The expression, "run what you brung," has never been more appropriate for a style of racing like Time Attack. Especially if what you brung is a car much more extreme than its stock form. So is the essence of Time Attack. Time Attack is all about bringing your own four-wheeled track weapon to battle for the fastest lap time around a course. You see lots of machines ranging from road-going cars tuned for racing all the way up machines tuned to the extreme.

Do I think it's possible we'll see this in Gran Turismo 5? The biggest factor lies in customization. I think customization, let alone tuning options, will play a big role in how far along this element can be brought along. Maybe I'm thinking too much along the lines of stuff like what you'd see in Super Street Magazine or something. I'm thinking more along the lines of making your car as YOUR car. It would get rather boring when you bring your own time attack car that can be tuned to any extreme... except that the car's exterior doesn't resemble anything purely extreme. If you fancy sleepers, that's one thing. However, I believe in customization in addition to a well-tuned car. Kind of examples like these:

These possibilities may be exemplified if we do get a competitive model. There are already a nice deal of tuner-type cars from Gran Turismo 5 demos. We just may have ourselves some Time Attack action. ANYTHING to diversify the kinds of racing we can do will be serious additions for this classic series.
