Updating your wardrobe. Staying in tune with the latest trends. Don't wear something that's so long time ago. For many, sticking with trends and seasons are the best way to stay in tune with fashion. For many others, just wearing whatever you feel most comfortable with is more important than always following trends. A fashion trend has to be something that you're going to want to go out and wear to your heart's content.
--- Saying "Yes" to Fashion Trends ---
Staying with fashion trends means that you're actively changing up your wardrobe and wearing certain items that are commonly worn by others. There are two methodologies to trends- (1) wear because everyone else is working a trend, and (2) wear because you like working a certain trend. Trends can range from things worn by celebrities and models to mostly pop culture material that catches on like an epidemic.
Following trends is a means for many fashionable types to stay updated with the latest styles. Never mind the idea of going with a look because you love it, but more of going with a look because it's hot right now, and you want to show your support of a certain style. The element that is notwithstanding is wearing clothing of a certain trend in a certain way.
--- Saying "No" to Fashion Trends ---
As much as there are those looking for the latest styles, there are those who feel more comfortable just going out and buying clothing people (males and females) will wear and continually wear rather than always keep with the latest trends. Some people probably don't even care if what they wear is "so last year" or "so last season."
Nothing really resembles some kind of rock star mentality than breaking apart from everybody else and expressing your own style. I keep thinking back on '90s style, for example. It was a little '70s style with the bootcut and flare jeans and pants, not to mention some of the chunky platform sneakers/shoes/boots/sandals, and a little rebellious and daring with the midriff-baring styles. If you're wearing clothes a certain way and having a certain style frowned upon by many, then as long as you are comfortable in what you wear and like how you look, that's all that matters no matter what anyone else thinks.
--- Where do I Fit In? ---
I don't really care what's hot. Now I am a male, so it's rather unlikely my own males follow whatever's the hottest looks or styles for men. Fashion is more versatile for women than us guys. While I believe in trends, I don't believe in actively pursuing and expressing a certain fashion style based on a certain trend. Almost like constantly being under pressure to wear the latest clothing and styles to keep pace in a changing fashion world.
