time fly by. You could even set a race to be decided on laps or time

Crazy Customization!

rFactor is in no way an overnight success. This game has earned all of its awards for a reason- addictiveness of modding. You can customize elements such as various game dynamics, customizing certain cars with performance parts, class racing, type of race start (standing start, rolling start, etc.), kind of race weekend, length of the race (laps, time, laps and time), flag settings, what classes will race... I'd need a seperate blog to discuss all the different nuances of this game. Basically, you CAN create your dream race weekend.

How Do You Like Your Racing?

This game is a pure sim racer. There's nothing arcade in nature about this game. All cars handle realistically. The only restriction on how you want things like damage and tire wear depends on you and your skill level. Do you increase the aggression to make for a frenzied race? Do you turn damage all the way up to 100% to where your car is guaranteed to screw your car up for the rest of the race? It's all up to you. SCGT didn't come with various driving aids. This game allows you to tone down the experience to better suit your driving skill and your racing ability.

--- Starting Out with rFactor ---
Life with rFactor is grand, isn't it? You have one of the finest and most customizable racing games on the market. But like many things in life, you have to start small.

The Cars.

(NOTE: I bought rFactor as version 1.150)
Even Image Space Incorporated does their part to bring new tracks and cars to their own game, making it all the better. This is one of those games in which it's made better with modding. Because I'm so much of a sportscar racing fan, I'd recommend you try out the ZR Cup as it's the first championship you take part in. You race in events to make money and gain experience. Now the experience relates to being able to purchase future cars. Not all cars are available right away to purchase. On completing the ZR races, you move on to series like the Hammer cars and go all the way up to the H6 Howston cars, the best race car of the SR Class.

Prefer open-wheel? There's the OWC, Open Wheel Challenge. You start out with cars that resemble the Skip Barber Racing Series, go on to rF3 (rFactor's Formula 3 series), and to Formula IS. You even have the BMW Sauber Formula 1 race car. It's easily the fastest car in the game among cars you could race right away. If you want to start making money right away in OWC, you'll need to race with the BMW Sauber F1 cars in competition. Perhaps because of my history with this mode, I've often struggled with F1 cars. But... it's the only way to get ahead. Do you want to get those 2 million Credit Formula IS cars or what? However, you can get the rFactor-livery Formula IS cars for free without needing lots of experience points. It's a tough road ahead.

Stock car racing fans can enjoy the NSCR (National Stock Car Racing) championship where you're locked in the intense stock car racing battles that define the character of racing in the United States. You can purchase equipment sets that prepare your car for various ovals and road racing setups.

The 1.150 package I bought features the Lienz events, a series of races based in the fictional Austrian course, Lienz. Tracks range from a simple romp through the village all the way to a super-long course ranging from the village and into the mountains (that even has a 24-hour course, if you can believe it!). This series features lots of rally-type cars. The cars are peppy and fun to race.

There are many more cars for you to explore and enjoy racing with, so I'll leave it up to you to explore all the richness rFactor has to provide! I recommend you go to rFactor Central for more cars for rFactor, including mods created by ISI. Other kinds of cars and other categories of racing can be found from mods from rFactor Central.

The Tracks.

The appeal rFactor brings can be found in its cars and tracks. Out the box, you feel like you're playing multiple games at once. Tell me what other game gives you this combination of tracks:

* multiple road courses
* three ovals of varying length
* a street course
* some real-life circuits (Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve, for example)
* a dedicated rally course

There are many more you can download to enhance your racing experience. But the tracks are all there available to race however you want, whenever you want. Hell, you can set a race to be run at midnight if you want to. Your possibilities are endless. I recommend you go to rFactor Central for more tracks for rFactor, including tracks created by ISI.

This is a quick look at each of the default courses released by ISI:

* Barcelona - race on Circuit de Catalunya, home of the F1 Spanish Grand Prix.

* Brianza - the Italian Grand Prix course around Monza is available for you to race in one of six different configurations.

* Essington - a fictional British circuit with a mix of high speed and technical corners.

* Jiading - put your racing skills to the test when you challenge the Shanghai International Circuit in three different configurations, including the Chinese Grand Prix course.

* Jacksonville - a fictional superspeedway oval similar in character to Daytona International Speedway. Enjoy high-speed battle on the high banks and straights of this tri-oval.

* Joesville - get ready for short oval track racing around this fictional short oval in Montana!

* Lienz - this is a fictional course that features multiple race courses in and around the Austrian village of Lienz. There is also an off-road configuration to enjoy your off-road racing in rFactor. So there is something for everyone with this mod.

* Mills Metropark - a great amateur-type road course with two different layouts; one of which can be run in the reverse direction.

* Montreal - the F1 Grand Prix of Canada course at Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve offers high speed battle with some tricky corners.

* Northamptonshire - this is the Silverstone Circuit, with three different variations including the Grand Prix course. Considering this game was released in 2005, the configuration does NOT include the new Arena configuration.

* Nuerburg - the Nürburgring Grand Prix course is a tough one to master. This game features the Grand Prix course and its short configuration, but not the 12+ mile Nürburgring Nordschleife.

* Orchard Lake - consisting of a speedway oval and an infield road course, Orchard Lake is a great place to enjoy high-speed racing. I personally use Orchard Lake's oval as a test track.

* Sardian Heights - a fictional street course with two different configurations. Get ready for an intense street fight around the tricky confines of this street course!

* Toban - this is an amateur-style race course with challenging depths. It has a number of configurations available to test you on a number of levels.

There are many more tracks you can download to enhance and expand your racing experience. So if you want more, just download away! I'll point you towards places where you can download more content for rFactor later in this blog post.

--- As a Whole... ---
rFactor is one of the most addictive racing games of all time. It is a fantastic racing title with little or no gripes or compromises. There isn't any dynamic weather, if you want some kind of nit-pick on this game. I think if you love racing games PERIOD, you go check this game out and enjoy it. You will not be disappointed, I promise you.

MISIA (JPOP Singer)

(UPDATED: February 21, 2012)

[~~~ no image available... ~~~]
^ from: ??? - Misaki Ito, better known by her stage name of MISIA.

What began with "Wasurenai Hibi" for me continued with many more songs from the lovely MISIA. MISIA (Misaki Ito) was born in Fukuoka, Japan. I consider MISIA as my all-time favorite JPOP singer. Why so? She sings beautifully and boldly. When you hear her sing, it's the perfect marriage of beautiful and bold. My all-time favorite song of hers is "Everything." "Everything" is about seven minutes long, and all seven minutes is awesome. In fact, here is a music video of this song that I found on YouTube:

Everything (my all-time favorite song of hers)

In case you enjoyed this one, here are many more YouTube videos featuring the lovely vocals of MISIA:

Chiisana Koi
Snow Song
Koisuru Kisetsu
Rhythm Reflection
It's Just Love
Over Bit
Hi No Ataru Basho
Into the Light, also Into the Light (Live) I think this song makes a great song for ringing in the new year.

Other favorites of mine include "Hatenaku Tsuzuku Story," "Shining Star" and "Wasurenai Hibi," the first song of hers I've ever heard. She delivers in bold and beautiful R&B, but also diversifies her style in many ways. I have SO much respect for MISIA and her awesome singing ability. The accompanying music and her vocal talent are perfect. To me, she's the goddess of Japanese pop and/or Japanese R&B.

Crystal Kay

Recommendation for Facebook friends: click on this note and comment on my full blog entry!

Crystal Kay
^ from: prince.org

You might have seen my blog entry on Utada Hikaru. The only other artist I'm I think is as good as Utada Hikaru in the department of JPOP one is in is Crystal Kay Williams. According to Wikipedia, Crystal Kay was born in Yokohama, Japan to an African-American father and a South Korean mother. Her much is as hard-hitting as Utada Hikaru, only Crystal Kay's music has a lot more American style to it. Here are some of my favorite songs of hers (via YouTube):

* Hard to Say (the first song of hers I've heard)
* Automatic
* Girl U Love
* Candy
* Attitude (I forgot this song when I first posted this blog entry!)

I personally think that if you like American-style R&B, you'll enjoy the music style Crystal Kay brings to JPOP. There's honestly no way you can pass up this diva if you just want to enjoy some great music.

Utada Hikaru

UPDATE 3/5/2010: Updated with new widget and edited with more content.

Utada Hikaru is one of my personal favorites in all of Japanese pop. This American-born (born in New York City, NY, USA) JPOP star is someone who makes music I usually like. The style of music provided by "Hikki" is mostly American-style R&B-type music.

Here is "Hikki" below:

^ from: photobucket.com

My love of her music began with "Can You Keep a Secret?" It continued with songs like "Wait and See," "Fly Me To the Moon," and more. I have included various YouTube videos. Here are some of my favorite songs of hers (tried to find as many YouTube videos as I could). Please be sure to load these in another window or tab:

* Can You Keep a Secret?
* Fly Me to the Moon
* Automatic
* Movin' On Without You
* First Love, but I love the First Love Dance Remix more
* "Wait and See"
* Another Chance

If you had a chance to listen to some of these classics, you'll hear how her music kind of has that kind of American vibe to it. Kind of like a nice fusion of Japanese style with hard-hitting American beats and vocals. It's that edgy, urban style that has attracted me to her music. She's an awesome singer. Want more Utada Hikaru? Check out items in this widget and find some cool stuff!

Leggings Under Skirts

NOTE: This blog entry is in the process of being edited. Enjoy what you read now, because it may all look different in the future.

It was a look I detested when I first saw this surface (or resurface?) in 2005. In yet another attempt to remind us how terrible '80s fashion is, one such trend was to wear a mini skirt with leggings. So in light of this look, you would see your average denim mini skirt paired with leggings (opaque black leggings are most common) that extend somewhere between below the knees and above the ankles. Footwear has ranged from flip-flop/thong sandals to your average pair of Chuck Taylor sneakers in a garden variety of colors, patterns, and shoe laces. I've hated this look until I've somehow grown to like it. I wouldn't recommend mini skirt + leggings, but I can understand this look.

THAT LOOK is defined below:

^ from: monkey.org - Opaque leggings worn under denim mini skirts. This, all in another pointless re-revival of the '80s. The '80s are freaking DEAD! Get a God-forsaken life!

--- Understanding the Look ---
Many have had problems with wearing leggings as pants. There's a functional reason for sporting a short skirt with leggings- comfort. Some femmes aren't too comfortable rocking a mini skirt or a short skirt. So to add some extra appeal, a mini skirt (preferably denim) is paired with a pair of leggings or footless tights. The most common look I see is medium to light wash denim mini skirts, black or brown leggings that extend to mid-calf, and any color Chuck Taylor-style sneakers.

--- Why I Hated the Look ---
I always felt that if you didn't have the confidence to wear a mini skirt or a short skirt, then it's simple- DON'T WEAR IT!!! Don't tailor a look around a mini skirt and leggings. I always thought wearing leggings were reserved to a tunic + leggings, which is perfectly fine. I hope I don't get any negative reaction from my female readers, but the mini skirt is a garment meant to unleash the beautiful legs of its wearer. Mini skirts are very daring garments for those with lovely legs and those not afraid to show off her legs. Why ruin the beauty of a mini skirt by pairing it with leggings? I know I've defended faux skirts like skorts and scooter skirts and gaucho pants/culottes, but these are skirts that can be worn confidently without the need of leggings. Or put it this way. It's like saying you'll only drive a pure sports car... as long as it has an automatic transmission. Many have defended the look, while I've only vented my dislike of this look. Until...

--- Why I've Eventually Liked the Look Now ---
It takes a man to dislike something. It takes a bigger man to admit dislike and show a different side. The right pair of leggings and a good pair of shoes can make for a cute look. I still think no one should wear mini skirts when it's cold. That's even if you're wearing leggings or longjohns underneath to keep your legs warm. Mini skirts are for warm weather and relatively cool weather ONLY. I have seen where leggings + skirts are actually cute. And I'm not talking about just for little girls.

So if you like leggings + skirts, I'm not hating now. I've eased up on them. I made a blog entry about leggings and tights. Visit either of these two links:

Wii Sports

(UPDATED: February 21, 2012)

Wii Sports, to many people, has been the alternative to going to the gym for a workout. Wii Sports is a collection of sporting events designed to test your abilities as well as giving your Wiimote quite the workout. This blog entry concerns only the very first Wii Sports title. I'm going to share my experiences with Wii Sports.

Wii Sports
^ from: wiislim.wordpress.com - Wii Sports is available for all Wii consoles, but is offered separately as a backup or a replacement. An Amazon link at the end of this blog entry will direct you to the original Wii Sports on Amazon.

Wii Sports: Tennis.

Wii Sports Tennis
^ from: kevdo.com - You'll need plenty of skill and patience to make it in Tennis. Serve up some trouble for the guy or girl on the other side of the net. Doubles play is also available.

In Tennis, you play a regular game of tennis. You take part in Doubles action. You don't play multiple sets. It's basically just a single set you play. I'm not good at tennis at all. Don't watch tennis, don't really like tennis, but I have played this Wii Sports rendition and thought it was cool.

Wii Sports: Baseball.

Wii Sports Baseball
^ from: www.hmtk.com - Get ready for three innings of hardball. This game is NOT a baseball simulation. Just keep getting base hits and even Home Runs. A Home Run challenge is also available for this game.

In Baseball, you're only responsible for two things- batting and pitching. There are three innings. Your job at the plate is to swing the ball and get some base hits going. On the mound, you're trying to pitch strikes. This is not a proper game of baseball. It isn't like you go for curve balls, try to steal bases, changing up pitchers, or anything like that. The first game I played in Wii Sports Baseball, I won 2-0, doing my damage in the third inning.

Wii Sports: Golf.

Wii Sports Golf
^ from: www.frequencycast.co.uk - Swing for the fences and hit those fairways. Do these things, and you'll do just fine in Wii Sports Golf.

Golf isn't one of my fortes, as I don't watch golf. Trying to get a good feel of swinging for the fences can be fun in this game. Again, this is no sim. You have a putter, a wedge, an iron, and of the course... the driver. You can get a few test swings to practice your shot before taking a real one. I couldn't sink a sing put when I played this past Sunday.

Wii Sports: Bowling.
Wii Sports Bowling
^ from: graysmatter.codivation.com - Prepare for ten frames of bowling goodness. Try to find your comfort zone and bowl like a champion!

Bowling is one of my favorite recreational sports, and it's also my favorite sport in Wii Sports. Bowling is very fun in this game. The way you're set up, you can easily attack the head pin with a roll up the middle. I average a score of about 170 in Wii Sports (as well as Wii Sports Resort).

Wii Sports: Boxing. (Nunchuk Required)
Wii Sports Boxing
^ from: www.ducksters.com - While you may not get Mills Lane saying "Let's get it on!", you'll still get three intense rounds mastering the Sweet Science of Boxing.

The only game that requires the Nunchuk is this game. You need it to punch with your other hand. This game is sure to make you sweat after trying to knock out the other boxer. It all works very well and is just as intense as a real boxing match. Think of it as a friendly version of Punch-Out!! I was never knocked out, but I almost got taken down by one boxer.

The other two modes relate to Training and in helping you determine your fitness age. Use these two modes to challenge yourself with skill competitions. I love Wii Sports Resort, but I also like the very first Wii Sports title. Play this game even if you haven't played it yet.

(update: 12/29/2009) Find out what I think about Wii Sports Resort here: "Wii Sports Resort - John's Blog Space

Chandelier Earrings

Nothing adds such bold and divine beauty as a lovely pair of earrings. The most dramatic way to shape one's look is to wear a pair of chandelier earrings. Here are a few examples that I've found online:

Chandelier Earrings 1
^ from: www.precieuxnydesigns.com

Chandelier Earrings 2
^ from: www.amazingaccessories.net

Chandelier Earrings 3
^ from: www.life123.com

Personally, I become a bit uneasy seeing such large earrings worn by females. However, the appeal they provide is absolutely priceless and only enhances the beauty of the lady wearing them. You don't have to wear something formal or fancy. You could simply have a pair chandelier earrings while wearing a black T-shirt, indigo jeans, and some red high-heel pumps. The designs can range from little teardrops, various jewels, little hoops, or any other kind of accents. The one thing I'd care careful of is that you don't find a pair of big earrings that dominate and cover up the sides of your face.

Chandelier earrings are a dramatic fashion statement and really adds some elegance and boldness to your overall appearance. I know about two friends of mine who have worn or wear chandelier earrings. These chandelier earrings adds some beautiful appeal to their overall look. Chandelier earrings, to me, are best left for chic and stylish looks. So these earrings aren't going to look great with some trashy rocker chic look (for example).

To any ladies who wear chandelier earrings, wear these earrings proudly and show your style!

UPDATE 2/21/2010: New search widget added, in case you want to shop for chandelier earrings:

Car Style - The Morgan Aero 8

Recommendation for Facebook friends: click on this note and comment on my full blog entry!

The car (series): Morgan Aero 8

The Morgan Motor Company introduced the Morgan Aero 8 back in 2001. The Malvern, England-based company produced this car that brings a modern car with vintage styling. Many love it, many more don't.

--- Car Style: The Morgan Aero 8 ---

(NOTE: I look at many models. And in so, the real Morgan I'm trying to discuss is going to be varied. I apologize for this.)

Exterior.

The Morgan Aero 8 isn't consistent with the latest trends in car styling. However, I don't think they really care. You have no appreciation for cars if you think this car is too ugly and don't think it deserves any face time in this postmodern world. The car has beautiful style up front. This car looks like the center of the car was punched in, making the car look like the front sides bulge out while most of the rest of front seems caved in. Its lights are Porsche-like, while its front grill is very vintage in design. The front grill may look like a tombstone. but the grill on the bottom of the car kind of looks like it's a shark ready to bite any opposition it smells.

The sides of the car are very vintage. I'm almost reminded of a Bugatti (which fails my memory) that has similar style. There is abundant overfender in its design. The front quarter panels feature a set of five gills next to the front tires. The fenders bulge out while still looking very classic. The doors and their hinges are very vintage as well. The front windshield is also (yes, you guessed it), vintage. It's not exactly a swoopy windshield. The rear of the car is very long from the sides.

A whale tail spoiler can be found on the trunk/boot of this car. A simple set of tail lights and signal lights accentuate the rear. Below the lights are two mufflers (one on each side).

Interior.
The only aspects of this car that are modern is the little stereo system, the shifter, steering wheel, and the seats. So while the outside is very vintage, the inside is MOSTLY vintage. The vintage character remains intact with the dashboard. There is no real center console for this car.

The Morgan Aero 8 series is a beautiful car that blends modern style with vintage flair. It is a beautiful car. At least I think it's beautiful. Many more think it's an ugly mess. Even these cars have found some action in GT racing. Love these or loathe these, they are lovely automobiles. You really need to have a fondness of vintage-styled cars to appreciate this car's loveliness.

Car Style - The Spyker C8 Laviolette SWB

Recommendation for Facebook friends: click on this note and comment on my full blog entry!

The car (series): Spyker C8

Spyker has made a very exciting car in looks and in performance called the C8. Since the C8's debut in 2000, many more Spyker C8 models followed. I realize there are a lot of Spyker C8 models. So what I've done was focus solely on the C8 Laviolette, as you'd find in Gran Turismo 4.

--- Car Style: The Spyker C8 Laviolette SWB ---

Exterior.
All the Spyker C8 models are sharp and with distinctive style. But when you look at the Spyker C8, it's a car guaranteed to intimidate others. The grill is big and wide, kind of like recent Aston Martins. There's a thin grill under the big front grill. Above the grill is the bold Spyker emblem. The headlights are very clean in style. Big fog lights below the headlights are there as well as a little spoiler at the bottom. The front of this mid-engined car has a deep front scoop.

The sides of the car has the most character than all of the rest of the car. A nice set of side-view mirrors are bathed in shiny metal. Part of the front bumper features three little gills on the side near the fog lights. The fenders don't have much aggression to them. However, the most aggressive elements of the car are all the openings. There are two sets of openings towards the rear quarter panel and on the roof. The car looks like it has two side cannons accented in metallic accents. Almost as if this car was mounted with laser guns or machine gun mounts, ready to shoot any car that comes its way. The roof features an extra roof scoop as bold as the other scoops on the side. Or if you want to stick with guns, the roof scoop is like its own rocket launcher. This car is sharper than a razor from your favorite razor maker. There is somewhat of a T-top design with two glass roof portions for both passengers to see the sunny skies or starry nights.

The rear features a pair of tail lights and signal lights in equal circumference. Each side has one circular tail light and one circular turn signal light. Metallic accents outline the mufflers. Three more gills accentuate the back half of the rear quarter panels. Metallic accents also occupy most of the rear of the rear valance of this car.

Interior.
The car is aggressive, mean, mad at the world up on the outside. But what about on the inside? Considering Spyker's history as an aircraft maker (before the former Spyker went bankrupt in 1922), the inside of the C8 Laviolette SWB is very old-time. The Spyker C8 Laviolette that I remember from Gran Turismo 4 had an unusual four-spoke steering wheel, all spokes in perfect right angles. This car's steering wheel is rather plain, but not boring. The C8 Laviolette SWB has an old-style set of gauges. There are plenty of them for this car. You almost feel like you're flying a plane rather than driving a car that costs just below $225,000 USD. The center console is all metallic with a few touches of plastic. Even the steering wheel is bathed in metallic. Again- flying a plane or driving a car? The one thing I'd fear is that on hot days (like here in Houston in the Summer), that the steering wheel would be extremely hot even on hot days here in Houston. There's lots of quilted leather to accentuate other parts of the car that aren't in the form of gauges. Even the comfortable pair of seats gets a little quilting. A few roll hoops can be found inside the car as well.

So what you have style-wise is a car that doesn't have an identity crisis, but rather a car that's like a shark with four wheels and a mid-mounted engine, but has the interior of an old-style plane and with LOTS of metallic accents. Pardon my choice of words... but this is the damndest weird car style-wise I've ever seen. How do you merge extremely sharp styling on the outside with an old-style interior? Still, I've always loved the Spyker C8 series. I think the car looks best in black. The metallic accents on the outside makes this car's aggression come to life. Approach with caution. She's a killer whale that'll bite you in half with sharp styling.

Car Style - The Mazda RX-8 (2002-2008 Model)

There was nothing like the Mazda RX-8 when it first came out. Many speculated the RX-8 was a true successor to the RX-7. However, the RX-8 isn't an evolution of anything. It was touted as a four-door sports car. Its heart is the good old Renesis engine. The vehicle I'll be discussing is the previous model Mazda RX-8. Now if you want the latest RX-8, check out Mazda's latest offering of this car. My brother wanted an RX-8, and this car was featured on the Speed Channel series "101 Cars You Must Drive," featuring comedian Alonso Bodden.

--- Car Style: The Mazda RX-8 (FE3S Model) ---
The character of the entire car is in sharpness. You can either think of it as a pure sports car or a four-door coupe. But no matter what you think of its looks, it is a head-turning car.

Exterior.
The headlights are styled sharply and with lots of mean attitude. The front features a huge opening on the front bumper, and the sides of the front bumper feature two openings. Two small fog lights are situated near the big front opening on either side. Above the front opening is the Mazda badge to be shown to the whole world. The front hood/bonnet has a bold design. It kind of looks like it has its own ram air induction from the hood/bonnet, but it's just to remind you this car's engine was meant for business (even though many complain that it doesn't have enough torque).

From the sides, the car's sharp character is met with many bold accents. The quarter panels have some aggression as it packs a muscular punch. The big side ducts from the front quarter panels are plenty aggressive as this car has some meanness to its looks. The boldness continues with the rear quarter panel as its fenders are bold, yet smooth. A more than sufficient side skirt compliments and completes the aggressive side looks. Many people think the RX-8 could have been done away with the extra two doors. But still, the car is met with clean styling as you open the doors.

My brother used to tell me that the RX-8 is one of few cars that intimidates you from the rear. Looking at the tail light assembly, he's right. This car features perhaps two of the meanest-looking tail lights on any car. The rear bumper features a little rear valance outlined in black. Two tailpipes accentuate both sides of the rear valance.

Interior.
This car is pretty sharp on the inside, but not as sharp as its exterior. You get a very sporty steering wheel that is both useful and sporty. The gauges are big and accentuated with metallic accents. The center console is very unique in design. In case you need to be reminded of what kind of engine you're playing with, the shifter knob has that rotary engine look to it. Comfortable, racing-like seats are what the driver and front passenger can enjoy. I actually sat in the Mazda RX-8 before at a Mazda dealer and at the Houston Auto Show several times. It really grabs you can takes you for a ride.

The newer RX-8 is a bit dopey for me. If it were up to me, I'd get the Mazdaspeed RX-8 complete with more aggressive body work and more metallic accents and a sporty rear wing. The Mazdaspeed RX-8 is lovely either in black or silver. The RX-8 is still one of the most unique sports cars ever made.

Suzuka Circuit

NOTE: This blog entry will be deleted in the future and re-done. Originally made: 12/23/2009 at 11:40 PM Central Time

The Track:

I have to find more things to blog about. Remember that I have no field of specialization for my blog. I don't have a niche. That's even though (and this is a fact) I had initially intended this blog to be about the Gran Turismo series. So what I'm going to do is talk about motor racing tracks (to diffrentiate from horse racing tracks, which "race track" is usually closely associated with). I share how I feel about certain race tracks.

--- Suzuka Circuit ---

(most information courtesy of Wikipedia)
Suzuka Circuit is one of the oldest race tracks in Japan. It was designed as a test course by Honda in 1962. Suzuka can be found in the Mie Prefecture of Japan. It's a figure-8 racing facility that is one of the most unique racing challenges in the world (let alone Japan). The challenge this course provides is exceptional. This track has seen lots of action from many racing series including (but not limited to) Formula 1, Super GT (formerly the JGTC), Formula Nippon, Super Taikyu, MotoGP, and even NASCAR (on the Suzuka East course). What makes this course so challenging and rewarding to race on is the fact this course has so many rhythmetic sections. It also provides a great deal of eye candy as you note the amusement parks adjacent to Suzuka.

One Lap...
The track is literally a roller coaster ride as you dive into the first two corners of the Grand Prix course. You then wind your way into the esses (Turns 3 through 6) before going into Dunlop (Turn 7). Next, your reflexes need to be sharp to properly navigate Degner (Turn 8) and into Turn 9. You go under the overpass and into the hairpin (Turn 11). If racing the motorcycle course, Turn 12 features an extra kink designed to slow the motorcycles down. Everybody else blasts down the way into Spoon Curve (Turn 13), a decreasing radius left counterclockwise/anti-clockwise corner. Lead foot it down the backstretch, but you need to be ready to navigate the tricky 130R (Turn 12). You can be able to take it at full speed in fast cars. Turns 15 through 17 is is my least favorite complex- the Casio Triangle. Whether in a car or a motorcycle, SLOW is the way to go. Turns 15 and 16 are absolutely punishing. And if you don't get a good run out of Turn 16, you won't be able to power through the final turn (Turn 17) to complete one lap.

Overall, Suzuka is one of the most rewarding courses to race in the world. I love this track and all the racing that takes place here.

Car Style - The Alfa Romeo 156 GTA

(Some information taken from Wikipedia) Many people usually think Ferrari and Lamborghini as far as world-class Italian makes are concerns. However, many don't regard Alfa Romeo as a world-class manufacturer. Alfa Romeo makes some really nice-looking cars. One of my all-time favorites is the 1966 Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider. In production between 1997 and 2007, the Alfa Romeo 156 was a sexy car. Starting in 2001, the 156 got a GTA (no, not Grand Theft Auto... but Gran Turismo Alleggerita) version. Let me try to describe and comment on its style.

--- Car Style: The Alfa Romeo 156 GTA ---

Exterior.
The traditional small, tall grill flanks the front of the 156 GTA along with the Alfa Romeo badge at the top of the grill. There are also a few extra parts that join the grill from the sides. And unlike the 2006-2007 Subaru Impreza, the 156 GTA's entire grill assembly flows beautifully. A pair of cleanly-styled headlights compliment the 156 GTA. Near the edges of the bottom of the front grill are four little openings, two on each side. The front bumper features an aggressive front bumper with a two-piece opening and an aggressive front spoiler. Two small fog lights flank each side of the front bumper. The front hood/bonnet has a nice flowing hood/bonnet that seems to meet the edges of the front center grill all the way to the windshield. It is both bold and beautiful at the same time.

The sides of the car are designed with a very nice cabin. A moderately bold overfender decks the 156 GTA around the wheels as well as aggressive (but not overaggressive) side skirts. The car rides on a sweet pair of 16-something spoke wheels. This car can seat four, but the rear doors open from the second row windows.

The rear of the car features some thin, sharp tail lights. A small Alfa Romeo badge occupies the trunk/boot. A minimal rear bumper accentuates the rear. Nothing really intimidating except for the aggressive openings on the rear bumper. A single muffler with two exhaust ports flank the rear muffler.

Interior.
A stylish steering wheel is met with a lovely instrument panel. A beautiful set of gauges compliment the dashboard. The center console features a lovely console which is almost all metallic (except for gauges and electronics). Metallic pedals compliment are there for you to lead foot this sexy Italian beast. The dashboard is basically a combination of non-metallic and metallic accents. Very stylish along with comfortable seats.
A nice shifter compliments

This car is plenty sexy and stylish. Surely not a bad car to get used if you're able to get an Alfa Romeo 156 GTA.

Car Style - The Suzuki Cappuccino

Recommendation for Facebook friends: click on this note and comment on my full blog entry!

One of my all-time favorite kei cars is the Suzuki Cappuccino. This car is a peppy little front/RWD kei coupe. Think of it as Suzuki's Miata/MX-5.

--- Car Style: The Suzuki Cappuccino ---

Exterior.
The Cappuccino has some Miata-like headlights along with a miniscule grill. There is a huge (for this car's size) opening up front on the front bumper. It's where you would show off a huge intercooler if you're a tuner. This little car has a non-aggressive front hood/bonnet. Then again, who said the Cappuccino was a beast?

The sides have some character to them with he two side openings on the front quarter panels. The car features a targa top, which can be taken off for you to enjoy open-air driving. It's a stylish and sporty car top off or top on.

The rear of the car features some cute tail lights as well as a nice view of the rear muffler. It would be crazy if this thing had a twin-muffler setup. The rear windshield area is more like this car's rollover bar. A tall antenna can be found on the right rear quarter panel of the car.

Interior. (Note: I'll be going on the 1991 Cappuccino I've read up online)
On the inside, this car is inviting... in a small car way. For a car produced betwee 1991 and 1997, don't expect anything really modern or amazing unless someone modernized it with stuff like a navigation system or something. For a small car, the car is pretty sporty inside. It features a very basic cockpit along with a pretty nice steering wheel. A fairly basic center console compliments the inside. The seats appear pretty comfortable to enjoy driving a kei sports car in.

This is one of my all-time favorite small cars. A car this size wouldn't stand a chance in the United States, but it is a very fun car.

The Frizzy Curly Afro

(UPDATED: August 30, 2011)

Here is a fact about me in regards to feminine hair- if I had a preference, I think curly hair is very cute. A number of my girl friends have curly hair. A hairstyle I admit liking recently is the curly afro bob. Either this, or simply a frizzy afro. There are actually some ladies that can look great with messy hair. While frizzy bobs can look disasterous, I would admit that a frizzy curly bob can actually be very cute. I don't think I've ever known any girl [in person] that had a huge, frizzy, curly bob.

Why don't we set the mood by showing a picture? Check this out. It is hairstyles like this one that will set the tone for this blog post:

--- Frizzy Curly Afros ---
A frizzy curly afro can be a cute hairstyle to me. Frizzy and curly bob hairstyles tend to look like hair hiding the cheeks of a lady's face as well as her hair, but I think the hairstyle can be very cute. Maybe a real deterrent to this hairstyle is in trying to relax everything (or do you relax it?) to where you try to go all natural or something?

With the success of three of my other hair-related blogs, let me go into showing more pictures of the hairstyle I'm trying to discuss here:

Curly Bob.

^ from: hairstylesvillage.com - a beautiful curly afro bob hairstyle.

This curly bob right here exudes elegance and cuteness in a short hairstyle. Take note of how her curly hair beautifully frames her already beautiful face and smile. The part in her hair adds some extra diversion to her otherwise lovely hairstyle.

Traditional Curly Afro.

^ from: carefair.com - a more traditional curly afro bob.

When coming up with this blog post, this was kind of what I had in mind coming up with this topic. I think a female who has a curly afro can be cute. The problem can lie in trying to wear certain clothes with this hairstyle. I wonder if females have to treat their hair or something before putting on certain clothes (like a T-shirt or a tank top).

As for the hair, it can be cute to have such big and wild hair in this afro style. I've just found something cute about having hair like this while smiling and looking pretty. The sides just seem to be dominated by the curly afro. I think the look can be cute. Trying to maintain hair like this, however, is somewhat something to ponder.

Cute Curly Bob

This bob exhibits the curly afro-like bob at its absolute cutest. This young lady smiles very cutely while her curly bob looks equally cute. Her face and smile are framed perfectly with this lovely curly bob. Cute, isn't she? :)

Over-the-Knee and Thigh-High Boots

Boots That Go ABOVE the Knees Have Become Trendy Lately, but What Do I Think About Them?

(UPDATED: November 9, 2011)

I've never liked over-the-knee boots. I guess I've had certain "rules" with the knees. For example... I don't really like Bermuda shorts for them extending just above the knees. I'd rather knee-high boots rather than boots above the knees. I think pairing Bermuda shorts with knee-high boots (or at least mid-calf) is just stupid. This may sound offensive, but I can't think of over-the-knee boots without thinking (exotic dancer). I have no reason to be enticed or excited seeing these being worn casually.

NOV 9 2011 - Due to copyright, I have had to edit featuring a picture. My deepest apologies.

--- Over-the-Knee/Thigh-High Boots at a Glance ---

This is what fashion designers want you to think about the possibilities of looking fabulous with over-the-knee and thigh-high boots:

OTK boots and mini skirt
^ from: shoeseria.com - ...what designers go for in designing over-the-knee boots.

But really, these boots are better left for adult entertainers and street walkers than trendy fashionistas. Sure, some make them look chic and some do look pretty nice; but it doesn't mean I have to love them.

I'm sorry... I'm not sold on thigh-high boots because this is what I think of when designers try to make thigh-high boots "chic." I gave up on discussing fashion when I've seen many love these. I don't have to wear them, but it doesn't mean I have to praise them. There are exceptions, but I dislike almost all over-the-knee boots. I don't get what the big deal is over these and trying to make these trendy. More reasons why will be covered later in this blog entry.

--- Chic? I Don't Think So... ---

Think about it like this... there was a trend a few years ago which gave a chic edge to short-shorts. I absolutely loved trouser-like short-shorts on females. The shorts were cute, showing that you actually could sport a cute pair of pumps or ankle boots with these and look great. Another example- an update to rompers/playsuits. Many think of rompers as these embarrassing short jumpsuits from the '80s and '90s. But what happened? Some of the rompers of today look great (especially those that look like short dresses). But then you have these over-the-knee boots. This is an attempt and making over-the-knee boots chic... and it's a fail. One of my fears would be seeing these over-the-knee boots tucked into jeans, and one time, I actually saw some lady wear over-the-knee boots tucked into jeans. FAIL! The same would go for trying to wear a short skirt with these tall boots. FAIL!

Again, I can't help but think (street walker) when I see over-the-knee boots. Maybe I get over them in time, but I just don't see it happening anytime soon. I'd much rather boots below the knees. Credit designers for trying something different and go with an above-the-knee look. However, I always say- different doesn't always mean better. That's CERTAINLY not the case with these open-toe boots.

UPDATED: 3/11/2010
I mentioned thigh-high boots into jeans. Here is an example below:

over the knee boots in jeans
^ from: trendy-fashion-buzz.com - three examples of jeans tucked into over-the-knee boots. And this look is somehow... chic?

I'm going to be honest here... I created my fashion-themed blog entries to discuss fashion the way I see them. I broke up from discussing fashion on a message board so I'm now discussing things the way I see fit. So get ready...

When the look of gaucho pants with boots and cropped pants with tall boots came about, I was able to tolerate it. Maybe the gaucho pants + boots look I was able to tolerate more because I think of gaucho pants as a split skirt. A skirt (even a split skirt) with boots is perfectly fine. Cropped pants/jeans with boots is also perfectly fine. I'm actually a bit surprised that look has phased out. Jeans into boots was something I was able to later tolerate after a few years.

--- Thigh-High/Over-Knee Boots + Skirts/Dresses? ---

^ from: flickr.com - over-the-knee boots with a mini skirt. Really... are pants overrated?

But with short skirts and short dresses with thigh-high boots... not only do I not see the style, I don't get the look either. Then above, you have thigh-high boots into jeans. My response- why? I don't see the style, I don't see what good it makes tucking jeans into thigh-high boots. Jeans into boots works for the knee-length boots I've hated and eventually liked. I know fashion has no boundaries and that trying new things and radical concepts can make for various reactions. But for thigh-high boots with short skirts or into jeans... I just don't like the look of thigh-high boots into jeans. So rather than get into a shouting match on (that message board), I'd rather take my opinions to my blog, where I'm responsible for myself.

And when you have long-enough skirts with thigh-high or over-knee boots, it almost makes me wonder... are pants overrated? At least with legging pants and knee-high boots, it was acceptable. I was one of the first to accept tunic + leggings even has mini skirt + leggings was becoming fashionable. But no, someone has to wear over-the-knee boots with skirts at least knee-length. Why not wear pants instead of a skirt? Are legs too precious to where anyone who wants to wear a skirt has to have over-the-knee boots worn with them? What's wrong with pants? I don't freaking get this look at all.

--- Thigh-High/Over-Knee Boots Into Jeans? ---

Thigh-High and Over-Knee boots are what I've considered as (exotic dancer) boots. Are all of them (exotic dancer) boots? No. Some of which are actually pretty nice looking. So what about pairing these with thigh-high or over-the-knee boots like in the picture I posted? It's the equivalent of taking some clear (exotic dancer) shoes and trying to dress them up with bootcut jeans or a cute dress. The shoes are still tasteless as a whole, but someone chose to dress them up. Fashion has no rules, but I think footwear should NEVER go above the knees. And with thigh-high or over-the-knee boots tucked into jeans, I don't see what makes this stylish.

The initial reason why I disliked tucking jeans into boots as a style is because I thought of this look as a way to prevent your jean/pant legs from getting wet or messy while walking in miserable conditions (like rain, mud, flooded areas, heavy snow, etc.). I thought the look was pointless when it wasn't miserable to walk in. But then, I got to appreciate the style eventually because the boots (especially excluding any snow or Winter boots), coupled with the jeans a femme is wearing, can make for a very sexy and hot look. So imagine what wearing thigh-high boots must be like on the basis of function. I don't like the look. Basically... why wear pants or a decent-length skirt if you are wearing boots above the knees? Some are going to say "sexy" or "cute" with thigh-high boots and tucking jean legs into them. I think it's both overkill and unstylish. If you're trying to accentuate and flatter the body, why not go with a good-fitting pair of jeans and a nice pair of knee-high boots rather than go with some ridiculously tall boots?

What is really being accomplished with this look? What? The fact that you want to wear something comfy as a pair of jeans, but want to wear a pair of slimming and stylish boots? Slimming jeans is one thing; slimming jeans and slimming boots is another. I just don't understand the look or can appreciate it as I have with knee-high boots into jeans. Then again, I'm no fashion expert. That's why when I thought I knew about fashion, I "retired" from getting into any fashion discussions. I felt like I was in places where I didn't belong. And as a result, I just basically went my own way. Because when you feel like the only friend you have is yourself, you are basically your own independent person. The only one who understands you is you.

You are free to debate on thigh-high/over-knee boots tucked into jeans, but I just think it's overkill and unstylish. Someone's sure to disagree with me (at least those who give a damn about what I type about). I just don't get the over-knee or thigh-high boots look, especially when jeans or pants are tucked into them. And how much leg coverage/hiding do you need if you so insist on tucking these boots into jeans/pants (or even leggings, since most wear these as pants to begin with)? I see nothing sexy, hot, stylish... whatever about over-knee boots into jeans. Thigh-highs with jeans is overkill and ugly.

I stress again... I don't know fashion. I'm retired from getting into any spirited talk. That's why I'm doing my own fashion blabber on my blog because at least I know I have myself to regulate my fashion opinions. I can cross the line and blame myself for it.

Thank you for reading!
