Take Your Pick - Singapore or Hong Kong?

Two lively Southeast Asian locales are featured- Singapore and Hong Kong. They were also two former British colonies. Both cities are surely two of the liveliest in Asia. If you had to choose between going to either one of these two places, which would you choose? This is another installment of my "Take Your Pick" series of blog posts, where I encourage my readers to share which is better. So let's do it!

--- Take Your Pick: Singapore or Hong Kong? ---

Which do you think is the cooler city? Visit the hypertext links in the headings to visit each city's official travel website. And, uh... TAKE YOUR PICK!

Take Your Pick: Singapore.

Here is a YouTube video (or two) showcasing Singapore:

^ "City by City - Singapore (HD)"

The city-state of Singapore is a lively and eccentric city, not to mention very beautiful. My racing fans know Singapore for the annual Formula 1 night race around the Marina Bay district of Singapore.

Take Your Pick: Hong Kong, S.A.R., China.

So you've seen Singapore. What about Hong Kong, though? Here's your Hong Kong love right here:

^ "City by City Hong Kong In HD"

Often seen as the New York City of the Far East, Hong Kong remains one of the world's liveliest cities. I have always seen Hong Kong, Special Administrative Region, China as an exciting city. I think it is one of the most futuristic-looking cities. I often get blog hits from Hong Kong from all kinds of districts of Hong Kong. The only tower I'm familiar with is the tall IFC (International Finance Center) building that dominates most of Hong Kong's skyline.

A thing I learned about Hong Kong is that its flag bears a flower called the Bauhinia blakeana. By the way, the full official name for Hong Kong is: Hong Kong, Special Administrative Region, China.

So you now know about these two unique locales. Which is better?

--- Singapore or Hong Kong? ---

Both cities are nothing short of spectacular. I would go to both if I were traveling around the world.

Why Singapore?

Singapore has its own unique character. I usually think of the merlion statues shooting water into bays and fountains. They are a spectacular sight. Speaking of spectacular, the city looks amazing at night.

On the blogging side, Singapore is home to two bloggers I follow- missingavenue and Xiaxue. missingavenue is a fashion blog of a young blogger named Melody expressing multiple styles of hers. Xiaxue is a veteran fashion blogger proudly representing Singapore. Her material includes fashion and beauty.

IN CASE YOU'RE INTERESTED:
missingavenue
Xiaxue.blogspot.com - Everyone's reading it.

Why Hong Kong?

I tend to like Hong Kong as it is a very futuristic city. Just watch when Hong Kong has some of its laser light shows when it's nighttime. Hong Kong is very futuristic.

Hong Kong is the hometown of one of my favorite bloggers, Miss Kwong. This is a fashion blog

IN CASE YOU'RE INTERESTED:
Miss Kwong

Which Would I Choose?

It is very close to call. If I HAD to choose one or the other, I'd probably go with Hong Kong; but I think both places are amazing.

So take YOUR pick of these two cities! Which do you like better? Thank you for reading!

Southeast Asian Beauties

(UPDATED: April 9, 2012)

Continuing my Beauties series on Asian ladies, I now introduce Southeast Asia into this discussion. This post includes ladies from places like Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines... all among MANY other locations. This Asian Beauties series continues with Southeast Asian beauties. I would like to welcome and salute all people from the aforementioned countries representing this blog post. Enough talk... time to show you some exotic (and some not-so-exotic) beauties! :D

NOTES: Most pictures were the best ones I could find and use from using searches with Google Images. If I could not find a good-enough picture or video to use, I will link you to some other site where you can learn more about each featured person. If certain images have been blocked, I will try to find some other way to feature each person. I would like to thank all the YouTube channels that allowed embedding so I could educate my audience with YouTube videos. I thank the sites that have allowed me to borrow images. Contact me via E-Mail if there are some that should be removed (for copyright reasons only). I apologize for the inconvenience.

WARNING: Some material in this blog post may not be suitable for all audiences. Videos and pictures are being shown at your own discretion.

LATEST UPDATE:

NOV 27 2011 - made some simple edits

--- Asian Beauties ---

When most people think of Asian people and things, many people (understandably) think of Asia along the Pacific Rim and many of the outlying Pacific islands around Asia. In this series of blog posts regarding Asian beauties, I will showcase various Asian women as some of the most beautiful from this featured part of the world. I will be sure to feature many more lovely ladies from this certain sector of the world in more posts.

Once the series is complete, you may link to any of the following through the list below. Here is a look at the Asian Beauties series:

--- ASIAN BEAUTIES SERIES ---
• East Asian Beauties
• Southeast Asian Beauties
• South Asian Beauties
• Central Asian Beauties

I may plan on doing Middle Eastern beauties separately. Either that, or I may include another blog post in this Asian beauty series to feature Middle Eastern ladies. I am actually not sure how I want to address the South Asia or Middle Eastern beauties at this moment.

Asian Beauties: Southeast Asia.

The following are all the countries/territories represented in this blog post: Brunei, Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam

Now, I must admit something before I begin. This list was NOT easy to come up with. My knowledge of Southeast Asia is not that good. I want to satisfy every audience member especially from the aforementioned countries and people from or of the descent of these aforementioned countries. I hate disappointing people, and I always hope my work means something to all of my readers. My knowledge of personalities from most of these locations is very poor. Regardless, I want all of my readers to bear with me here.

How This Blog Post Works.

You will see certain ladies from the seven represented nations that make up East Asia. Here are the represented nations in order:

• Southeast Asia: Mainland - ladies from mainland Southeast Asian nations.
• Southeast Asia: Maritime - ladies from coastal Southeast Asian nations as well as Asian islands.

So let's get started! Some information on featured people were provided by Wikipedia searches. I may only make mention to certain ladies if I can't find pictures, websites, or videos on each featured lady. Don't forget that I may edit this post from time to time to update my material. I am not including certain images for fear of copyright infringement.

--- Southeast Asia: Mainland ---

THIS REGION: Cambodia, Laos, Burma (Myanmar), Thailand, Vietnam

These are beautiful ladies either from the aforementioned countries or of their aforementioned descent. I have received blog hits from all of these locations before, so I know I hope I can get more hits from these nations.

--- Vietnam ---
Here in Houston, we have the largest Vietnamese population in Texas and about the third largest in the United States. So I've known quite a lot of Vietnamese people in Houston and in the Houston area. That even includes a handful of lovely Vietnamese ladies I've known personally. So it's best I begin with region I am most familiar with.

Nguyen Thuy Lam.

Nguyen Thuy Lam
^ from: www.iamvietnamese.me - Nguyen Thuy Lam wearing a chocolate brown bikini. This candy-sweet cutie won Miss Vietnam Universe winner in 2008.

Nguyen Thuy Lam is both a singer and an actress. The (born: September 10, 1987)-year old won Miss Vietnam Universe in 2008.

Hoàng Thùy Linh.

Known infamously for a sex tape she made in 2007 with her boyfriend, Hoang Thuy Linh is a Vietnamese beauty who is an actress as well as a singer. The (born: August 11, 1988)-year old was born in Vietnam's capital city of Hanoi (or Ha Noi). Here is a look at Hoang Thuy Linh. Enjoy this bit of Vietnamese pop:

Thuy Li.

The import model known as Thuy Li is both a sexy model as well as a lovely go-go dancer. This Vietnamese go-go girl gets loose in this video (not safe for work!):

Riêng Mình Em.

I hope you're ready for some more music. Here is the Vietnamese pop star, Rieng Minh Em. This lady is beautiful! This song is also very cool to listen to. Just too bad my Vietnamese is extremely poor. I think the song translates to "Me Alone":

Chloe Dao.

Chloe Dao
^ from: www.metroactive.com - Chloe Dao.

Season 2 "Project Runway" champion Chloe Dao is a (born: June 15, 1972)-year old woman of Vietnamese ancestry. She created her own design studio called Lot 8 right here in Houston. You can read Chloe Dao's blog (a Blogger/Blogspot blog!) at "Chloe Dao."

Brittanie Ngo.

(ADDED: November 25, 2011) Brittanie Ngo is a benevolent beauty of Vietnamese descent. What makes her different is that she chooses to do modeling shoots only if it is for charity. I first saw her in advertisements for a car bodykit company called Kaminari. Her images are copyrighted, so this is the best I could do to showcase the beautiful Brittanie Ngo. See and hear Brittanie here:

Visit her website at www.brittanie.com.

Michelle Phan (MichellePhan).

MichellePhan is one of YouTube's most popular beauty channels. Michelle Phan herself is a Vietnamese-American beauty expert from Boston. If you have a lot of time on your hands (yeah... say that about MY blog posts!), I'd like to show you a demonstration of one of Michelle Phan's videos. This is a chance for you to see Michelle Phan showcase her beauty talents to you. Here is a video to showcase her beauty and creativity to you, as she transforms herself into Sailor Moon. And in the name of the Moon, she shall punish you! :)

You can see more of her videos by going to youtube.com/MichellePhan.

Sydney (PetiteLittleGirl).

This Vietnamese petite based in Ohio is Sydney of "PetiteLittleGirl." In her blog posts, she showcases her style to all of you. Most of what she posts is a combination of casual outfits as well as some workplace appropriate fashions. She is very sweet the way she smiles and in her many different outfit posts. Sydney also does some product reviews in addition to her many posts. If you love petites and petite fashion, you are invited to check out "PetiteLittleGirl" today.

Jean (Extra Petite).

Another Vietnamese blogger, Jean of "Extra Petite" specializes in workplace-appropriate and business casual fashions for petite women. She is a lovely lady seeking appropriate fashions for her petite frame. She also does YouTube. Here is a look at how she sounds and looks:

Join Jean on her quest for fashion that fits by going to "Extra Petite" today!

Annie (Really Petite).

Annie of "Really Petite" is a beautiful petite blogger. With a lovely hairstyle and sweet smile, her quest to find great-fitting, great-looking clothes for her petite frame is a great one. Her looks will astound you. Annie is beautiful in looks and in personality. Though she hasn't done any videos lately, Annie can also be found on YouTube where she offers her insight to others in videos. Let me just say... if you think she's beautiful in looks, you should hear her speak. She speaks beautifully! Here is the Vietnamese beauty in a video:

Check out "Really Petite" to see her latest content!

Khatu (i am Khatu).

To round out the petite fashion bloggers of this section, I give you Khatu. The young Vietnamese petite from Boston is only 4'11", but big on beauty. Khatu's style is very diverse. She can be very casual (sometimes preppy) to almost goddess-like. A vast array of styles can be seen from this young petite. Have a look for yourself by visiting "i am Khatu."

communitychannel (Honorable Mention!)

communitychannel
^ from: talk.onevietnam.org - "Your mum rates me." One of YouTube's coolest channels is "communitychannel," headed by this young lady, Natalie.

Natalie Tyler Tran, better known on YouTube as communitychannel, is the hottest YouTube channel in Australia. It is arguably the best and most popular channel in the Asia-Pacific region. She is Vietnamese-Australian hailing from the beautiful city of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. I greatly respect her as one of my inspirations on YouTube. Back when I was really active on YouTube, I would commonly watch her videos. She never fails to impress. So what's up with Natalie lately? Check out her latest videos by visiting "communitychannel" on YouTube. Here is a sample of one of Natalie's older videos:

And I quote... "your mum rates me." :)

That's all for Vietnamese beauties!

--- Thailand ---
Up next is the Kingdom of Thailand. This is one reason why I love blogging- Lord knows I can't pronounce her name proficiently if trying to speak!

Pattra Roongratsoonthorn.

Pattra Roongratsoonthorn
^ from: beautyworldcup.blogspot.com (best I could find) - Miss Earth 2006's "Best in Swimsuit" winner was Pattra Roongratsoonthorn of Thailand.
Pattra Roongratsoonthorn won "Best in Swimsuit" for Miss Earth 2006. She unfortunately didn't win Miss Universe Thailand back in 2006. 23 years old in 2006, Pattra is a total Thai beauty.

Kritchaporn Homboonyasak.

Kritchaporn Homboonyasak
^ from: www.theamazingthailand.net - Kritchaporn Homboonyasak is your 2010 Miss Thailand winner.

The 2010 winner of Miss Thailand is Kritchaporn Homboonyasak. This (born: 1990) lady from the Thai province of Chiang Mai was the first Miss Thailand winner from Chiang Mai since Patiporn Sittipong's 2002 triumph. Every Miss Thailand winner between Patiporn and Kritchaporn has represented Bangkok (excluding 2005, where no Miss Thailand competition was held). Kritchaporn even won Miss Photogenic, Miss Body Perfect, and Miss Intelligent in the 2010 competition.

Chanyasorn Sakornchan.

Fonthip Watcharatrakul.

Fonthip Watcharatrakul
^ from: beautybodybrain.com - Fonthip Watcharatraku from the Thai province of Samut Prakan.

Miss Universe's Thailand representative from Bang Bo, Samut Prakan, Thailand in 2010 is Fonthip Watcharatrakul. She also won Miss Photogentic and Best National Costume that year. Here is a video where you can meet this beautiful 5'7" Thai lady here:

Beautiful lady, isn't she? That's why I put her among my beauties in this post. Be thankful! :)

Piyaporn Deejing.

Also known by her nickname "Dear," (born: January 1, 1989)-year old Piyaporn Deejing from Thailand's Nakhon Ratchasima province won Miss Earth Thailand 2008 and Miss Thailand International in 2010. The 5'8" model is a sweet-faced, sweet-smiling Thai princess with lovely hair. This video may lend you a little more insight on this lady:

Those are some of many of Thailand's lovely ladies.

--- Cambodia ---
Angkor Wat is a lovely sight, and so are Cambodia's ladies. Here are some of the many I will feature in this post.

Prum Ratha.

Prum Ratha
^ from: khmerfuture.com - Khmer beauty Prum Ratha.

The first Khmer beauty to be featured here is Prum Ratha from Cambodia. This Cambodian cutie does both acting and singing.

Keo Kalyan.

From Cambodia's captial city of Phnom Penh, Keo Kalyan is a trail blazer for modern Khmer folk, as Keo has degrees in Business Administration and Teaching English as a Foreign Language. She is of a rare type in modern Cambodia where there aren't as many girls who attend Secondary School in Cambodia as there are boyss (a 1:3 ratio). Rather than share a picture of her, I will show you a link where you can learn more about Keo Kalyan and why her presence is so refreshing and encouraging. So to learn more about this cute lady, visit "The new urban Cambodian woman: Keo Kaylan" on ThaRum.com.

Cambodian ladies are done... let's move on!

--- Laos ---
Time to salute my Laotian audience by talking about your country's lovely ladies. I think I have ever known only one person of Laotian descent.

Amy Chanthaphavong.

Amy Chanthaphavong is Laotian-American. She won Miss Asian-America in 2009, and was the first Laotian-American to win this honor. This is a video where she does a radio interview speaking in both Laotian and English (NOTE: You may need to turn up the volume):

Laotian lovelies have been covered, so it's time to go to another nation's lovely ladies.

--- Myanmar/Burma ---
I once had a Math teacher who is Burmese. Other than this, I know very little else about Myanmar/Burma. Whomever I feature will be mostly spontaneous and random. So here goes:

Swe Zin Phyo.

Swe Zin Phyo
^ from: cardinalbitchspecials.wordpress.com (best I could find) - The first Miss Myanmar/Burma since 1961 was the 2010 winner, Swe Zin Phyo.

Almost fifty years since the last Miss Myanmar was crowned, it was in 2010 when Swe Zin Phyo was crowned Miss Myanmar/Burma. The last one to win this honor was a woman named Myint Myint Khins, who won Miss Myanmar/Burma in 1961.

I may add some more Burmese beauties if I can find some.

Not done yet! There are more ladies from more nations to come. Make sure you're reading the full post. If you are not and if you love what you have read so far, why not continue your experience by clicking on "Read More?" Or of course, just move on if you are reading the full post.

--- Southeast Asia: Maritime ---

(THIS REGION: Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, and East Timor)

--- Philippines ---
There are more Filipino beauties other than Charice Pempengco and Sarah Geronimo. So let's see some more Filipino beauties! Or actually, let me make mention to them again.

Charice Pempengco.

Described by Keira Kang (from my "East Asian Beauties" post) as a "little girl with a big voice," (born: May 10, 1992) Charice Pempengco is a sensational singer. Her voice is so bold and powerful for such a lovely Filipino girl like Charice. This singer has also done some acting as part of the hit FOX show, Glee. I think she may definitely represent the future of the music industry. Especially if Charice can become a really international star, she may go down as one of the finest singers in the world from the Philippines. Want to hear Charice sing? Have a listen to "It Can Only Get Better":

Have you read my blog post on Charice Pempengco yet? If you have not read it (and would like to), please visit "Charice Pempengco" here on John's Blog Space.

Sarah Geronimo.

Sarah Geronimo is a young singer who is very beautiful in looks and in singing. She is often called as the Popstar Princess. To me, though, she's a beautiful goddess with a divine voice and divine singing talent. Don't believe me? Hear for yourself with "How Can You Love Me":

My blog post on Sarah Geronimo can be read here: "Sarah Geronimo" on John's Blog Space.

Elizabeth Naluz.

Elizabeth Naluz
^ from: finefilipinas.com (best I could find) - Pinay Playboy princess Elizabeth Naluz.

The focus has shifted from two lovely Filipino ladies to a very sexy Filipino. This young Pinay princess is Elizabeth Naluz. She stands 5'8" and models for Playboy Philippines. Elizabeth Naluz is make-your-girlfriend/wife-jealous beautiful and hot.

Maria Venus Raj (Facebook Fan Page).

As the winner of Miss Universe Philippines 2010, Maria Venus Bayonito Raj proudly represents her fellow Filipinos on a global level. She has luscious curves and is incredibly beautiful. The (born: July 7, 1988)-year old is from Naga City, Philippines. Slim, slender, and sexy. What more could you want? This video shows off this goddess:

Total goddess, right?

Vanessa Minnillo.

Born in the Philippines, (November 9, 1980)-year old Vanessa Minnillo is a Pinay princess whom I've first heard of back in the days of MTV's "Total Request Live." This video showcases this beautiful Pinay:

Best wishes to her in whatever she's working on these days.

Anna Maria Perez de Taglé.

Anna Maria Perez de Taglé was someone I first heard of from a girls' show called "Cake." She played as Miracle Ross on this crafts show for girls. The Filipino-American actress has also done some singing aside from her acting. Have a listen to her singing:

My old blog post on this young lady can be read at "Anna Maria Perez de Taglé" here on John's Blog Space.

Philippines: YouTube Focus
Time to note some Pinay princesses on YouTube here.

Natalie (NDTitanLady).

The beautiful Natalie D. (or "Nat") is a young Filipino girl who has one of the hottest YouTube channels. She is one of my biggest inspirations on YouTube for her massive popularity. Same goes for how she's been featured on multiple websites. So she inspires me on YouTube because I know I could reach a level of popularity like she has if I keep providing quality content. Her channel is none other than "NDTitanLady." Hailing from Riverside, California, USA; Natalie produces entertaining videos where she incorporates her unique sense of humor. Besides making great videos, she also enjoys rock climbing at rock climbing gyms as a sport. This was one of the first videos of hers that I got to see and enjoy when I first learned of her:

(A possible blog post on her is something I'm not ruling out in the future.)

Aubrey (Fafinettex3).

Hailing from Virginia, Aubrey is a beauty blogger who expertly shares her wisdom and knowledge of beauty and beauty products. She also often times shares certain outfits she puts together on her YouTube channel, Fafinettex3.
This video is a sample of Aubrey's knowledge of beauty. Here is your chance to gauge her sense of style:

You can visit "Fafinettex3" on YouTube to see her latest videos. She also does fashion videos and even some fashion haul videos.

Philippines: Blogger Focus
Now, I'll feature a few bloggers.

Joana Erica Danielle (or Ericaritish).

The journey through life is a tough one. Joana Erica Danielle (or "Ericaritish") has a variety of blog posts. You may remember I've made mention to her in some of my blog posts. This Filipino is an aspiring author, and I want her to become that celebrated author because she means so much to me both as a friend and as an inspiration. She is a very lovely lady, so I have to feature her in this post. Be sure to visit "Ericaritish" right here on Blogger/Blogspot to see her latest posts!

Dina Vanessa Mercado.

"Voguely Van" creator Vanessa is a fashion blogger from Manila, Philippines. The young lady came across John's Blog Space" and loved my content. I have since been a fan of hers since seeing her own blog. This cute girl has many different styles expressed. I invite you fashion lovers to visit "Voguely Van" on Blogger/Blogspot to check out her latest blog posts and to take a look at her style.

Joanna Ladrido.

(added: Sep. 21, 2011) Joanna Ladrido is a young fashion blogger whose style can easily range from chic to tough. She doesn't play by any fashion rules, and most of her outfit posts are unlike what you may see in most other fashion blogs. "Only the Marvelous" is the name of her blog. That is not only the name, but she also lives by the name of her blog by featuring a mutlitude of exceptional looks. This Filipino fashionista is simply, well... marvelous. You'll agree if you like what you see at "Only the Marvelous."

--- Indonesia ---
Indonesian ladies are up next. All I can say is that a good majority of the ones featured represent various Indonesian fashion bloggers.

Glory Rosary Oyong.

Glory Rosary Oyung
^ from: beritadaerah.com - Glory Rosary Oyung's beauty made the grade in 2008, winning Miss World University Indonesia that year.

(Born: October 14, 1989)-year old Glory Rosary Oyung is a lovely Indonesian beauty. She won Miss World University Indonesia in 2008.

Nadine Ames.

Nadine Ames

Born in Winchester, England; Nadine Alexandra Dewi Ames was crowned Puteri Indonesia 2010 and even competed in Miss Universe 2011. This (born: May 23, 1991)-year old has a Welsh father and a Javanese mother.

Qory Sandioriva.

The 2009 winner of Miss Indonesia (Puteri Indonesia) is one Qory Sandioriva. The (born: August 17, 1991)-year old from Jakarta is currently the youngest to win Puteri Indonesia (she was 18 in her 2009 triumph), and not to mention the only one from the Indonesian province of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam to win Puteri Indonesia. This video showcases this young lady:

Indonesia: Blogger Focus
Here are some lovely Indonesian ladies in the blogosphere. Check it:

Chekka Cuomova (Chekka Cuomova).

Chekka Cuomova was one of the first Indonesian fashion bloggers I've come across after seeing one of her posts on an online forum. Most of her fashions are very chic and creative. You can visit the Jakarta native's pictures and blog posts by going to Chekka Cuomova here on Blogger/Blogspot.

Michelle Koesnadi (Glisters and Blisters).

Michelle Koesnadi has one of the best fashion blogs on the Internet- "Glisters and Blisters." This young Indonesian lady has a combination of lovely fashion outfits and breathtaking photo shoots. You really have to see her material to enjoy and appreciate how beautiful she is. On a few rare occasions, she even does some YouTube videos. This one is very old:

She doesn't do many videos, but if you're interested in seeing her videos, check out "mkoesnadi" on YouTube. Please... do NOT forget to visit "Glisters and Blisters" here on Blogger/Blogspot!

Veren Lee (.a little princess.).

Veren Lee is one of the cutest bloggers online. Her blog is called ".a little princess." The style expressed by her is very cute (and sometimes adorable). It is a blog I became interested in when I saw a comment she posted to another blog. I then became a fan of ".a little princess." Nothing super-chic or super appealing- just some really cute fashions from this teenage blogger. There are also a few videos she does, though she hasn't done any lately. Here is a video featuring Veren (including how to pronounce "Veren"):

Last call... visit ".a little princess." today!

This covers various lovelies from Indonesia. Why don't we move on to the next one?

--- Singapore ---
Singapore is a very lovely place. This sovreign state has many lovely views besides the lovely merlion statues.

Tila Nguyen (Tila Tequila).

Whether you love her or loathe her, Tila Tequila is certainly worthy of being featured in this blog post since she was born in Singapore. Also like it or not, she's really the only true Asian superstar in American media. I best recall Tila flipping through the pages of magazines like Super Street Magazine seeing her in advertisements and pictures. She also gained some fame from the reality TV scene with "A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila." It was a bisexual dating show. According to Tila, however, she is straight. Her kissing of other women (according to her) shows that love takes many forms. She's also been pretty much into the go-go dancing scene long ago. No matter what, Tila is still a beautiful lady and the only real Asian superstar (controversial or not) in American media. Here's a sip of Tila Tequila right here:

Please drink responsibly. :)

Jessica Gomes.

Half-Singaporean (Chinese) and half-Portuguese; Jessica Gomes is more than qualified to be among the Singaporean beauties. The (born: September 25, 1985)-year old was born in Perth, Western Australia, Australia and stands 5'9". Get a taste of this beauty by checking out this video:

Rachel Kum.

Singapore native Rachel Kum won Miss Singapore 2009. Despite this accolade, she's also been infamous for scandalous photos of her for which fans think she should be stripped of her 2009 title.

IN CASE YOU'RE INTERESTED: Some of the questionable pictures of Rachel Kum can be seen here in this blog: "Miss Singapore 'Scandal' - Rachael Kum's Racy Pictures," on Beauty in Pageants.

Wendy Cheng (Xiaxue).

Xiaxue is one of the oldest blogs I follow. This beautiful Singaporean lady named Wendy Cheng is a blogging veteran with some blog posts on the Blogger/Blogspot interface since 2003. Xiaxue is certainly a blogging veteran. And also, she is very beautiful. Her work also extends into videos on YouTube. Check out Wendy's lovely blog by visiting "Xiaxue," or see her YouTube channel called "TheXiaxue".

These are women as beautiful as Singapore.

--- Malaysia ---
To avoid confusion, I have included Malaysia here rather than one be about mainland Malaysia and the other about Malaysia at sea. If you're Malaysian, you're Malaysian. So here are some of Malaysia's lovely ladies.

Nadine Ann Thomas (Facebook Fan Page).

Nadine Ann Thomas
^ from: beautybodybrain.com - Nadine Ann Thomas- Miss Malaysia Universe 2010 winner.

The winner of Miss Malaysia Universe 2010 is Nadine Ann Thomas. The Malaysian was born to a Chinese/British mother and an Indian father in Subang Jaya, Malaysia. Her background is very sports-oriented along with some piano playing skill. She is an alum of Limkokwing University (which is also where one of my online friends goes to, and she's a beautiful Malaysian herself). In this video, Nadine did a video for Men's Health. Here is her interview with Men's Health:

She also has a Blogger/Blogspot blog, but it hasn't been updated for a long time. You can still have a look at it by visiting nadineannthomas.blogspot.com.

There may be more I may add to this section in the future. For now, though, those are Malaysian beauties.

--- Brunei ---
Finally, I present to you a lady or two from the State of Brunei. Brunei is a very interesting place as I've noted I sometimes get blog hits from Brunei.

Mimi Rahzia.

Mimi Rahzia is the only Bruneian beauty I can pull up. This is also the only material I could use in showing you the beautiful Mimi Rahzia:

Even though it hasn't been updated in a long while, Mimi has her own blog. Visit the Bruneian beauty's blog at "My Diary MIMI RAHZIA".

My knowledge of Brunei is still very poor. Perhaps there may be some beautiful Brunei women I may not know about besides Mimi Rahzia.

--- Southeast Asian Beauties: Uncategorized ---

I reserved this one specifically for someone whom I was unable to categorize. So here you go:

Brenda Song.

Brenda Song is Hmong-Thai-American. I've had a tough time trying to put her in a certain category since Hmong encompasses a vast array of nationalities in Southeast Asia. So I reserved this section to mention only Brenda Song. The (born: March 27, 1988)-year old native of Carmichael, California, USA has a Hmong (meaning any of China, Vietnam, Laos, and/or Thailand) father and a Thai mother. Brenda Song is mostly famous for her acting on the Disney Channel. Brenda Song is not only her name, but Brenda Song has done some singing before. Here is a sample of the Asian-American cutie singing "Girl Like Me.":

By the way... I read she is Brenda Xiong, but (and according to Wikipedia) the surname was changed to "Song" when Brenda's paternal parents immigrated to the United States. These are among some of many Southeast Asian beauties. I may update this blog (and others) every now and then to make edits and update it with new content. I actually exposed myself more to certain new styles of music. That especially holds true hearing Vietnamese pop in preparing this blog post. To me, doing posts like these helps me understand other people better. Always best to learn more about the world we live in and the people within this world. There were a few more I could add, but I may save those for a future "Beauties"-themed blog post.

The next post in this "Asian Beauties" series will relate to beautiful women of South Asia. Thank you for reading!

Áo Dài

(UPDATED: February 24, 2012)

Here in Houston, we have the largest Vietnamese population in Texas, and the third-largest in the United States. I've become accustomed to various Vietnamese ideas and customs. In the realm of fashion, I've seen a few áo dàis (pronounced like "oh yai") before. I've even seen these worn by a few of my Vietnamese friends. And let me tell you... these are absolutely beautiful on them.

NOTE: I used the Wikipedia entry on Áo Dài to get some of the proper Vietnamese spelling correctly.

A Special Salute...

If you happen to be Vietnamese or from Vietnam, I would like to send a special salute to you and welcome to "John's Blog Space!" I hope you enjoy this blog post of mine.

About the Label: "Southeast Asia"

The "Southeast Asia" blog label pertains to issues regarding people, places, and things of Southeast Asia. This includes countries such as the following: Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines among other places. There is already a "Filipino and Philippines" blog post for all topics concerning Filipinos and the Philippines despite this new label. I hope I can get some more support internationally from my Southeast Asian readers.

Blog Note:

This post was initially posted on December 15, 2009 at 10:05 PM Pacific [Standard] Time. The old post was since deleted and replaced with a new post with updated content.

--- Áo Dài at a Glance ---

Here is a look at the beautiful Ao Dai pantsuits that Vietnamese females wear:

Ao Dai
^ from: www.tuvy.com - The Ao Dai is a beautiful and colorful folk outfit for Vietnamese females.

Ao Dai and Non La
^ from: www.asiafinest.com, by way of Flickr - In addition to the ao dai, some wear conic hats called nón lá along with their áo dài outfit.

Let me share a video with you on the ao dai. More importantly, this showcases the ao dai with a Vietnamese woman from Hue^'. This lady shows you her ao dai and even talks about the Hue people. The reason why I'm showing you this video is just to show you how beautiful the ao dai is in real action (as opposed to just pictures). Look at the flow of the ao dai dress and the silky pants worn with them. Take a look:

More About the Áo Dài.

For the uninitiated, the áo dài is a beautiful Vietnamese pantsuit mostly worn by women (though someone on YouTube told me there are even áo dài outfits for men, called áo ga^'m (thanks: Wikipedia)). The basic áo dài consists of a long tunic with long sleeves worn with a pair of pants. The áo dài tunic Some even wear nón lá hats with these, which add a lovely touch to an already lovely outfit. These áo dài outfits can be worn for various functions.

What I love most about these áo dài pantsuits are the designs and styles of them. Some come in many beautiful colors, some come in many beautiful patterns and designs, some are even adorned with lovely accents... if you ever see a Vietnamese lady wearing an áo dài, they are just beautiful.

Remember the video I shown you earlier? Here is another video from the same channel featuring some more beautiful traditional áo dài:

Isn't this a beautiful outfit?

Brittanie Ngo

A Vietnamese Benevolent Beauty.

(UPDATED: November 25, 2011)

Brittanie Ngo (or "Miss Jolie") can best be described as a benevolent beauty. Born in Vietnam, Brittanie is a beautiful lady deeply involved in charity work. I first seen Brittanie in an advertisement for Kaminari in an issue of Super Street magazine back in 2001 or 2002. I wondered who this beautiful young lady was as I was looking around online. The graduate of the University of California-Irvine (meaning she's a Anteater (the UC-Irvine Anteaters)) is an absolutely beautiful lady. Even if you visit her official website at brittanie.com, she has two sections regarding charity and "The Miss Deeds." I even remember on Myspace years ago when I read her Myspace blog about some of her various good deeds she tries to do each day. She won't care about doing pictures if you aren't willing to donate funds to viable charities. And if you think she does any adult content, she absolutely doesn't do any such pictures or any adult content projects.

The one thing to take away from Brittanie Ngo is that as much as she enjoys looking beautiful in front of the camera in lovely photoshoots, she enjoys charity and making a difference for the world equally. A message she would imply is that you should be beautiful inside as well as outside. Brittanie is both at the same time and with the same level of beauty. This is someone who values acts of benevolence in addition to being a beautiful goddess. It is her heart in addition to you looks that helps me appreciate her fully.

(ADDED: November 25, 2011) Here is a video of Brittanie Ngo. This is your chance to see and hear this beautiful lady:

I told you she's beautiful. :)

--- What I Would Say to Brittanie Ngo (if she were to read this) ---

Brittanie, I absolutely appreciate all that you do. You are beautiful in looks and in heart. I'm glad you are able to be beautiful in all that you do for everyone. Keep up the great work in all that you do!

I would feature a picture or two of Brittanie Ngo, but I fear I would be unable to show a picture due to copyright issues. So if you want to learn more about Brittanie Ngo and see for yourself how beautiful she is, visit her official website at www.brittanie.com. Thank you for reading!

Sentul International Circuit

The Sentul Circuit in Indonesia is an 11-turn road course that is 2.56 miles in length. The course is located just 26.10 miles from the Indonesian capital of Jakarta. The course allows for high speed racing with a few decisive corners. Everything from single-seater formula cars to various saloon cars and motorcycles race at this facility. In fact, Sentul was once a stop on the World Superbike tour in the 1990s.

This blog entry concerns perhaps the best (and only?) race track on the world's largest archipelago- Sentul Circuit in Indonesia.

--- Sentul International Circuit ---
Sentul track map
^ from: afos.com - The Sentul Circuit is located in Citeureup, Indonesia. It is basically Indonesia's only true motor racing circuit. CERTAINLY Indonesia's only permanent race course.

Sentul has a blend of speedy sections followed by decisively slow sections. For the most part, Sentul has very little (if any) elevation changes. So it is a mostly flat course that can do a number on your car or motorcycle with each lap.

One Lap Description.
The first corner is a right-hand corner that can be taken at somewhat moderate speed. Turn 2 is more like a sharp left-hand kink that leads onto a long straight. After this, be ready for an off-balance pair of rights. Turn 3 is like Turn 2, only to the right, and Turn 4 is a very sharp right. Turn 5 is a left-hand kink. Turns 6 and 7 make up a sharp right-left chicane. Another long straight follows heading into a sharp right-hand Turn 8 and an equally sharp left at Turn 9. After Turn 9 is a straight leading to a very sharp Turn 10. Good exit speed and a good line will lead to taking Turn 11 without needing to brake. Blast down the front straight, and that's one lap around the 2.56-mile (or 4.12-km) Sentul Circuit.

The lap record at Sentul is 1:15.686. It was set by Bruno Senna in 2008 racing in an F3000/GP2 car for Trust Team Arden. I want to show you a video of how this course looks. The best I could find and use was this onboard lap in 2007.

I did an estimation of how quickly this car went around Sentul. An approximation of how long a lap is in this Porsche Carrera Cuo car is about 1:33.000. Here is one more YouTube video I'll provide to you as a bonus. Check out this from 1997- a World Superbike last lap battle between John Kocinski and Aaron Slight. Here's a hint- both of them race for Castrol Honda, and both are sporting the white bikes with red and green accents:

Marina Bay Street Circuit

The lively city-state of Singapore hosted the first-ever night race in Formula One history. Known for its merlion statues, Singapore is a lovely city. Lots of lighting illuminates this lovely city so much that there is almost as much light on the track as if it were a daytime course (also considering F1 cars don't have headlights). The track is pretty intense as a street course, but many of the camera angles of the city are truly beautiful. Downtown Singapore is aglow in city lights in the distance as well as the world's largest ferris wheel.

--- Marina Bay Street Circuit ---

Here is the track map of this course:

Marina Bay Street Circuit
^ source: f1-grand-prix-singapore.com - Race cars sparkle like jewels as cars race around on this tough street course.

--- Singapore Lap ---

This track is what you would kind of expect to see in a racing game- a street course at night. This is a night street course done right with ample lighting. Get ready for a beautiful light show as well as a fiercely tough 23-turn street course.

When blasting down the straight, Turn 1 comes abruptly. Turns 2 and 3 are like a mini esses section. Turn 3 is sharp and leads to the left-hand kink at Turn 4. Heading into Turn 5, the road begins to narrow up. The road is long between Turns 5 and Turn 7. Turn 6 is just a minor kink that you shouldn't be too concerned with. Turn 7 is one you SHOULD be concerned with, however. The road opens a great deal in Turn 7, but be ready to take on narrow Turn 8. The ninth turn is a bit like the previous corner. Another long blast awaits you heading into Turn 10. Turn 10 is like a quick version of Turns 1-3. Turns 11 and 12 come rather smoothly as a chicane. Turn 12 takes you down to Anderson Bridge into Turn 13. Turn 13 is a pretty sharp left corner. The long road after Turn 13 leads down Espenlade Drive situated over water to the sharp Turn 14. Turn 14 is like Turn 13 in sharpness and difficulty, but in the other direction. After Turn 14, the roads start to become sharper and more treacherous. Turn 15 is a little kink designed to throw off your speedfreaking ways, and Turn 16 punishes you if you lose your concentration in taking the corner properly. Turns 16 through 21 are all styled similarly. The next corner comes quickly and is moderately. Turn 18 is styled similarly to Turn 17. A brief blast under the grandstand leads to Turn 19. Turns 20 and 21 are the same in style, but the gap between Turns 20 and 21 is smaller than both Turns 16 and 17 as well as Turns 18 and 19. Finally, Turns 22 and 23 are moderately sharp. A good racing line through these two corners can somewhat be taken like one long corner. And that's a lap around the lovely streets of Singapore.

Or... let this video do the talking:

Singapore- lovely when not racing, lovely when racing. Thanks for reading. Have a lovely day/night! :)
