Thanks to everyone who actually voted on my poll. I asked people what they would want to see me cover as my 49th Car Style blog entry, and it was a tie between the Saleen S7 and the Lamborghini Reventón. Obviously by the title, I chose the Reventón. This is probably going to be one of the most unusual cars you will ever see. Thing is... you can buy one! You may never become part of the United States Air Force, but you can have military air force thrills while driving a limited-edition supercar. That car is the Reventón from Lamborghini for about a cool $1,000,000+ USD.
The Lamborghini Reventón is a limited-run car that is absolutely fierce in its appearance. It is a car, but could it really be much more?
--- Car Style: The Lamborghini Reventón ---
Meet this beast below:^ from: cars.about.com - it's called the Lamborghini Reventón, but is it a supercar or a stealth bomber on wheels?
The Lamborghini Reventón is a mid-engine, four-wheel drive supercar with fierce styling. The car is quite a head-turner. This car looks like it should be released in 2025 rather than when it was eventually unveiled.
When you look at it from the front, it is weird to tell if this is a Lamborghini or a stealth bomber on wheels. It has an unusual blunt (or diamond?) edge up front The car is an aboslute beast up front. Not beautiful by any stretch, but not ugly either. The headlights are designed with ferocity and cleanliness. Below the headlights are two huge openings on either side up front. They protrude outward as the blunt-edged front showcases its edgy character. The front bonnet is clean and smooth as you note the long side mirrors. I personally think this car intimidates up front. There are hardly any curves to this car. So you can say that this car is sexy without having any curves.
A lot more sharp lines accentuate the sides. It looks like a road-going version of the Murciélago GT-R, only with a lot more aggressive elements. It boasts a lot more sharp lines and aggressive openings. The Reventón's side profile is more like the Murciélago from Hell (and I'm not talking Hell, Michigan, USA!). A big side duct along the side skirt makes a powerful statement in its side design. It looks great on the sides in matching the aggression up front.
The rear of this car makes you wonder if this really is a fighter jet on wheels. The most intricate element of the rear is the tail lights. The tail lights look like three-point crosshairs pointing in a certain direction. There are three on each side. Up top, the car looks like it doesn't have a rear windshield. That section also where the 650hp V-12 engine is located. But when you view it from the rear, it does have a windshield. Only thing is that there are little pieces on the windshield that adds to this car's stealth bomber-like profile. Large openings under the tail lights only adds to the ferocity at the back. Same applies for that wide, hexagonal rear muffler. If anything, the rear looks like it has afterburners and ready to enter Mach 3.
The elements within the interior of the Reventón. The instrument panel resembles something you may see in a fighter jet. Keep in mind that this is a car, so you're not behind a flight stick here. The steering wheel looks very nice and sporty. A smattering of carbon fiber makes up the center console. The seats are somewhere between racing seats and fighter jet seats. The interior is more like you have to be a member of any Air Force squad to climb in because this NOT made for everyday folk!
(ADDED: February 8, 2012) The styling cues from the Reventón have given way to Lamborghini's sexy new car, the Aventador. I may do a post on this car for your reading pleasure.
You have to wonder who actually thought it would be cool if a Lamborghini could ever offer anything close to what you'd see in a fighter jet. Many of us will never get to see these things or experience these things. Luckily, this Lamborghini translates the feel of being in a fighter jet while subtracting two big wings adding four tires. This would be the perfect car to be in a movie that can transform into a a jet plane. Truly one of the most unusual (and cool!) cars you'll ever see in person or in pictures.
Thanks to the ones who actually voted in my poll (all two of you). My 50th Car Style blog entry concerns one of my all-time favorite cars. What is it? You'll have to wait and see! Thanks for reading. Go subscribe to my blog or something! :P
