Motorcycle Style - The 2010 Ducati Multistrada Series

Ducati built the Multistrada as an all-in-one package. Four different settings (Sport, Touring, Urban, and Enduro) allow for this bike to take on on-road and off-road conditions with the different electronic settings. This bike can be thought of more like a supermoto motorcycle. Supermoto bikes can easily handle both on-road and off-road riding. And if you watch supermoto races, you notice these bikes taking on both on-road and off-road conditions and surfaces.

This blog entry shows my thoughts on the style of the Ducati Multistrada. Because this includes the touring model, I named it "Ducati Multistrada SERIES" to denote all models of the Ducati Multistrada. I won't mention them specifically here, but this post also pertains to models like the Multistrada 1200S, and Multistrada 1200S Touring.

--- Motorcycle Style: The 2010 Ducati Multistrada ---
Meet this Italian stallion:
Ducati Multistrada
^ from: motorturn.com (best I could find) - The Ducati Multistrada. The touring version features side cases for storing your helmet.

This is the kind of motorcycle that tries to be an omnipotent and omniscient force. It doesn't have the seductive appeal of a superbike or sportbike (like with the Desmosedici RR), but it isn't really like a dirt bike in looks. The bike comes with two helmet cases to enjoy some touring. Maybe you want to ride from Chicago to Philadelphia on a capable bike. This bike could be your dream bike for that. It is a nice-looking bike whether riding solo or in two-up. It has a nice-sounding engine packing 150 horsepower at 9250 rpm and has 87.5 lb. ft. of torque at 7500 rpm. And as with almost any Ducati, it sure looks sexy in red.

Exterior.

The first thing I notice about the Multistrada series is just how much the bike has the look of both a sport bike and a dirt bike at the same time. It has an edgy and stylish appearance. It is the kind of motorcycle that tries to be both a sportbike AND a motard at the same time. It has some very nice-style headlights. The headlights look like a mean set of eyes from a ferocious beast, only that this beast The bike even has a nice tall windshield like you may see on touring bikes. From the sides, you note its motard-style appearance. It has the sporty character of a sportbike while also having some motard-like cues on the sides. It still does its job by nicely seating yourself and a companion. The twin-pipe exhaust is on the sides. The oval exhaust tips look like what you might find on some race cars. The rear details are styled nicely as well with a fierce-looking taillight.

Ready to Ride.

The Multistrada has a nice digital instrument panel. It is very sophisticated with a great host of electronic functions and settings for the Multistrada. It is possible on this bike to feel like both a MotoGP rider AND an FIM motocross rider at the same time with the digital instrument panel. A stylish gas cap adorns the front of the bike as you look ahead.

Motorcycle Style - The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R

(UPDATED: October 19, 2011)

Kawasaki's finest superbike today is the Ninja ZX-10R. It's their answer to anything from any of its fellow Japanese offerings or any non-Japanese superbike. This motorcycle moves you even when standing still. It is a colorful machine even if not in the Lime Green distinctive to Kawasaki. This blog entry is a style look at the Kawasaki ZX-10R. It is a look at how I think this motorcycle looks to me. Please note that this blog entry mostly concerns the 2010 Ninja ZX-10R.

LATEST UPDATE(S):

OCT 19 2011 - took out some text to make searches relevant to this post

--- Motorcycle Style: The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R ---

Meet the Ninja ZX-10R:
Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R
^ from: bikechatter.co.uk - the 2010 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R.

I'm not really a Kawasaki person with motorcycles. This machine looks and performs very capable. Its looks are stunning. It doesn't really boast the sort of character that a Yamaha has, but it's definitely not a bad looker.

If you think about this bike as a beast ready to sink its fangs into unsuspecting prey, you'd be absolutely right just by looking at its headlights. The bike is mad at every last motorcycle that thinks it's better than the Ninja ZX-10R. Between the headlights is a ram air induction system. A sharp pair of side turn signals and side mirrors makes them sharp. Its windshield. Perhaps the biggest draws to this motorcycle is how the bike is made smaller with its many touches of black. It is designed ergonomically. There is a kick stand on the left side to help keep this bike propped up. Its muffler is on the right side, and it is designed very nicely to compliment the aggressive character and nature of the bike. The ZX-10R is more along the lines of making the most with the least (design-wise), and has succeeded in being a mostly fierce and stylish motorcycle. I do wish the wheels look a bit better, though. You could probably purchase some better aftermarket wheels if you don't like them that much. You'll still be riding a bike you can lean into the corners with pride.

When ready to ride, you'll see the instrument panel. Nearest to you is the Öhlins steering damper with the Öhlins logo. In left center past the steering damper lies the ignition. Straight ahead center is the tachometer. The tach features an analog tachometer with a digital speedometer. The tach suggests a redline of about 12500 or 13000 rpm, and maxes out to a 15000 rpm. I'm guessing the lights on either side of the tachometer are more like the tachometer on some sophisticated race cars.

The Ninja ZX-10R is aggressive and powerful in design, just not in-your-face and brash. It would prefer to convince you with its performance rather than make the most of its appearance to convince you. It is still a greatly-designed motorcycle. This is just the thing if you don't like Hondas, Yamahas, or Suzukis. This is if you prefer a Kawasaki to be your two-wheeled superbike rocket. Thanks a lot for reading! Hope you liked this blog entry and my others. Take care and have an amazing day/night!

Motorcycle Style - The BRP Can-Am Spyder RS

(UPDATED: May 17, 2012)

Three wheels and a snowmobile feel makes this one weird motorcycle. This three-wheeler can be thought of as the hybrid of a superbike and a snowmobile (only without sleds or tracks). It is the most unusual motorcycle this side of the Campagna T-Rex. Unlike the T-Rex, this is a full-on motorcycle. Many have criticized this bike as taking away from the thrill of riding a sportbike as you dont have to lean into the corner to ride. In the TV spots for the Can-Am Spyder, (indirect quote) "it would have been the best vehicle in its category... if it had a category." Whether you think of this as a three-wheel sportbike or a snowmobile for asphalt, you can agree- this is DEFINITELY one head-turning motorcycle!

This blog entry only concerns the Can-Am Spyder RS (because I don't want to confuse myself with the model names).

PERSONAL NOTE: Thanks to all of you for keeping this blog post popular! I've added more material to make this post better for all of you. Hope you enjoy this read here!

--- Motorcycle Style: The BRP Can-Am Spyder RS ---

THIS is the bike I will be talking about:

^ from: paddockreport.com - the 2009 BRP Can-Am Spyder RS. Asphalt snowmobile or a three-wheel sportbike? You decide.

I've seen these before, but never really on the road. You swear you are tearing up the snow when you ride this thing. Let me explain this in a creative way- if your sole purpose in life is to turn peoples' heads and get attention, this is a can't miss vehicle! A Rotax 990 V-Twin engine powers this very unusual bike. Then too, you can do U-Turns without having to worry about dumping your bike trying. It even has a reverse gear to it, making it very versatile. This blog entry is about the RS model, but there's also the RT model that allows you to do a little towing and has an extra seat for a companion.

The front of this bike shows its snowmobile character with its snowmobile-like design up front. Two circular headlights accentuate the area near the windshield. The two wheels have covered tops that include signals. The bike features some sports suspension for the two front wheels. Its snowmobile appearance gives this machine a great deal of muscle, and it shows from the front and especially on the sides. On the right-hand side, you spot the big muffler. The back of the bike is hard and doesn't allow for anyone to sit behind you in two-up riding. Even when you look at it from the back, you spot its athletic nature. It is almost similar to feeling like you're on the Nike One concept car in Gran Turismo 4. Only that instead of in some kind of running stance, you're riding like a MotoGP rider. The overall stance of the bike is lower than almost any sportbike or superbike.

The instrument panel of the BRP Can-Am Spyder RS boasts some stylish analog gauges along with a digital readout in the center. The speedometer is on the right, and the tachometer is on the right. The tach suggests this bike goes up to 12000 rpm and redlines at 9000 rpm. The handlebar assembly itself looks nice and sporty.

Video Preview.

You've seen me describe its looks. Now, see (and hear) it in action, along with a review of it:

How you like this machine now?

All in all, the Can-Am Sypder is one of the most unusual motorcycles you'll ever see. It is, at least, a full-on motorcycle, even with two front wheels, unlike the Campagna T-Rex. It's okay to stare when you see this thing. It may lack the thrill of riding a two-wheeled motorcycle, but it sure makes up for it in a fun and unique motorcycle. It's nearly impossible to dump this bike or (Heaven forbid) try to lift up both wheels and do a wheelie. It lacks a lot of what makes sportbikes fun. But even if just in the interest of riding something completely different, this is a can't miss motorcycle. The whole Spyder range from the BRP Can-Am lineup are just unreal.

Motorcycle Style - The KTM 1190 RC8

Austrian two-wheeled muscle comes in the form of this KTM RC8. Even with the likes of British, German, and Italian makes creating awesome motorcycles, KTM has their own beauty. It comes in the form of a futuristic and bold motorcycle. That motorcycle is called the RC8. This is a blog entry where I talk about how I think the bike looks. Of course, that's what all of my "Motorcycle Style" blog entries are about- my thoughts on how motorcycles (in this case) look.

Motorcycle Style: The KTM 1190 RC8
Here is the Austrian superbike in the flesh:

^ from: fasterandfaster.net, by way of bikewalls.com

Rather than anything alluring or in-your-face, the KTM is more futuristic. There is a great deal of sharpness in the lines this bike has. Perhaps this is a symbol of the RC8's sharp character. There isn't a great deal of bodywork on this bike. It kind of reminds me of the Ducati 999R with not a whole lot of bodywork. I'm used to superbikes that have a lot of smooth curves while also packing a punch aggression-wise. But unfortunately, this is like a modern Cadillac- lots of edges and sharp lines. The RC8 has a tall headlight at the front rather than two equal-size headlights on either side at the front. The bike's muffler points out on the underbody on its right side. The swingarm is pretty edgy as well. About the only design element of the RC8 that isn't edgy are the side mirrors. Even the windshield is short and edgy.

When you're ready to ride, you're met with a small digital instrument panel. I don't know if I'd be able to read the orange display or not.

I'm sorry to say this, but I'm not real fond of the KTM 1190 RC8 lookswise. I'm sure it goes like heck regardless of how it looks, but from a style standpoint, a bit too edgy to me. I don't know if I'd be comfortable riding this bike if I were an actual motorcycle rider. I'm not saying it's ugly. I am just saying that it isn't very much a good looker. Remember that my style entries focus on how I think things are DESIGNED, not anything on performance. I'm just not feeling the RC8 style-wise.

Maybe you do? Comment away!

Motorcycle Style - The BMW S 1000 RR

(UPDATE: May 17, 2012)

BMW Motorrad aims to please in the superbike segment with their new BMW S 1000 RR. It is a motorcycle with a claimed 193 horsepower with about 181hp at the rear wheel. They want a piece of the superbike segment aside from their awesome K 1300 S. This bike is really a head-turner in more ways than one. Once you read more about this motorcycle, you begin to appreciate it as a fierce competitor in the superbike segment. I'm not here to report on this bike from a performance standpoint. Instead, I'm here to talk about how I think this motorcycle looks. If this motorcycle were a Batman villain, this would definitely be Two-Face. The two sides of this motorcycle don't match at all. It has two different faces, but is altogether a powerful and fierce superbike.

Let me talk about this bike's style.

--- Motorcycle Style: The BMW S 1000 RR ---

This picture shows you the BMW S 1000 RR. I must warn you that this is only the right side of the motorcycle, because this motorcycle has two sides to it, neither of which are alike in any such fashion:

BMW S 1000 R
^ from: spbcar.ru - Prepare to be mystified by the highly appealing S 1000 R

This BMW motorcycle boasts great aggression. The first thing I notice about the bike's looks is how the headlights look. Rather than a similar pair of headlights, one headlight is circular while the other is fairly wide. The first thing I can think of is that this bike is styled more like an endurance racing superbike. Those endurance racing motorcycles usually have just one headlight to see during endurance races. So I can imagine the right-side headlight being covered up. The sides of this bike are ferocious. On its left, you see a superbike with aggressive gills on the side. The left side also has the muffler. On its right, rather than those gills, a big open duct is on the right side. The rear of the motorcycle has a fierce spear-like design at the rear. It has a very unusual taillight cluster. It looks like multiple crystals grouped together. Its design overall looks like a sophisticated taser. There is also an extra piece showing two different signal lights (or hazard lights?).

The instrument panel would make anyone feel like a World Superbike or MotoGP rider. It has a big tachometer as well as two digital displays. The bike feels like a sophisticated racer behind the handle bars despite its identity crisis-stricken looks elsewhere.

Motorcycle News reported that during Masterbike 2010, this bike was surprising faster than any other European or Japanese motorcycle. Looks like BMW want to show they belong among the other superbikes of the world. If that's true, then world... watch out. BMW Motorrad is ready to crash this superbike party proper. Check out this video of the BMW S1000RR:

Motorcycle Style - The Peraves MonoTracer

(UPDATED: May 17, 2012)

Perhaps the most unusual motorcycle this side of the Campagna T-Rex, the MonoTracer from Peraves AG of Switzerland is both a motorcycle and a car. But unlike the T-Rex, this machine is more motorcycle-like than the moto-car combination from Campagna. Peraves AG is the company based in (or near) Winterthur, Switzerland that makes the MonoTracer. This is a very unusual and futuristic machine. Many feel this could be the future of motoring if Peraves had its way. A good thing about this machine? No worries about being flown off of your bike or having to have rain or bugs in your face. If you think this machine seems too heavy to lean into the corners, you'll be pleased to know that this motorcycle has two little deployable wheels on the side to aid in making sure the bike doesn't fall on its sides. This bike is powered by a 130hp BMW motorcycle engine, and can do 0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds. This machine has the miles per gallon numbers you'd expect with scooters. This may be the most comfortable motorcycle you'll ever ride. Be ready to pay up if you want your own, though. I hear these things cost about $80,000 USD.

PERSONAL NOTE: Because of your interest and in keeping this post popular, I have added more content to this blog post! Thanks for your support!

LATEST UPDATE(S)/REVISION(S):

MAY 17 2012 - edited look of post

--- Motorcycle Style: The Peraves MonoTracer ---

Meet this futuristic and unusual motorcycle here:
Peraves MonoTracer
^ from: motorcycles.about.com (the little driver number at the front not included)

I can think of a variety of analogies to use to describe this thing. However, I'll need to choose carefully. One way to look at it is like a fighter jet with handle bars and a windshield wiper. The view up front boasts some bold headlights. What the bike may lack in in-your-face character makes up for with a futuristic design. The bike, as I mentioned earlier, has a fighter jet-like appearance as well as a windshield wiper. A pair of side view mirrors are as quirky as the rest of this bike's design. The sides are nothing boastful or imposing- just futuristic. In addition, you note the area where the two side wheels are deployed to keep the bike from falling on its side when slowing down. Somewhere between the side wheels and the rear wheels is where the engine lies. The muffler sides on the left side of this bike. Up top, this bike has a long strip of glass that serves as the moonroof for this bike. The rear of the bike isn't anything imposing or menacing... just futuristic. This machine looks like it should be a motorcycle that was made for 20 or 25 years from now rather than a bike designed about a few years ago.

Once you climb into the MonoTracer, you are met with two seats and the handle bars. No accelerator or brake pedals- just the handle bars for acceleration and deceleration. The seats look very comfortable. Its instrument panel consists of multiple analog gauges. This is about as close to as you'll get to climbing into a fighter jet as you step inside the MonoTracer.

The MonoTracer isn't anything to blow away every other motorcycle on the road. However, it may just be the future of motorcycle riding. No worries with high siding or anything. This is essentially a touring bike that can be safe to ride in and feel protected in. I'm not sure about doing anything like taking this to a technical race track, though. Still, this Swiss make has made such a unique motorcycle. It's a very expensive motorcycle, costing just a bit more than the Ducati Desmosedici RR. Most people would rather spend that money on a Ducati Desmosedici RR than the Peraves MonoTracer. While both motorcycles can turn heads, the MonoTracer is a once-in-a-lifetime machine. It is a motorcycle from the future that has found a home in these present time. Marvel in this motorcycle's unique and unusual charm.

Or, you can see for yourself what this machine is like by watching this video:

Visit www.monotracer.ch for more information on the MonoTracer or to order one. This motorcycle retails for somewhere between $60,000 US Dollars to maybe $80,000 US Dollars. You can learn more about the Peraves MonoTracer by visiting their offical website at http://www.monotracer.ch/. Thank you for reading!

Motorcycle Style - Campagna T-Rex

(UPDATED: May 17, 2012)

It's a bike you can drive. It's a car you can ride. I'm putting this under Motorcycle Style because you need a motorcycle license to use this machine. This, despite the fact you sit behind the wheel of this motorcycle by Canada's Campagna Corporation. It is a street-legal combination of a Formula 1 race car and a MotoGP motorcycle. All of which, powered by a Kawasaki engine. This is a car you may be familiar with if you watch Rob Dyrdek's "Fantasy Factory." Get ready for a one of my Style segments on one of the most unusual machines you'll ever see.

--- Motorcycle Style: The Campagna T-Rex ---

My description may vary upon which exact T-Rex I'm discussing. Here is a Campagna T-Rex to set the mood:

T-Rex - seriouswheels.com
^ from: www.seriouswheels.com - This three-wheeler has two front tires and one mean Kawasaki engine.

The T-Rex capitvates you even standing still. This machine boldly projects itself up front. It is a three-wheeled javelin ready to impale its opposition. The front end is indicative of this. The two side mirrors are molded onto the machine, so no worries about accidentally knocking them off in a crash or something. Some later T-Rex models have two small headlights on each side view mirror including signal and hazard lights. Some T-Rexes have just one big circular headlight at the front of either side view mirror. The side mirrors, coupled this this machine's front end, provide a menacing appearance. There are body pieces that cover the tops of both front wheels. The sides of the T-Rex have their own side air ducts. Both of which, fierce and aggressive. There is no windshield to this machine, meaning that you'll have to be careful using this machine on a rainy/snowy day or if any oncoming birds have diarhhea and want to take out their frustrations on your shiny T-Rex. Though there is no windshield, it is optional since you can order a windshield for it. Above the T-Rex is a hood scoop ready to feed air into that Kawasaki engine. Side bags are also optional for this beast of a machine. The back end flows nicely in covering up the rear motorcycle tire. Two big mufflers accentuate the rear along with that lonely rear tire. A superbike-like rear taillight completes the look of one beastly automobile.

From the inside, you'll swear it's a track car with its racing-style seats. A sporty steering wheel is complimented with a series of analog gauges as well as a handbrake. At least be sure of one thing- this is a motorcycle you could comfortably ride.

This, then, is one of the most unusual machines in history. It's not a car, but not really a motorcycle. Anyone who wants to know what would happen if Formula 1 car and a MotoGP motorcycle made love each other and gave birth to a motorized offspring, the Campagna T-Rex may just be the offspring. You can drive this motorcycle. You can ride this car. Absolutely one of the most unusual and cool machines anywhere in the world.

Motorcycle Style - Suzuki Hayabusa (Second Generation)

Suzuki's ultimate sporty motorcycle is the Hayabusa (or the GSX1300R). Its top speed can reach and exceed 185 mph. This is the ultimate motorcycle as far as horsepower and speed are concerned. Since its birth in 1999, the Suzuki Hayabusa is basically a speed demon on just two wheels. There have been two generations of the Hayabusa. The current generation model is the 2nd-Gen model. The wet dreams of many a two-wheeled speed demon has been the motorcycle who desires to burn up the road and go super fast. You can carve corners pretty well with the Hayabusa if you're a good road racer. This bike is both fast and powerful (even for a motorcycle), making it atop the hyper sport segment of sportbikes for many fans of this bike. This bike has even become a favorite for tuners turn into their own insane Suzuki beast.

Please note that my Car Style and Motorcycle Style blog entries pertains to how I think things LOOK rather than any kind of reviews. I simply talk about how I think something looks. Here is Suzuki's angelic devil here:

^ from: nitrobahn.com

--- Motorcycle Style: The Suzuki Hayabusa (2nd Generation) ---
The Suzuki Hayabusa is intensely fast. However, it's also very beautiful while being such an open road beast. I personally like this motorcycle in blue or that blue/silver combination. Not sure if the blue/silver combination is for the latest model or not, though.

The front of the big has a lovely presence. It presents the same kind of Suzuki sharpness in design up front. The sides of the bike show just how much of a speed demon this hyper sportbike is. The big side vents show that this is a fire-breathing machine. from the sides. Especially considering this bike can do speeds north of 185 miles per hour, at least you know this is a bike that looks the part while also devastating all in its wake. The rear features a big hard tail to it, as well as two signal lights on the sides and a tall brake light between the two signal lights. On your right is the big muffler.

When you're ready to ride, you have a lot of analog gauges in the instrument panel and some kind of digital display between the tachometer and speedometer. The tachometer suggests a redline of 11000 rpm before needing to upshift, and it also suggests that it maxes out at 13000 rpm. The analog speedometer suggests this bike's 185+ mph top speed. This bike doesn't play. Grippy handle bars are there for you to unleash this beast full song.

Overall, I think the Suzuki Hayabusa is a fantastic-looking sportbike. This bike is long and wide. It has the same ferocious character as any of the most aggressive sports cars. But while it has a beastly appearance and persona, it is also a beautiful-looking motorcycle. Fast never looked so good.

Motorcycle Style - The 2009 Triumph Daytona 675

Tourist Trophy helped me to appreciate this motorcycle. Perhaps one of the best middlewight motorcycles. The Triumph Daytona 675 has been in existance since 2006. This blog entry concerns how I think about its style, and I mostly want to talk about how the latest Daytona 675 is like. I was watching a YouTube video on this bike, and just listening to this thing is sweet music. It sounds beautiful. Maybe not Ducati beautiful, but this British middleweight/supersport bike is a very lovely machine.

NOTE: If you're used to the term "supersport," I'm going to somewhat alternate between "middleweight" and "supersport."

--- Motorcycle Style: The Triumph Daytona 675 ---
Here is how this bike looks:

The first thing I like about this motorcycle is the edgy kind of headlights. The headlights look like a ferocious dinosaur ready to sink its teeth into any unsuspecting prey. Between the headlights is this triangular scoop that looks as fierce as the headlights. It is a middleweight bike, but it's a middleweight bike that looks like it's ready to eat superbikes alive. It's a fiercely-designed motorcycle with plenty of sharp edges and big vents. It's civilized with a lovely pair of side view mirrors and a very aerodynamic windshield. The side profile of this motorcycle is something special. The bike looks like it's running in top gear at full speed from the sides. A big muffler at the rear is met with a crystalized taillight cluster just above it.

At least from a style perspective, the Triumph Daytona 675 is a fierce-looking motorcycle. It has a beautiful engine roar to it and is a plenty capable sportbike. This is quite the middleweight motorcycle if unimpressed by Japanese and other European middleweight offerings. It is a lovely machine as a whole.

Motorcycle Style: The BMW K1300S

BMW is well known for their amazing sports cars. Not as many know them for amazing motorcycles as well. One of their strong motorcycles is the BMW K1300 S.

--- Motorcycle Style: The BMW 1300S ---
Here is the bike in question:

^ from: hellforleathermagazine.com

The BMW K1300S is a sportbike with sharp styling and plenty of boldness. The boldness begins with the huge headlight up front. It continues with sharp and elegant lines up front as well as on the sides. A lovely pair of mirrors adds to the style of this gorgeous German beauty. It's almost as if BMW Motorrad extended the style of some of their cars to their motorcycles. Only these aren't as grotesque as some recent BMWs (like the newer 5-Series Gran Turismo). If you look at the seating area of the K1300S, it almost seems like a touring bike because it seems like you could comfortably seat two people. I think this bike was designed to be comfortable for both one rider and maybe two riders. The muffler is on the right side, and it looks like a cannon about ready to shoot upwards at any car or bike coming its way. The wheels look pretty sweet with some spiral-like wheel designs. There is a lot of bodywork to cover the engine. It's not like this is a nice naked bike. That bodywork, however, is very sharp and boastful. The rear of the bike is quite sexy with its miniscule taillight and big rear tire. Its rear is hot- just like that sexy girl you want to hook up with or be friends with, even though she's taken (or happily married). Believe me- I know that feeling (sadly).

The instrument panel consists of either a big MotoGP-style readout and some extra gauges, or a combination of two analog gauges and a smaller digital readout. The handlebar assembly is styled nicely. A metallic gas cap adds a sporty touch to this bike's sporty character.

This bike is plenty sharp in looks and in performance. You're in for a sweet ride when you ride this bike. It has a great combination of elegance and sportiness in its design. BMW Motorrad made one great-looking machine.

Motorcycle Style - The 2010 Yamaha VMAX

The Yamaha VMAX is one of the most head-turning cruiser-type motorcycles anywhere. This is an aggressively-styled motorcycle with PLENTY of style.

The bike: Yamaha VMAX (recommend you right-click on the link and open either in a new tab or a new window)

This is a very tough bike. A big, yet smooth headlight lights the road ahead. There's lots of chrome and lots of stylish accents. There are circular scoops that are situated around the dummy tank feeding air into this mean bike. A big radiator is situated near the front wheel. The VMAX features a strange-looking muffler, but not as lovely a rear muffler as the VMAX I remember from "Tourist Trophy." All the bodywork on this bike is both exceptional. A nice taillight cluster compliments the rear of this cruiser. Its overall design is made for style and meanness. Who says mean can't look good?

When riding, you get a nice set of chrome handle bars. A big tachometer along with a shift light compliment the view ahead of the handle bars. This tachometer includes a digital speedometer encased within the tachometer. Closer to you when riding is a digital instrument panel. So while the outside is pretty mean, the instrument panel is pretty technical.

The VMAX is simply a wicked awesome bike. It has been ridiculed, however, for its handling. This is a very mean motorcycle from Yamaha. It begs to be ridden hard down the highway. Go turn some heads on this lovely Yamaha.

Motorcycle Style - The Yamaha FJR1300A

For the first time, I'll turn my attention to a sport touring bike. A friend of mine on GTPlanet's forums has an FJR1300. If you're not accustomed to motorcycles, think of sport touring bikes like high-performance cars that do not sacrifice or compromise performance and luxury. The reason why I chose to do a Motorcycle Style blog entry on the Yamaha FJR1300A is for its exciting styling cues. I had already reviewed another Yamaha previously. So let me share my style thoughts on the Yamaha FJR1300. And I'll go along with the new model.

The bike: Yamaha FJR1300A

Yamaha's FJR1300A boasts exciting style. You can almost swear this motorcycle was carved out of metal with knives. This is more like a sporty machine with sharp styling cues. The 2010 FJR1300A boasts two huge headlights on either side of the front. The glass encasing makes them look like a demon or an insect with big eyes. A tall windscreen (which I think is adjustable) is there to protect you from getting bug splatters on your teeth. Because... insects are evil (just like haters on YouTube). A nice pair of side view mirrors are nicely styled. The bodywork around this bike is sharply styled and every exciting. You almost swear that it could turn into a Transformer and cause havoc (or save the world, of course). Nothing vanilla about its design. This bike could "comfortably" seat two riders. And for both riders, there are two helmet cases to store those helmets when you park your bike. A lovely pair of chrome mufflers adds some lovely style to this sharp bike. (NOTE: Because I'm unable to get decent pictures of the rear, I won't discuss how the rear of this bike looks.)

When you're ready to start the bike up, you have a nice set of gauges to compliment you. A big analog speedometer up front is met with a tachometer on the left and a digital oil and fuel gauge on the right of the speedometer. It even has its own clock and lets you know what gear you're in.

When you're ready to ride in style, nothing fits the bill quite like the Yamaha FJR1300A lookswise. It has sharp and distinctive style. Its sharpness also lies in its handling prowess. This is a stylish sport tourer to enjoy going on long bike rides and rallies. It's a lovely motorcycle. Silver is a great color for this machine. Yamaha FJR1300A. One sharp motorcycle inside and out.

Motorcycle Style - The 2010 Yamaha YZF-R1

The bike: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/products/modelhome/6/home.aspx

Yamaha makes motorcycles with exciting and sharp design. The motorcycle takes on a more aggressive form up front with its headlight arrangement. The motorcycle itself remains one of the sharpest-looking bikes on the road. As with my Car Style blog entries, I'm only talking about how a machine LOOKS, rather than performance and reviews. If you're looking for a review on how a bike performs or something, look elsewhere. This is strictly about how bikes look.

The front of the bike is sharply styled, but I do miss the clean headlight design of the R1 between 2000 and 2008. I do miss the headlight design with the lights encased into glass. But as I mentioned, it doesn't look ugly. The side mirrors and windscreen are styled cleanly and beautifully. Two leaf-shaped signal lights are a nice touch up front. The sides of the latest R1 has sharp and fierce style. This bike may not have as much body work as the Ducati Desmosedici RR in a previous blog entry, but everything is still styled beautifully. The bike has two big exhaust pipes. Nice wheels and grippy tires compliment this fierce demon.

The bike's instrument display is very cleanly styled. You'll feel like you're piloting this thing in AMA Superbike, World Superbike, the Isle of Man TT, MotoGP, or whatever your favorite motorcycle road racing series is. The gauge indicates a redline of about 13,800 rpm with a max of about 15,000 rpm. There is a digital speedometer with a racing-spec digital readout.

The new Yamaha R1 continues the clean style and fierce appearance of past R1 models. This is the kind of motorcycle you could use to show those Honda and Suzuki riders a thing or two about what a bad ass motorcycle is all about. I love almost all Yamaha models in blue/white. I prefer blue since blue is my favorite color. Anyhow, Yamaha R1. Wicked sick bike!

Motorcycle Style - The Ducati Desmosedici RR

My favorite motorcycles are from Ducati. I equate Ducati to motorcycles like Ferrari to cars. Ducati makes some sexy motorcycles, some even with amazing sounds. One of the loveliest Ducatis to date is the Desmosedici RR. Even if you can't say "Desmosedici" properly, you can at least admit this bike is very hot. And... oh yeah, it costs about $72,000 USD. So be VERY careful this bike doesn't get owned (pwn3d) in a crash.

Low and long headlights accentuate the front of the bike as well as a long opening between the headlights. There are two big headlights on either side followed by small headlights at the outer edges. The side mirrors are kind of styled like big scalpels. There is a lot of body on the Desmosedici RR. All hiding that sweet-sounding engine. This bike in Ducati red is lovely, but it's also lovely (and more racer-like) with the Ducati red + white accents. Ducts around the engine offer some meanness to the bike's overall design. Meaty tires occupy the front and (especially) the rear. The bike's interesting design has a racing-style exhaust situated at the rear and pointing upwards. Where the passenger would sit in a two-up position is where the exhaust is. According to a website I read, the exhaust registers 110 dB. A long taillight assembly is lovely on this bike. Below the taillight assembly is the license plate assembly with two turn signal lights. The bike is overall beautiful and unique.

When riding, you'll be complimented to a nice set of handle bars and a digital instrument panel. This is a MotoGP motorcycle with lights, as said by Europe's Motorcycle News. (MCN). In fact, that quote was made in THIS video:

The Ducati Desmosedici RR is one sexy and fast Ducati. Want to be your own Casey Stoner? Why not fork over $72,500 USD to get your own? It's money well spent for a bike of this performance level. Not sure if you'd want to pay $72K USD for a motorcycle, but if you had that kind of money to burn whereas you'd rather have this than a Chevy Corvette, then you won't be disappointed.

Motorcycle Style - The 2009 Honda CBR1000RR/Fireblade

This post will mark the debut of a new addition to my style chats. This time instead of cars, I'll try and talk about motorcycles. I'm always one to feel that motorcycles can be just as fun as cars, but not as many people love motorcycles as much as they love cars. I'll be talking about how motorcycles are styled to me. I don't know everything there is to know about motorcycles (namely motorcycle parts). So my comments will be limited.

A friend of mine from Spain wants a Honda motorcycle, and she wants a CBR1000RR. She's a big Dani Pedrosa fan. The 2009 CBR1000RR features a sharp set of headlights. They are styled like the eyes of a ferocious beast, giving a mean presence up front. From the sides, it has a lovely overall appearance with plenty of sharp lines. The overall shape on the sides is very nice on the sides. Some openings on the sides help cool off the engine as you go two-wheeling down the road on this superbike. The taillight is pretty miniscule and doesn't look as intimidating or stylish from the rear. On the right side of the bike is the exhaust. The exhaust kind of looks like the barrel of a gun. Almost as if the CBR1000RR is shooting air from the engine into the air as you ride. Intimidating design.

When you're ready to ride, you'll see a nice gauge that has an easy-to-read gauge. A red digital gauge with black lettering is probably useful for night riding. The handle bars and side mirrors are styled nicely along with a very nice windscreen. The gas cap has a nice metallic finish.

When picking colors, I'd probably go for red/black most likely. All black is a nice color as well. Or if you're a Dani Pedrosa fan and want to feel like Mr. Pedrosa, go for the Repsol MotoGP replica colors. Either way, you're riding a Honda, and probably enjoying life on two wheels.
